View Full Version : OGT: Pistons @ Spurs. Friday, 8:00 PM ET
Vinny 03-23-2007, 05:50 PM No pretty pictures. No funny nicknames.
Why? Because there's no time to fuck around anymore. There's only 15 games left till the playoffs start rolling and if the boys don't get it into gear soon, it's looking like a first round knockout.
It's gotta start soon, and what better time than tonight? Anyone remember the X-Mas day game against the Spurs 2 years ago? That's the kind of vintage beat-down I'm looking for tonight.
So while the rest of the world's watching the UNLV and Florida's of the world, let's all watch our boys put a fundamentally big pounding on the godamned Spurs.
With apologies to Mola1, let's see a good old fashioned 1O!5 - 87 THRASHING!

Detroit came out playing hard in the last Spurs game, but shot like Ray Charles. Still made a comeback, actually it was almost a carbon copy of that Rockets game last night.
Uncle Mxy 03-23-2007, 08:35 PM 1st quarter of this game is just like the 1st quarter of the Houston game.
Uncle Mxy 03-23-2007, 09:03 PM 2nd quarter of this game is just like the 4th quarter of the Houston game.
darkobetterthanmelo 03-23-2007, 09:05 PM I love how Sheed plays after he gets T'd up.
BubblesTheLion 03-23-2007, 09:58 PM It would be nice if we could actually win one of these games for once.
Vinny 03-23-2007, 10:15 PM I really wish Tay would start taking those wide open 3s instead of driving and kicking.
BubblesTheLion 03-23-2007, 10:18 PM Could we possibly comeback to WIN for once? SPURS THROW IT OUT OF BOUNDS!!!!
BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG NUTTTTTTTTZ DUUUUUUUUUECE SHOT
Vinny 03-23-2007, 10:24 PM I'd give up my Citizen of the Month award for a Pistons W tonight!
BubblesTheLion 03-23-2007, 10:25 PM Thanks again Rip.
Vinny 03-23-2007, 10:26 PM rip.
micknugget 03-23-2007, 10:32 PM I can't blame Rip. He looks really tired and shouldn't even be playing out there. He was played too much earlier in the season and it's really showing.
BubblesTheLion 03-23-2007, 10:32 PM God...damn....it.....
Way to miss em both Rip....way to miss em both.
metr0man 03-23-2007, 10:35 PM This team's play in the clutch has become a serious problem I think. In particular the missed FTs biting us in the ass repeatedly. The fact that it keeps happening, points to nervousness and mental weakness. We saw this towards the end of that cleveland series too.

It's a free throw, (FREE)
micknugget 03-23-2007, 10:45 PM Missing free throws that you would normally make is a true sign of fatigue. You shoot free throws with your arms vs. jump shots where you use some leg. Especially when the 2nd one was short.
BubblesTheLion 03-23-2007, 11:18 PM Missing free throws that you would normally make is a true sign of fatigue.
Yes, it's a sure sign of Fatigue .....from terminal fucking cancer.
Unless Rip was doing clean and jerks before taking those free throws, I call bullshit. All the time you get before taking a free throw. The shape these guys are in. No way his arms were THAT tired. If he can run in circles stop on a dime and pull up for a nice looking jumpshot. He sure as hell can stand still and throw a free shot.
micknugget 03-23-2007, 11:50 PM Well Bubbles, apparently you haven't played much basketball in your life. I have and I can tell you when you run around that much you get tired. It's not so much a matter of not being able to lift your arms but a matter of as you get tired you lose strength and more importantly touch. Your arms get tired and the shot that you put up that would normally go in falls short or you over compensate and brick it off of the back of the rim. It is also easier to shoot the ball is stride when you are tired than while standing still. It's called momentum.
BubblesTheLion 03-24-2007, 01:21 AM Well Bubbles, apparently you haven't played much basketball in your life. I have and I can tell you when you run around that much you get tired.
I play around 8 hours every week. Usually 2 hours at a time. High tempo just by myself. I actually try and emulate Rips midrange game when I play.
Mostly because if I miss a 3 ball it bounces over a fence into a yard full of dog shit. And because I suck at finishing around the rim. I'm a runner, I can stop on a dime, I can shoot while turning. So it makes sense for me. There isn't much else to do around here. So it's pretty much my social life.
Before I shoot I do poly and aerobics
Box Jumps, Weighted Toe Risers, jump rope, pushups, situps, stretching, squats, etc. Tomorrow since it's the weekend, I'll do a 10 mile pace in the morning 7:30 crack of dawn. (after 6 hours of sleep) Then around 4 I'll shoot another 2 hours , and on Sunday I'll probably take off and just heal. Not because I want to, just because if you don't take some days off your body starts to fail , pains, twinges, you compensate for them and end up pulling something .
6 out of 7 days every week only changing up the schedule because of weather. Really windy days or thunderstorms. I've been doing it since January. Even when it was in the 20's. Once it hit the 40's it felt like summer to me.
When I am not shooting, I am running and light lifting, 2-5 miles depending what I did before, the 5 is pace, the 2 is sprint. Weekends I pick one day to marathon.
Never had any trouble with free throws because of anything BUT lifting weights with my arms, which is why I stuck it on the running days. When I miss it's because I do something stupid like forget to close my right eye (left dominant) or I don't get my elbows tight, or I rush, or I don't put my foot 2 inches staggered, or I don't put the ball far enough to the right. Or I don't visualize the shot going in.
Concentration is related to fatigue, but when you have as much time as you do to take a free throw. It doesn't play a factor.
Bullshit he missed because he was tired. I am just as active as he is, so I don't buy it. And he is in a whole lot better shape than I am. Now, if he gets hit hard in the arm like a flagrant 1 foul, I'll forgive that. That's the whole point of hard fouls in the first place. That nonsense in the SAS game happened because he tripped over himself after Bowen dry humped him.
If you want to make an argument for why he can't hit freethrows. Maybe he is injured. That I'll consider. But tired is bullshit.
Not to jump in, but here is how the fatigue mixes in...
Its called muscle memory. NBA guys are NBA guys because they have a high level of muscle memory with their shooting. When you are tired, your muscles in your arms act like they normally would per the muscle memory but the shot falls short. That was really more than I meant to say, just... muscle memory is affected by fatigue.
Glenn 03-24-2007, 06:52 AM Those FTs hurt, no doubt.
But going 2/13 on threes was killer.
But Flip's an offensive genious, so nevermind.
metr0man 03-25-2007, 12:18 AM Its expected to happen. 45%, for instance, is a good 3 point shooting night. That means over half of your threes missed. extrapolate that out to a whole season rather than just a night, and you have over half the time where your shot isn't falling. relying so much on the long jumper will bite you in the ass, its just when. 13 attempts when none were falling is pretty inexcusable. Need better recognition.
