View Full Version : Lindsey Hunter suspended 10 games for testing positive for banned substance
Just heard it on WDFN and seen on ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2791107):
The NBA announced Wednesday that Pistons' point guard Lindsey Hunter has been suspended without pay for 10 games for testing positive for phentermine, a weight loss pill banned by the league.
Hunter scored 20 points, matching his total as a Pistons rookie in Golden State's 1993 win at the Palace, in Detroit's 111-93 loss to the Warriors Monday night.
Hunter's suspension will begin with Wednesday night's game between the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Glenn 03-07-2007, 06:07 PM I'll be damned.
I guess we should have traded for another PG, lol.
<Mateen alert>
shags 03-07-2007, 06:10 PM I wonder if we'll be allowed to have 12 active players on the roster, or 11 with Lindsay counting as the 12th? If we can place Lindsay on the suspended list, then Blalock will be called up from the D-League immediately.
Glenn 03-07-2007, 06:13 PM Blalock may be called back in any case, even if they have to deactivate Nazr or DD (in addition to Dupree or Sheed).
Actually, it's even possible that Dupree could be waived so Joe can sign a 10-day PG (that's where the Mateen alert comes in).
Zekyl 03-07-2007, 06:16 PM WTFDetroit should be proud. I saw the Hunter suspension on the ESPN ticker while watching SportsCenter and I immediately went to my computer and came here to find out what was up instead of ESPN or detroitpistons.com
Anyone know what this drug does? How harsh is this weight loss suplement? What's in it?
Glenn 03-07-2007, 06:18 PM Flip Murray could also be played some, or waived.
Zekyl 03-07-2007, 06:20 PM OH GOD, I DOUBT WE CAN GET BLALOCK HERE BY GAMETIME! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS?!?!?!
FUCK-A-FLIP IS OUR BACKUP PG FOR TONIGHT!

Lindsey said an interview that the prescription pills belonged to his wife......i still don't get why he took them.
I hope he wasnt taking it for game time energy, it is related to amphetamines. If not by tonights game, hopefully we get a lil Blalock.

Isn't Dupree in the first year of a two year deal??? I think that precludes us from realistically waiving him even though he doesn't make that much.

Hey, look at the bright side, you don't have 1,000 alpacas on the line like someone here does.

I think he's got a player option, just like Flip Murray does.
metr0man 03-07-2007, 07:49 PM looks like a 40+ minute game for Chauncey.
micknugget 03-07-2007, 08:55 PM How does a player option work when a player is waived? Does it just disappear??
Darth Thanatos 03-07-2007, 10:57 PM Suspended for taking pills? BOOOOOOOOOO! And it's without pay too, which is BS. Ron Artest' crazy ass gets paid, but not LH?
But I guess this explains why Lindsey has been playing good for the 1st time in 10 years.

He was tested in mid-January. He shot 44% that month, far better than what he had been any other month.

If this report is accurate, and if all player options are structured alike, then here's your answer, well, sort of:
Re: Eddie Griffin
Griffin held a $2.9 million player option for next season, but his release voids that. It wasn't immediately clear if the Wolves and Griffin agreed to a buyout.

I don't know if that applies to all players with POs or just him. They might get to void his due to a morality clause. Many contracts have them.
If you can do that with any player, I would guess it's goodbye to Dupree and Flip!!!!!!!!!

But I also love the Pistons’ chances against anybody because they have six starters. Antonio McDyess starts for a lot of teams and could start for this team. When you have six guys that capable, and your sixth guy happens to be a big guy and a power player, it makes all the difference in the world. And their bench is now better than it has been at any time in recent memory. And hopefully Lindsey Hunter reads this. I hope he does not even think about retiring because he’s still a bona fide player in this league and a very significant contributor on a potential championship team. I know there’s a lot of talk about going out on top, but he’s still too good to think about quitting.
Uncle Mxy 03-16-2007, 09:42 AM Tonight's the game where we could use Lindsey the most.
(Ok, so I turned out to be dead fucking wrong and Flip Murray becomes the second coming. Fuck me.)
Glenn 03-16-2007, 09:43 AM I can think of another PG that we don't have that we could use tonight as well.
Joe can sign Horace Jenkins to a 10-day any time he wants. I don't know why he's being so stubborn.

Glenn I've been trying to figure out who that is all day. But since he's on seattle I'm just gonna assume you mean Mike Wilks.
WTFchris 03-19-2007, 02:51 PM Hmm, Ridinour must have gone tanning or something...
