What a gigantic opportunity for the Spartans. A win tonight over the hated Bo Ryan and we would be a lock for the tournament and would now be working on a better seed. I think the Spartans match up real well with Wisconsin. The key being Raymar Morgan on Tucker. I actually compared Raymar prior to the season to Tucker and I think this will be a key matchup. If the Spartans could hold him to around 15-16 pts, they have a chance. I would like nothing more than to gain a victory over the #1 team in the country, cost them a possible BT title, and make it two in a row over queer Ryan.

Go State!

I noticed MSU is in "next last 4 out" in bracketology this week. A win would put them in I suspect. Hopefully they get it done.

I really don't get that. They'll probably have 20 wins and an RPI of around 35. That is a very solid RPI. Not to mention the fact that they have the most difficult schedule in the BT.

MSU's RPI is 31 last I saw. I believe by season's end they will have played the Top 5, 5 times. I have no warm fuzzy feeling about tonight. Wisconsin with 3 seniors and 2 juniors starting is the better team. Simple dimple. If the Clearasil Crew hangs around they will grow. That would be a morale victory. BoBo has had DaMaster's number 7 of the last 9. The opening line was -1.5 and quickly went to 2.5 I hop the "public is wrong" indeed. I'm skeptical.....Oh and I also think they go dancing. If they do it will be due more to "rep" than "righteousness."

Man I've never been so thrilled to lose a bet. These guys just kicked in the door to the dance and said "Fuck that cover charge!" Instead of chalking up Cheezitz as a loss they took 'em head on and prevailed. I'd like to give major props to the most underappreciated of the Spartans, Drew Naymick. He has played so well of late. The little things. He busts out on the picks out high and gets back to his guy. He moves his feet tirelessly and has done a hell of a job not letting his guy do the up and under baseline and forcing them back into help "D". He's the first guy on the floor for a scrum. He's altering whatever he's not swatting. He just really needs to drop a couple in like the first bucket of the game and get some confidence on the "O". I think he's just starting to tap into the player he can be after nasty shoulder surgery impeded his ability to raise his shooting arm over his head. I'm thrilled that he will be back to lead and blossom in his senior year next season. Raymar is a Motherfucker and he appears to be getting stronger every time out. You can see how his missing those games hurt this team. T-Walton really was a tremendous supplement to D-Nices' play. Those were all big hoops and it's great to see him look to the bucket. D-Nice? What the fuck can you say? Gutty non-stop motor with a feathery touch. The right handed runner was balls out late. Just a tremendous display. I wonder if down deep in hindsight that Izzo doesn't wish he would have given the kid the green light more with the three millionaires last year. These guys are the nutz to watch. Huge win for the program on ESPN. Kudos to DaMaster for a great game plan.

This is one of the biggest Spartan victories in my lifetime! Not only did they beat the #1 team in the country, they beat their biggest rival in the Big Ten. Tom Izzo and the Spartan faithful despise Bo Ryan and there is nothing better than beating his ass and sending him home with what might be the loss that prevents them a BT title. I totally respect Wisconsin's players, but there is nobody in basketball that I hate more than Bo Ryan after some of the things he has done and said regarding MSU games. I hope this one stings bad for him.

Now for the Spartans. It will probably get overlooked with the performance that LIGHTS OUT put on tonight, but Travis Walton played like a warrior. 13 pts, 7 rebs, and 10 assists????!!!!! That is an unbelievable performance. And Neitzel...what can you say that hasn't already been said. He's a buck 70, 6'1", getting doubled and triple teamed at times, little offensive help, and he's just a stone cold killer out there. Not only that but he puts on his best performances against the best competition. Think about the best teams he's faced this year #25 Texas (20 pts, Game Winning shot), #4 OSU (Goes off twice against them scoring 24+ in both), and now #1 Wisconsin. Puts the team on his back and goes OFF.

Yo Jethro, does he deserve the nickname now?

Yo Hip, you are sooo dead on with your assessment. Naymick has been flat out ballin' lately. He does all of the things that the educated basketball fan appreciates. While the casual fan is admiring the dunk, the student of the game is seeing Naymick jump out on picks turning the penetration back away from a switch. They are seeing the hand up Naymick is getting on shooters. He's been a key lately. Much props to the unlikely big game performer.

I actually had a pretty good feeling about this game yesterday, but I didn't say anything because my predictions all go wrong (see my alpaca account). Great win for MSU, they have to be in now. If they can just win out (besides at Wisc) then they'll be in great shape.

I had a good feeling too. I just thought MSU has the right type of team to beat Wisconsin. They matchup well. Alando Tucker said MSU had the best defense he has seen yet.

I was pumped about Tucker being held to 16. I said in my original post that I thought he needed to be held to 15-16 for MSU to win and MSU did just that.

Nice win for the Spartans. Neitzel is a straight killa. But damn, is it that freaking impossible to win in the Big Ten on the road?

If you are playing anybody from the middle of the pack on up in the BT on the road, you have no chance. The environments are just so tough to play in and the teams just feed on the energy. The Izzone is absolutely sick! They made the Michigan game atmosphere look like a trip to the library last night.

How many times did the announcer say the wrong team last night?

He kept saying Wisconsin instead of MSU. Trying to think of an example. Like MSU would be on a 8-0 scoring run and he'd say that Wisc was on the run by mistake. i must have heard the wrong team 3 times in a few minutes.

Sorry for the delay in posting but I have been celebrating like a mad man. These are just random thoughts from the game:

My dad actually called me up monday and said that he was getting tickets for the game from his work and wanted to know if I wanted to go. I hesitated for about .1 seconds before I started going nuts. I drove from Chicago on Tuesday afternoon with my roommate, had some pregame beers at the Riv, and made it to the game just in time for the National Anthem. The Breslin Center was off the charts loud. I have never seen anything like that. I know people bag on the Izzone a lot but those kids brought their A game on Tuesday. I had no doubt from the tip that we were going to win. I cannot stress enough how every single fan in that building was into that game from the tip. Its now Thursday and my throat is still sore from screaming the entire game. I had to call into work sick (a la Ferris Bueller) on Tuesday but it was totally worth it. My roommate who is a ND fan told me that he is converting to a Drew Neitzel fan. That kid is just amazing. I don't like when people compare players but the way he puts that team on his back and wills them to win is nothing like I have ever seen (except Mateen). Someone else talked about Waltons play and it was exceptional. I couldn't understand why he was guarding Tucker most the time but it was great D. What a fucking great game to be at. Some of my fellow alumni are pissed about us storming the court but I say Fuck that. We beat the #1 team in the country, a hated rival on ESPN, and all but secured a spot in the dance while supposedly in a "down" year for us. Act like you've been there people say. Well I can't say that any MSU team has done all of that before.

I will cherish this game and this experience forever and it further validates that all of my future children will be going to MSU.

Sounds like you had an amazing time Nuts. It's cool to hear about Spartans that live outside the immediate area. In regards to rushing the floor, I think you only rush the floor for MAJOR wins. You do have to act like you've been there before. BUT...this counts as a MAJOR WIN and rushing the court was totally warranted. I actually was thinking after the game that it's been years since MSU's students rushed the court. We probably hold a higher standard when it comes to that then most. So I had no problem with it, I loved it.
