Hill injured..again.

When Jamal Crawford informed Stephon Marbury on Tuesday morning Crawford was out for the season, the Knicks point guard thought the combo guard was joking. When Marbury realized Crawford was serious, Marbury broke down and cried for more than a minute, according to a team source.
Marbury said of his initial reaction to Crawford's season-ending stress fracture: "I was shocked. I thought he was playing at first.

"It hit me hard because of everything that's going on, as far as making the playoffs and just for him, because of how much he's grown since he's been here," Marbury added. "It's been an uphill battle for him and finally he got to this point and has an understanding of what he can do on the basketball court. It's tough to see a young player go through that."

crybury...okay that was lame as fuck.

Radmanobitch out 8 weeks after seperating his shoulder slipping on ice "while walking" in Utah. He's now admitting he injured it snowboarding.
Continuing the coverage of a story that only I am paying attention to. The Lakers are now figuring out how much they want to fine him for the lie.

Attempting to void his contract is considered too extreme by Lakers officials, but a fine is expected in the next day or two.

That was quick.

For the separated shoulder he suffered while snowboarding on that ill-fated trip, violating the terms of his contract, Radmanovic will pay a $500,000 fine.

"I made a mistake," Radmanovic said, "and obviously there's a price for that mistake."

After much internal debate, that was the punishment the Lakers agreed was appropriate for Radmanovic, who is expected to be sidelined until mid-April with the injury. Radmanovic said he won't appeal the fine.

"I was prepared for everything," Radmanovic said. "They came up with a number. I think it's fair for what I did. I just want to move forward and try to get healthy and get back on the court."

Lakers' Kobe Bryant Suspended
Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers has been suspended one game without pay for striking Minnesota Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric in the face, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

NBA suspends Kobe for tonight's game vs. Bucks

By Chris Sheridan
ESPN.com

The NBA is suspending Lakers guard Kobe Bryant for Wednesday night's game at Milwaukee for catching Minnesota Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric in the face Tuesday night.

After getting his shot blocked by Jaric, Bryant flailed his arms and caught Jaric in the face with 58.7 seconds left in regulation Tuesday.

Bryant was called for a foul on the play. Bryant struck San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili in the face in similar fashion with two-tenths of a second left in the fourth quarter of the Lakers' 96-94 overtime loss Jan. 28 against the Spurs.

Bryant was not called for a foul on that play, but was suspended for the Lakers' next game.

Bryant was suspended for what league disciplinarian Stu Jackson called driving "a stiff arm backward."

Yes you can. It's called a double foul. It's the sort of thing a superstar gets when a bench player did something entirely right, but there is so much love in the universe for the superstar that their dignity cannot be assailed without taking the bench player along for the ride.

Oh wait, that's Bron Bron. :)

Kings allow Artest to return to team

By AARON DAVIS, Associated Press Writer
March 10, 2007

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The Sacramento Kings said Saturday they will allow Ron Artest to return to the team, five days after his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence.

The Kings called a news conference for Saturday afternoon to discuss the return of the controversial forward after missing two games. Sacramento hosts the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.

Artest was excused from all team activities Tuesday, one day after being arrested at his home in a Sacramento suburb. A woman called 911 and said she had been assaulted, and a police report said Artest had slapped the woman's face and grabbed her repeatedly, causing visible injuries on her hand and leg.

Artest was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and using force or violence to prevent the woman from reporting a crime. He was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bond and is awaiting a March 22 arraignment.

Sacramento beat the Indiana Pacers and lost to the San Antonio Spurs in two home games since Artest was banished. The Kings began the weekend just one game behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Artest, acquired 14 months ago in a trade with Indiana, is the Kings' second-leading scorer. He averages 18.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Artest is best known as the central figure in the 2004 brawl between Indiana Pacers players and Detroit Pistons fans. After jumping into the stands to slug it out with the public, he received a 73-game suspension for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs, costing him almost $5 million in salary.

Artest and teammate Stephen Jackson were sentenced to one year of probation and 60 hours of community service after pleading no contest to misdemeanor assault charges. In January, Artest was released from that probation.

Thomas shows 'evident progress'; earns new deal

ESPN.com news services

NEW YORK -- Isiah Thomas has shown enough "evident progress" to earn a multiyear contract extension, several New York-area newspapers reported Monday.

The New York Times, citing a person "briefed on the matter," says Thomas will sign the new deal to remain both team president and head coach on Monday. The Knicks are 29-34, but are in the hunt for their first playoff berth since 2004.

The Knicks won 23 games last year under Larry Brown, who was later fired.

A spokesman for Madison Square Garden said that Knicks owner James Dolan will meet with reporters on Monday morning. He is expected to announce Thomas' extension during that meeting.

No terms of Thomas' reported extention were cited. He is the Knicks' fifth head coach since Jeff van Gundy resigned in Dec. 2001.

Vecsey thinks the Blazers may make another run at John Hammond

Who might Paul Bunionaire hire to succeed Steve Patterson as Blazers president and GM? Based on interim Kevin Pritchard's model performance and stainless presence, I assume he's the leading applicant to handle personnel.

At the same time, I'm guessing outgoing Grizzly superintendent Jerry West will be contacted about the top job despite his "ironclad" decision to retire. Allen has a history of reaching for the big names first and, if unsuccessful, might want an untarnished name like John Hammond. Joe Dumars' sounding board in Detroit was offered the job in 2003.

Let the LB rumors resume...

Jordan: Bickerstaff won't return as coach

Associated Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Bernie Bickerstaff will not return as coach of the Charlotte Bobcats next season but will be invited to stay with the organization.

Part-owner Michael Jordan said Tuesday that Bickerstaff, who also serves as general manager, will finish the season and remains an "integral part" of the franchise. Charlotte is 23-41 and last in the Southeast Division.

"I don't see him distancing himself away," Jordan said. "I feel he's been an important part to getting this franchise to where it is now. It will give me the most pleasure to continue that process until we get to where we have to go."

Bickerstaff, 67-161 in three seasons, said when he was first hired to run the expansion team that he wanted to coach for only two or three years before becoming the full-time general manager. But when Jordan was brought in as a minority owner and given the final say on basketball decisions, Bickerstaff's future was in doubt.

"I want him involved," Jordan said. "We just haven't decided if that's as general manager or president of basketball operations. I see him staying with the organization."

Jordan, in his first meeting with local reporters since June, said he has yet to begin a search for a new coach.

"We haven't got to that point," Jordan said. "Bernie is still going to finish out the season. When the season is over, he and I will sit down and have those type of conversations -- who best suits the structure of players we have on this team."

Jordan also said the team plans to try to re-sign leading scorer Gerald Wallace if he opts out of the final year of his contract and becomes a free agent this summer, along with leading rebounder and shot blocker Emeka Okafor, who is eligible for a contract extension at the end of the season.

Jordan said it was Bickerstaff's decision and that he would finish the season as coach. The Bobcats don't have a particular coach in mind to replace Bickerstaff, Jordan said, but he said the most important attributes in a new coach are teaching skills and patience. He said former NBA coach Larry Brown would be on a list of potential candidates.

I would love this, to be honest.

Having LB as a coach in this league is good for the NBA.

Ainge fined $30,000 for contact with Durant’s mother

By Associated Press
Monday, March 19, 2007 - Updated: 05:47 AM EST

BOSTON - The Boston Celtics confirmed Sunday that the team had been fined $30,000 by the NBA for excessive contact with the family of Texas star freshman and likely lottery draft pick Kevin Durant.

The Celtics General Manager sat next to Durant’s mother during the Big 12 tournament.

The league said Ainge violated rules demanding that contact be kept to a minimum between team executives and potential NBA draft picks, until college players officially declare for the draft.

Sports Illustrated first reported the story on its Web site.

Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said Ainge is on the road scouting players and he did not offer specifics of the fine.

The Celtics won in San Antonio for the first time in 17 years Saturday, topping the Spurs 91-85. At 20-46 on the year, the team has the league’s second-worst record behind the Memphis Grizzlies.

Artest ordered to stay away from family

By DON THOMPSON, Associated Press Writer
March 22, 2007

AP - Mar 22, 12:55 pm EDT

AUBURN, Calif. (AP) -- Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest pleaded not guilty Thursday to misdemeanor charges stemming from a domestic dispute with his wife earlier this month.

A Placer County Superior Court judge also ordered him to stay at least 100 yards away from his wife and children until further notice.

Artest's attorney, William Portanova, entered pleas of not guilty to charges of battery and corporal injury to a spouse, false imprisonment and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.

Artest sat in the audience section of the small courtroom among other defendants and members of the media. He spoke only when asked direct questions by Judge Francis Kearney, responding no when asked if he owned firearms and yes when asked if he understood the conditions of the restraining order.

Thomas Leupp, an attorney for Kimsha Artest, told the judge Artest's wife was not requesting a restraining order. Artest will be allowed to communicate with his family by telephone, e-mail and letter, the judge said.

"We all decided that was the right thing to do for the family," Portanova said. "That is the right thing for now."

Artest is due back in court April 5.

He was arrested March 5 at his estate in Loomis, 25 miles northeast of Sacramento. He is accused of grabbing, pushing and slapping his wife during an argument. The couple's 3-year-old daughter was home at the time.

Artest has since apologized to his family and his teammates, and sat out two games.

He did not answer reporters' questions after Thursday's hearing and then left for Arizona to join the team for tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns.

Artest's only interaction with others in the courtroom came when a fellow defendant turned to Artest and said "good luck" as the hearing began.

John Carpenter, who lives in the Sacramento suburb of Roseville and was in court facing his own domestic violence charges, then gestured to Artest, holding out his fist. Artest responded with a fist pump.

Outside the courtroom, Artest, Portanova and a body guard left in a black Yukon SUV as seven protesters held signs and chanted the player should face even more charges -- for the alleged neglect of his dog.

Last month, county animal control officers seized Artest's Great Dane, Socks, because it wasn't being fed. The dog has since been released to the custody of one of his lawyers.

"He really shouldn't have animals," said Heather Ireland, a spokeswoman for the group.

Assistant District Attorney Dan Quick told the judge the county is still considering animal abuse charges.

http://www.newshounds.us/2007/03/23/john_gibson_attacks_loose_change_charlie_sheen_in_ onesided_report.php

Charlie Sheen is reportedly talking with Mark Cuban's Magnolia Pictures to provide narration for a new release of the Internet movie "Loose Change," which challenges the official story of the events of 9/11 and suggests that elements within the US government may have allowed or even facilitated the disasters. Sheen does not believe the official accounts. On The Big Story today, "the Big Outrage" dealt with his dealings and with the "twisted theories" in the movie. 9/11 survivor and author Earl johnson was the sole guest to discuss and discredit the movie and the alternative theories.

Gibson mischaracterized Sheen as "the mastermind" behind "what will be no doubt a ridiculous film." No bias there.

Johnson, asked what he thinks about the fact that so many people in this country subscribe to the alternate theories, replied that the better question is why are people posing them in the first place? (Comment: the answert o both questions is lack of trust, and suspicion.) He says that merely being exposed to these theories influences people's perceptions and openness to the ideas. He thinks the wider release will do a tremendous amount of damage (to people still recovering from personal loss) and hoped that proceeds will go to families of victims, so there is no financial incentive to "post this garbage, and promote it."

Johnson said that Googling will provide people with plenty of information to counter the conspiracy theories, and offered that the "mini-myth" surrounding Flight 93 was rebutted by transcripts and recorded phone calls. The interview then ended.

At least Gibson didn't go after Charlie Sheen like Bill O'Reilly did, who said that if Sheen does this narration his career is over. That wasn't a threat, he said, just a prediction because he knows this country, yada yada. Does he know that last August 36% of poll respondents said they believed the US Government was at least negligent and possibly complicit in the attacks? Right or wrong, these numbers are evidence of a huge lack of trust in the current administration.

FOX doesn't address this issue often - they don't want to make any more people aware of the controversey - but when they do, it is ridiculed and called "garbage." It's as if they only bring it up when it's in the news elsewhere so they have to, but they immediately shoot it right back down.

I saw 10 minutes of one of her movies.
I am going to stay healthy the rest of my life just to get those minutes back.

predictions: artest doesnt see the end of the nba season and the clock is ticking on his nba career. he's stopped making his teams better, so at this point he's just a freek show. dave stern will not allow just a freek show to stick around too long.

artest says he's going to retire/ play overseas. the clock is ticking on his nba career. good call, me.

Raptors are getting hammered with injuries, not only Bargnani, now it's Garbajosa.

Jorge Garbajosa: Suffers Serious Leg Injury

Tuesday, March 27, 2007

Update: Garbajosa left Monday's game with a serious injury to his left leg.

Recommendation: It was a gruesome injury to watch, and he's likely out for the season as a result. Wait for official word, but this doesn't look good.

Wayman Tisdale has cancer. I used to like using him on SNES NBA Basketball, I think he was on the Kings then.

Fall down stairs leads to discovery of knee cancer
ESPN.com news services

TULSA, Okla. -- Former University of Oklahoma basketball All-American Wayman Tisdale says he is being treated for cancer and expects "a complete recovery."

A malignant mass was found below his right knee after he fell down a flight of stairs and broke his leg Feb. 8 at his home in Los Angeles, said Tisdale, who also has a home in Tulsa.

"It's just one of those bad deals, you know," Tisdale said. "But I actually thank God for the broken leg."

Treatment is expected to last six months starting with his first chemotherapy session next week and he is scheduled to undergo knee-replacement surgery in Tulsa in May.

Tisdale, 42, was a three-time All-American at OU after signing with the Sooners out of Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa.

He also helped the U.S. win an Olympic gold medal in basketball in 1984 and played for 12 years in the NBA.

The Indiana Pacers made Tisdale the second overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft. He averaged over 15 points and six rebounds in a 12-season career with the Pacers, Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns.

I hope this doesn't affect the recording of his newest Jazz album.
