Red Wings general manager Ken Holland wouldn't confirm or deny speculation that Detroit is interested in acquiring Bertuzzi from Florida, the Detroit News reports.

Too bad hes injured and has been injured for a long ass time

No. Hate that fucker. Reminds me of Rackie (sp?) from Youngblood. Dont want a jackass like that on my team. Dont want to hear bout how he is reformed, just dont care. It would be a black mark on the team. He shouldnt have even been allowed back in the league. I would actually be less of a fan of the Wings to be honest.

I want nothing to do with him. First off he's a jackass like Uxka said. Second, they traded Luongo for him, so they are going to want a good player for him. I'd rather go after Ryan Smyth for cheaper.

I just want one big body. The Wings are in the same predicament they are every year - all finesse, no grit. I fear that as good as they are, they're headed for another early exit. At least one BIG guy can fix that. Bertuzzi and Forsburg are the two that people keep mentioning, and I'm not really excited about either of them.

But don't forget, Chelios was our arch-nemisis for a decade. No one could have imagined him or even wanted him in a Wings uni. But now he's one of not only the Red Wings icons, but the city of Detroit's icons.

I like Foresburg because outside Hank and Pavel we don't have many players who create scoring chances for other players. Hudler, Filpulla, Lang create things for themselves, but don't set anybody up.

Bertuzzi isn't that good anymore. He hasn't been the same since the Steve Moore incident.

I would much rather see the Wings go after Forsberg and Fedoruk instead.

Ryan Smyth = Great player, guy, and maybe Wing? Much better option IMO.

I'd be extremely happy with a healthy Forsberg if we could resign him. If we can't, then he's just a rental that can get us an extra round into the playoffs. With the new salary cap era, we've got to actually keep some of our young talent around to develop. We can't just throw top dollar at whoever we want anymore.

Not really, IMO. Chelios was more hated than Forsberg. He had that fight with Larionov, but I didn't think Forsberg was that hated. Claude, Foote, Reechi, Roy were all more hated than him in my book.

It was a different kind of hate for him. More of a respectful hate. like Joe Sakic. I hated his talent and having to play against him. He was just a damned good player that I never liked seeing against us. I didn't want to see someone go out and kick his ass every night. Claude? I wanted to see someone go out and kick his ass multiple times every night.

And Foresburg just went to the Preds. I didn't want him, but I definitely didn't want Nashville getting him either.

Yeah, that sucks. Sounds like they gave up a lot though, and he is a FA anyway (so they risk losing him this summer).

Hopefully some team knocks them off in the early rounds and it won't matter.

Analysis from today's Freep:

PHOENIX -- Cross Peter Forsberg off that wish list for the Red Wings.
Wanting an opportunity to play for a Stanley Cup, and with no possibility of that happening in Philadelphia, Forsberg waived the no-trade clause in his contract and promptly was dealt Thursday to the Nashville Predators.
Forsberg, 33, was traded for forward Scottie Upshall, defenseman Ryan Parent (Nashville's first-round pick in 2005) and the Predators' first- and third-round picks this summer.
Nashville has the best record in the NHL and is seeded No. 1 in the West. The Predators still play the Wings five times, in what likely will decide the top spot in the conference and Central Division.
"We made a pitch," general manager Ken Holland said, "but they (the Flyers) got themselves an offer they liked. Nashville got itself a very talented player."
The Wings were interested in Forsberg but weren't interested in trading so much of their future.
"Nashville essentially traded away three first-round picks," Holland said.
Who do the Wings target now?
St. Louis forward Bill Guerin probably is the next hottest name on the free-agent market, but with 26 goals and plenty of teams after him, the asking price could be high.
Florida forwards Todd Bertuzzi (out after surgery on his back), Gary Roberts and Jozef Stumpel, Anson Carter of Columbus, Keith Tkachuk of St. Louis and Bryan Smolinski of Chicago are possible options before the Feb. 27 trade deadline.

Also, I read some quotes from Flyers' players saying he might still sign back there in the offseason. That would really hose Nashville if they traded 3 picks, didn't win the cup, and he left. or if he simply is too injured to help.

That'd be the way to go if a player was committed to the team, haha. If you know you're not going anywhere that season, trade him for a ton of assets, then let him resign with you 3-4 months later.

Rumors from the radio is that the Wings just traded for Bertuzzi.

If true, I have very mixed feelings about this....
