View Full Version : OGT: Michigan State @ Michigan
Baker 02-27-2007, 08:40 AM Well, this should be a good one. The first contest was close in the first half and turned out to be a bit of a rout, but this one is in Ann Arbor. Maybe I'm wrong, but this might be senior night for the Wolverines too which always inspires. I'm really looking forward to this game. I can't wait to see if the Spartans can go into a hostile environment and pull out yet another victory. A win tonight would just add to the resume, improve their BT standing, and give them 22 victories on the year.
Billy Packer pointed out Sunday that MSU has the worst (most difficult) schedule in the BT. 22 wins with this schedule is like 25 with some of the schedules others have. Should be a good game. I look for Michigan to come out with more intensity than they've had all year. My prediction is that the Spartans handle the energy and match it. Spartan win tonight.
Go State!
MoTown 02-27-2007, 09:02 AM Let's do some math.
Spartans are on a roll. They're a lock for the tourney with the win over Wisconsin. MSU wants to officially lock it up with one more win tonight.
On the flip side. Michigan needs a win. They're facing some adversity. They need to come up big.
All signs point to an MSU blowout.
WTFchris 02-27-2007, 09:41 AM I don't think it will be a blowout with Nietzal not %100. I look for a close win for MSU (maybe 7 points).
HipDigIt 02-27-2007, 10:27 AM These stiffs have not been kind to me when I predict them to show up. Still tonight is their SEASON. They are about due to show up for a big game (understatement) so I'm very wary. A2 can cull a little self respect with a "W". Then again you wonder if these guys even care. There is talent on Blue's team. Physical talent. MSU has overachieved all year. They win it, they will show a determined growth spurt. They are kind of under the weather. The larger question is if that slug Ref Phil Bova shows up. He, of course the guy who singlehandedly whistled A2 back into the win against the "3 zillionaires" last year sending A2 to the line 34 times compared to MSU's 10. By the by, he hasn't worked an MSU game since. U-Mum 57-MSU 52.
Zip Goshboots 02-27-2007, 10:56 AM hipdigit:
Man, the words roll out of your computer like fine wine. Only, I'm not a "Wine Snob", so for me it's like a fine Guiness.
Anyway, you have given WAY to much respect to Michigan this year, football and basketball, and I am going to respectfully disagree. I think that no matter how unispired, or sick, or otherwise all dead, MSU rolls tonight.
We're talking "Maize Rage" here tonight, not the Izzone. Michigan just has no feeling for what they are doing, and their talent is severely lacking. I think the "Maize Rage" turns into the "Corn Scorn" well before halftime, and The Izzo puts the finishing touches on a very nice season, 69-53.
Baker 02-27-2007, 12:57 PM Saying Neitzel is not 100% is an understatement. I'm completely changing my prediction. Izzo said that Neitzel hasn't practiced for two days and he might not play tonight. He's been in bed for two days with a bad case of the flu.
What a gift to Michigan! Sucks, just when things were rolling our leader might not play. UGH! I went from excited to not wanting to watch it.
Glenn 02-27-2007, 12:58 PM Oh, the courage and leadership if he plays!!
Seriously, this shit is starting to sound as scripted as the WWE.
"It's broken!!"
:mateen:
FillyCheezeSteak 02-27-2007, 01:39 PM I've known about Neitzel having the flu since the Indiana game on Saturday night........why is this just now coming to fruition? For the last two days on both the Michigan and Michigan State boards this has been all the talk. Does anyone remember Erin Andrews comment during the Indiana game Saturday night?
Bold Prediction: Michigan State wins on the road and Neitzel scores 26 including 6 three pointers and he is mentioned in the same breath as Kobe, MJ, Willis Reed and Mateen. The real question is will he go in and halftime and receive fluids for dehydration? My vote is no, too over the top tonight.

Kobe never played college bball. How can Drew be mentioned with him?
Zip Goshboots 02-27-2007, 02:09 PM Is Neitzel in Colorado this afternoon?
FillyCheezeSteak 02-27-2007, 02:26 PM I was referring to when Kobe pulled an MJ and went off while playing with the flu. Not last night either. Do I need to explain each scenario to you or do you know who Willis is?
Zip Goshboots 02-27-2007, 02:32 PM Yes, I know who Willis is. He and his brother Orville invented the airplane.
Are you saying Neitzel is going to invent the airplane in his next game?
FillyCheezeSteak 02-27-2007, 02:46 PM Thats odd Zip, at no point was I talking to you, but yet you come back with some idiotic post..........thanks for making us all a little more stupid today.
Artermis 02-27-2007, 03:38 PM Wish UM on spring break this week; I really expect MSU to have a larger crowd than usual at Crisler.
Zip Goshboots 02-27-2007, 04:31 PM Sorry filly, i thought you were talking to me.
But, I'll bet you're mighty impressed I know who Willis Wright is.
I know my history, baby.
Moodini31 02-27-2007, 05:36 PM I think Neitzel plays, and plays well. MSU by 8. Tommy...canned....please!
Baker 02-27-2007, 08:03 PM Filly, i think everyone knew he had the flu because they did mention it during the Indiana game, but I figured he would be okay by now. I didn't know how bad it was. When he tells Izzo he can't come to the shoot around today, he is seriously sick.
It's halftime now and I've hated watching this game. I'm totally a "what if" fan and I spent the whole first half thinking what if Neitzel was in, what if Dahlman wasn't logging tons of minutes, what if Neitzel was full speed. 2 of 3 free throws missed?! Ugh!
I want to stay optimistic, but I'm so frustrated by the fact that our one guy that we can't afford to miss is sick right when we started playing our best ball. Hopefully Walton can step it up in the 2nd half and our D will take over again.
Zip Goshboots 02-27-2007, 09:00 PM Moodini, I'm watching your signature, and besides the fact that nobody has shrunk it, I remember how, in that epsode of SNL, Chris Kattan and Will Farell out Jim Carry'd Jim Carry!
He was intimidated by those two, and couldn't hide it! GENIUS!
That's Farrell for you. Gotta watch out for him.
Glenn 02-27-2007, 09:09 PM Horrible loss for State, this Michigan team blows.
What's this 1-7 on the road in "real road games" that Lavin was referring to? WTF does that mean?
UM doesn't deserve to make the NCAA Tourney, I hope the selection committee is not fooled.

Would be interesting to face State again in the NIT Finals.
JickBoy34 02-27-2007, 09:34 PM lol
Glenn 02-27-2007, 09:37 PM You're right to lol, because that's a joke.
State is going to make the NCAA's based on their big win last week and on Izzo's reputation.
He's built a hell of a program, and with that comes perks. I get that.
SpartyNick 02-27-2007, 10:40 PM Good to see Michigan's seniors come and play when it counts. Solid win for them and the team. Props to the Maize and Blue this evening.
theMUHMEshow 02-27-2007, 11:10 PM ...ahh well. I was wrong. I told Valenti 63-59 MSU before the tip...I was wrong.
This win doesnt really mean that much to me unless they get into the tourney. If Michigan beats their real rival then I will be happy.
Zip Goshboots 02-27-2007, 11:19 PM Courtney Sims played a pretty solid, agressive game.
But Courtney: WHERE THE FUCK YOU BEEN FOR FOUR YEARS?
Remember guys: When hipdigit calls it, you can usually bank it, about 96% of the time.
When I call it, you can usually bank it, about .96% of the time.
b-diddy 02-27-2007, 11:23 PM fully expected it. just one step closer to the big dance.
and even if we dont get in, amaker has unfinished business in the NIT (cue final countdown).

State will make the tourney. They were in with their win over Wisconsin IMO. The next few games for them (wisc and big ten tourney games) will detrimine if they are in the 7 seed range or the 10 seed range.
And U of M has to beat OSU or win a second round game (against OSU or Wisc) to get in the big dance IMO.
Moodini31 02-28-2007, 10:57 AM Whoop-dee-frickin' doo! [smilie=handjob.gif] Now we get to get worked by the Bucks on Saturday and head to the NIT. Amaker.....please stop winning. It's just not worth it.

I am still LMFAO at being 2-2 vs MSU the past two years.

"*" by both wins. Michigan did earn this win contrary to last year because they had a few players play well and they played aggressively. So I give their squad props, although as Moodini pointed out it doesn't mean much. But Naymick, Morgan, and obviously Neitzel were all very sick. This game turns out pretty similar to the first contest with a healthy Neitzel alone.
LMFAO that Muhme doesn't show his grill here for 3 months and then pipes in with a little shot here and there after the UM win. You're probably laughing your ass off because you've seen 3-4 wins in the last 20-25 meetings.
