As a service to this great forum, I'm starting the "Zip Goshboots Daily Elvis Presley Picture Thread"
I loved Elvis, and I miss him. He was cool. This is also part of my ongoing effort to defeat the evil forces of rap music, and to counter white people who say they think rap is good in an effort to sound like they are "down".

Our thanks to b-diddy for reminding me of this thread. How could I forget Thee King?
Elvis could pull off any look, as this picture clearly shows. We wonder why Elvis wasn't paired with Clint Eastwood for "Fistful of Dollars" or something. The two of them would have made movie histroy together, no doubt.

Elvis shows us his serious side.
Now, I've been told I look like Jim Boeheim, just not quite as handsome. But I'd trade all of my Boeheim like features for Elvis' hair, man. Wow. It must have taken him an hour to comb that mop. It takes me about 12 seconds to pull my remaining 4 strands of hair over to the other side of my head.

Nobody worked harder than The King at being the best. In concert, he could grab the guitar, or just the mike, and the music flowed.
I bet you could have written words to accompany his farts. That's how great The King was.

I'm enjoying the thread Zip, I dig the king.

I have the box sets from the 50's, 60's, 70's (both volumes) and a bunch of other stuff too.

I'm not too sure Tupac Shakur or Biggie Smalls have a stamp.

Uncle Mxy
04-09-2007, 12:41 PM
That's because you have to be dead for over 10 years to be eligible for a stamp. When the first hip-hop stamp in the U.S. came out in 1999, they used a random breakdancing dude because the hip-hop crowd hadn't been offing each other as badly during the 1980s:

http://www.oldschoolhiphop.com/images/other_images/stamp.jpg

Of course, comparing Elvis to any genre of music is sort of apples to oranges. Most music in a given genre is crap, so Elvis is greater than any genre, and you don't have to wage a war on hip-hop in particular. :)

Moxie:
You are right again. Hip Hop will collapse under the weight of its own ridiculousness.
It will also die out because unlike our parents and beyond, they actually LIKED the music they grew up with, and there is a whole generation of white people who are going to be embarrassed that they embraced this shit when they were young. They are going to be marked for life as having grown up listening to Justin Timberlake, and no matter how they try to run from it, their sons will always suspect them of being fags for just that reason.

The King lets The Prez look at his solid gold cufflinks. Nixon asked The King for tips on how to run the country, and The King whispered something into his ear, and backed off, saying, "It's your duty. It's the right thing to do. I'll have a helicopter take you away when you're done"
Two weeks later, Tricky Dick resigned as President of the United States.

I was forced to watch American Idol with my wife last night, and one of the ungodly events that happened was that Celine Dion sang a gospel duet with a videotaped Elvis, and the two were digitally merged together onscreen while Celine Dion acted like she was flirting with Elvis. Elvis isn't necessarily my favorite entertainer, but he's still Elvis, and Celine Dion can go straight to hell for defiling his memory.

TV Land had the Aloha from Hawaii concert on last night.

Then they had some show on about Elvis conspiracies which featured interviews with a bunch of people that believe that he isn't really dead and that the corpse in his coffin was actually a wax lookalike.

They even played audio from a taped phone conversation with "Elvis" claiming that he is alive and nobody would recognize him if they saw him.

ps: the elvis presley of the mind once penned this jingle about his encounter with the king. not sure what % of this thread is tongue in cheek, but here it be:

Went to see the gypsy,
Stayin' in a big hotel.
He smiled when he saw me coming,
And he said, "Well, well, well."
His room was dark and crowded,
Lights were low and dim.
"How are you?" he said to me,
I said it back to him.

I went down to the lobby
To make a small call out.
A pretty dancing girl was there,
And she began to shout,
"Go on back to see the gypsy.
He can move you from the rear,
Drive you from your fear,
Bring you through the mirror.
He did it in Las Vegas,
And he can do it here."

Outside the lights were shining
On the river of tears,
I watched them from the distance
With music in my ears.

I went back to see the gypsy,
It was nearly early dawn.
The gypsy's door was open wide
But the gypsy was gone,
And that pretty dancing girl,
She could not be found.
So I watched that sun come rising
From that little Minnesota town.
