Game 58: Detroit Pistons vs. Golden State Warriors
TV: FSN Detroit; Radio: WDFN 1130 AM - The Fan
Monday, March 5, 2007
The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills, MI
Probable Starters | Game Notes | Injury Report | Tix
The skinny: After narrowly beating the team with the NBA’s worst record on Saturday, the Pistons come home to face a reeling team in Golden State. The Warriors are on a six-game losing streak that has seen them virtually fall out of playoff contention at 26-35. Golden State, a 6-25 road team, is on the last of a five-game road trip and playing without both Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson. Not that the Warriors needed any more obstacles, but they’re faced with several. Not only did they suffer an emotionally wrenching loss Sunday at Washington when Gilbert Arenas made three free throws with one-tenth of a second left to win by one, it was enabled by a technical foul called on coach Don Nelson. Three starters played heavy minutes, too, with guards Jason Richardson and Monta Ellis both going over 43.
What to watch: Rasheed Wallace has skipped the last two games with a sprained left foot and could be held out again if the coaching staff figures it could survive Golden State with less than a full cast. The Pistons were nowhere near as sharp as they’d been in their weekend split with Miami and Memphis, but they don’t have much room for error in their unforgiving March schedule. After tonight and Wednesday’s game with visiting Cleveland, the Pistons hit the road for five games as part of a March that will see them play 11 of their 17 games away from The Palace.
