The Pistons are a rhythm team, one that succeeds in back-to-back situations and with little time off.
With the daunting month of March ahead -- 11 of 17 games on the road -- coach Flip Saunders said this week that the most challenging game ahead might be tonight against Miami.
Why? Because the Pistons are coming off a four-day layoff in which practices were limited due to players missing time for various reasons.
As for all those road games? Remember, the Pistons are 17-9 away from home and are the only Eastern Conference team with a winning road record.
"I think that we like playing on the road, point-blank," Saunders said. "For us, I don't think it matters where you're playing as long as you play well and you're hopefully healthy. Those are the two things you've got to do. I think our success on the road is because, one, we don't turn the ball over so we don't beat ourselves, and people don't have runs, and usually we shoot free throws pretty well. If you do those two things exceptionally well, you have opportunities to be successful on the road."
The Pistons are fifth in the league in free-throw shooting percentage (78.6%) and lead the league in fewest turnovers per game (12.29).
