I looked at the TV listings this morning and waited all day to watch the game, only to find out it when I turned it on that it already happened.

It wasn't televised. I don't know why. I'm pissed!!!!!! From now on i'm going to be a Miami Heat fan. Ok, i'm not THAT pissed. Upon further reflection I don't think that I could ever be THAT pissed.

We won, great game, would have been nice to actually see it.....oh well.

Ok, so we get off to a nice 2-0 start on this western road trip. After seeing Maxiell play, i'm almost hoping that Sheed picks up a bunch more T's. Maxiell really gives us an inside defensive presence that we are otherwise lacking. I'm still worried that our starters are playing too many minutes. I hope we get ahead against Sea. and Por. so that we can rest them.

That block that Max had on Tim Thomas' three point try was incredible.

It was DEVOURED.

JMax plays 35 minutes and has 4 blocks but only 2 rebounds. Hmm... is it possible he's busy trying to block the shot and being outrebounded because he's jumped out of position? I didn't watch the game.

I watched it on TV20 at 7:00. Luckily I was out of town and didn't know they won before watching it.

Max had a great game for one reason, and one reason only.

He defended Elton Brand as well as I've ever seen anyone defend him. Brand drove the hoop on Max twice and got the ball stuffed back in his face.

No, Max couldn't rebound. No, Max couldn't hold on to the ball. Those are two of the reasons why Max doesn't deserve to be an every-night player. That said, Max is a great defensive matchup against smaller, quicker big men, so he's valuable in certain situations.

The blocks had nothing to do with his rebound total. The kid simply just can't rebound at an NBA level at power forward. Poor technique and lacks the size.

When Amir moves into the rotation next year, I fully expect Max to be shifted to small forward, ala Corliss.

I think that you are wrong Kstat. I think that Max can be a solid rebounder when he wants to. Keep in mind that this guy is eesentially still a rookie when you look at his playing time. He did have 8 boards in his last start (vs. GS) and averages 5.5 rpg when playing over 20 minutes (only 3 games over 30 minutes). I think that he was so focused on guarding Brand that he didn't focus enough on rebounding. He lacks technique but that can be fixed. I don't buy the size thing with his long arms and jumping ability. He's young and will improve. He and Amir should make for a very intimidating duo one day.

Maybe he can be an average rebounder if he keeps improving, but that's not going to happen this year, which is the point I was trying to make. Maxiell is a liability against %50 of the teams in the NBA.

His worse problem, IMO, is the fact a 10-year old girl can strip the ball out of his hands. Dude needs to hold on to the ball, as well as protect it better.

I didn't watch the whole game, but Max scored two nice buckets when I was watching. he did a little drop step on Brand and a little right hook shot. I think in time he'll be solid, but he's not starter material yet. He certainly can be as good as the Gooden's and Haslem's of the world and be a solid complimentary PF.

That was my biggest knock on Memo when he was here. Look at what he's accomplishing now. He probably bulled his way against most players in college, and never got the ball stripped as they ran in fear. he'll learn.

so what your trying to say is that maxiel, as soon as this year, may be winning rebounding crowns? thats great news!

He's way too athletic and hard-working to forever be an average rebounder.

I think Max's biggest problem is his passing. When he gets the ball, you pretty much know what he's going to do.

Size is pretty overrated in terms of rebounding. There are plenty of small and undersized bigs guys that can rebound. Jason Kidd? Chris Paul? Steve Francis? Danny Fortson? Ben Wallace? Charles Barkley? Shawn Marion? Dennis Rodman?

There are also bigs that stink and/or underachieve at rebounding(Sheed, Eddy Curry, Shaq, Yao, Amare)

It really isn't all about size when it comes to rebounding. It's more about intelligence, strength, hard work, and technique. Some learn faster than others.

JMax will get it soon methink.

he was a decent rebounder in college, im sure he'll be fine as a pro. something worth watching would be how he boxes out. i dont think i've ever payed attention to that.

^That was how Barkley got a lot of his rebounds. He didn't out jump people, he just positioned himself right. i'd like to have a non athletic but former good rebounder help him out with that technique.
