View Full Version : Race for #1 seed

Right now it's a 3 horse race for the presidents cup with Detroit, Buffalo and Nashville. I'm not worried about finishing above Buffalo, but first in the conference/division is important. The 5-8 seeds are separated by 3 points, which means a tight race there. Whoever ends up the 8th seed will likely be a team on a slide, since the 9th seed is 8 points back and would have to be really hot to catch up. I'd much rather have the team sliding than the team that wins the 4 horse race for the #5 seed. Plus you'd have home ice instead of maybe playing on the road.

Nashville's Schedule:

Thu. 8 Calgary
Sat. 10 Columbus
Tue. 13 Detroit
Wed. 14 at Detroit
Sat. 17 Dallas
Wed. 21 at Vancouver
Thu. 22 at Calgary
Fri. 23 at Calgary
Sat. 24 at Edmonton
Tue. 27 Edmonton
Thu. 29 Detroit
Sat. 31 Dallas
Tue. 3 Chicago
Thu. 5 St. Louis
Sat. 7 at Colorado

Detroit's:

Fri. 9 Los Angeles
Sun. 11 Boston
Tue. 13 at Nashville
Wed. 14 Nashville
Sat. 17 at Vancouver
Tue. 20 at Calgary
Thu. 22 Columbus
Sat. 24 St. Louis
Mon. 26 Anaheim
Thu. 29 at Nashville
Fri. 30 Dallas
Sun. 1 at Columbus
Tue. 3 Columbus
Thu. 5 at Chicago
Sat. 7 Chicago

I think we have a huge advantage here. The Preds have 4 games on consecutive nights on the road in Canada (not easy at all) and only play chicago and columbus once each (they suck). We have Columbus three times, Chicago twice, and LA too. Plus we have a ton of guys hurt that will be back in a couple weeks.

Lets get this done Wings.

I don't think that is right Chris. I just checked and they don't play calgary on the 22nd.

check again (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/teams/schedule?team=nsh)

and again (http://www.nashvillepredators.com/schedule/)

NHL.com does not have the game on the 23rd though. Wierd. I will check the number of games to see what happened there. But those are the schedules right from ESPN.

The second link shows they play 21/22/24 which is realistic. I have never seen more than back to back games for the NBA/NHL.

I really think Calder is providing a spark as well. He is in on every play, hustling more than any player on the ice. I really like that pick-up.

WTFchris

They've played 68 games so far (according to both sites), so they should only have 14 games left. That would suggest ESPN has the game on the 23rd in error. Ticketmaster also does not have the game on the 23rd.

Regardless, their schedule is still tough, and 3 games in 4 nights there is still tough.

I never have either. I thought that was harsh but assumed they had one of those games as a makeup (not sure why you'd have to make up a NHL game unless there were building issues or something). Get your shit together ESPN!

Man, if the Red Wings win that President's Cup, I'm gonna go CRAZY! God how I love seeing my Wings hoist the President's Cup. They deserve it, they've been playing so hard. Come on, Wings!
Go get that President's Cup!

Lol. Although, this is the one year where it would be an accomplishment to win that.

Man you go away for a couple months and suddenly WTFDETROIT is talking hockey?

as the Resident and probably only Nashville fan outside of the greater Tennessee area I'd have to say they've got the Presidents Trophy wrapped up
IF they can get over their injuries

as they stand right now these guys are out of the line-up

Forsberg
Sullivan
Hartnell
Zidlicky
Nichol

and these guys are playing hurt
Visnevski
Tootoo
Arnott

and they still battled Detroit to a stand still the other night
Hopefully they can step up to the plate again

Keep in mind Detroit was missing Hasek, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Sameulson, Clearly and Bertuzzi. That is 5 of their top 7 forwards/centers and their #1 goalie. They had Filpulla playing on the #1 line (was on the 4th line a week ago) and Franzen too (was on the checking line all year, sometimes a scratch). They had 4 guys from Grand Rapids playing (that were called up within a week), and their backup goalie too.

This is going to be fun to watch with everyone back.

You beat me to saying that Chris. Both teams were beat up, Detroit more so in my opinion.

I miss when the Chicago Blackhawks were still in the league.

Wait, you mean they still ARE in the league?!

GREAT game tonight between Buffalo and Pittsburgh. Sydney Crosby is going to light the NHL up for a long time. Pittsburgh got their new arena deal today and celebrated.
This game was up and down from the start. Pittsburgh was up 4-2 with about seven minutes to go and Buffalo tied it with two late goals, the last one coming with six seconds to go.
The Penguins then won in a shootout (the first one I've ever seen).
If THIS is the new NHL, count me in. Why more people don;t like this game as opposed to the ferries in shorts and whistle tooting free throw shooting contest that basketball is, is beyond me.

The NHL pussification is parallel to the pussification of the NBA.

I can NOT believe you think the NHL is pussified.
If the NHL is pussified, then basketball never had a dick to begin with. Look at your signature.
The leagues star player is crying worse than a European Soccer faggot, and the other guy is one of the three ugliest people in the world.

Out of curiosity, who are the other 2 ugliest people? Also, the NHL is not pussy, but it is a pussified version of its former self. It used to have a lot more hard hitting and fighting. It still puts basketball to shame when it comes to physicality though.

As for the fighting, and the stickwork, and the general "goonery", I don't miss it.
Wow. A fight! Two guys trying to pull each other's jersey off. I can do that at night with my wife.

The NHL has been in the process of being pussified since the early 90's

Well the wings went 6-1-1 against the predators this season........I'd say they own them.

The Wings are definitely inside the Predators heads
