Glenn 02-01-2007, 04:11 PM Musselman suspended by NBA for DUI arrest
ESPN.com news services
Sacramento Kings coach Eric Musselman has been suspended without pay for two games for driving under the influence, in violation of California state law, the NBA announced Thursday.
Musselman will miss the Kings' upcoming games against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Monday, the league said.
Musselman pleaded no contest in Sacramento last Thursday to driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested in October after his team won its preseason home opener.
Musselman must pay $580 in fines and penalties, Lana Wyant, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, said Friday. The coach was ordered to spend 48 hours on a work project and participate in a first-offender program. He will serve three years on informal probation after he completes the program.
Musselman entered the plea in Sacramento County Superior Court. A no-contest plea has the same effect as a guilty plea in criminal court for sentencing purposes, but it cannot be used against a defendant if there is a lawsuit.
Musselman was pulled over Oct. 21 after he cut off another motorist, jail records say. He registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.11 percent, above the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to the arrest report.
The arrest marked the start of a difficult year for Musselman. The Kings are last in the NBA's Pacific Division, with a 18-26 record midway through the season.

Jamison out 3-6 weeks with knee injury

Hill to miss two to three weeks

Magic shooting guard Grant Hill stunned teammates and coaches, revealing an injury Thursday that later turned out to be serious enough to knock him out of the lineup.
Hill will be out two to three weeks with a Grade 1 sprain of the medial collateral ligament of the right knee.
He sustained it in Wednesday night's victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, but apparently did not inform the team or didn't believe it was serious at the time. But when he came to practice Thursday, Hill told the club his knee hurt and an MRI confirmed the sprain.
Hill, the Magic's second-leading scorer, has missed seven games this season.
Glenn 02-02-2007, 11:03 AM Another superstar trade demand...
singleton wants trade
Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said it is unlikely the Clippers would make a trade before the Feb.22 deadline. But one player - not named Corey Maggette - wants out. Maggette requested a trade more than a month ago, through his agent. The Clippers explored options but none surfaced that interested them. Now second-year forward James Singleton wants to change teams.
Singleton was the first player out of the locker room after Wednesday's victory over Chicago.
"I don't want to sound like I'm whining," Singleton said. "I just want to play, and I don't think it'll be here. I'm never getting the opportunity, and so I told my agent to call them and ask them to trade me."
Singleton has appeared in 28 games and is averaging 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in eight minutes. He averaged 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds as a rookie last year in 59 games.
defrocked 02-02-2007, 02:48 PM Not to hijack the thread, but I wasn't sure this warranted its own thread, since it amounts to nostalgic bitching (from a 23-year-old).
I'm sick of guys demanding trades. I'm usually the last guy to stick up for big business (in this case, NBA teams) on company-employee conflicts, but what ever happened to honoring the contracts you signed? Maybe it's just because I didn't follow basketball as closely "back in the day", but I don't remember anyone demanding to be traded. Now you have scrubs like this guy. And they always preface their whining with "I don't want to sound like I'm whining." Then shut up and play for the team you signed a contract with for as long as you signed it to play with them. They won't play you? Then get better and learn from your mistake to sign with them.
And this gets me off on another tangent of buying guys out. I think this is a lot of crap too. Yes it got us C-Webb, but I don't like the idea of buying a guy out and he can sign with whoever he wants. To me, it kills the ideals of parity, since these guys are holding out to go to playoff teams, so the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. This is the same principle as the players signing the contract. If the team signed a bad contract with a guy, they should have to suffer through it.
I imagine I sound like an out-of-date fan, and that's fine, but I want to see loyalty and sportsmanship come back into the business end of the NBA. Wasn't it Zo who demanded to the Nets to be traded, so he was dealt to Toronto, then refused to play there? What the hell is that shit? They had to buy him out so he could then choose what team he want to whore himself out to for a ring. That was the worst case scenario to me. Players are being bitches to get out of their contracts, or to be traded, so they can pick what team they're going to play for.
OK, rant over. I feel better now.
Uncle Mxy 02-02-2007, 03:26 PM Wilt and Kareem both forced their trades to the Lakers. It's been going on for a long time.

Anthony, Smith miss shootaround after auto accident
By PAT GRAHAM, AP Sports Writer
February 2, 2007
DENVER (AP) -- Denver Nuggets players Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith were involved in a fender bender on their way to the team shootaround Friday morning, coach George Karl said.
Neither player was injured and both will play against Portland on Friday night, Karl said.
They missed the shootaround so they could take care of paperwork following the mishap.
Team spokesman Eric Sebastian said Smith was driving one of Anthony's cars but didn't have any other details.
The accident came a day after Anthony, the league's leading scorer, was snubbed from the Western Conference All-Star squad.
Don't nuthin'... --Glenn
With Houston's Yao Ming and Utah's Carlos Boozer both injured, Anthony could still be selected by commissioner David Stern. The commissioner suspended Anthony for 15 games earlier this season for his role in a brawl with the New York Knicks, and the Western Conference coaches who pick the reserves snubbed him.
"I think there's a lot of hope," Karl said. "I think Melo was one of the top five players in basketball before the suspension. Visually, it's hard to remember when you're seeing other guys play for 37 or 38 days. I think it's basically psychological -- what you're familiar with is what you probably vote on. I hope the commissioner can professionally evaluate and select who I would select, and that would be Melo."
Allen Iverson, who was named to his eighth straight All-Star game, also missed the shootaround. He was traveling back to Denver from a family funeral, and will be a game-time decision because of a sprained ankle that kept him out of the Nuggets' loss at Portland on Wednesday night.
Glenn 02-02-2007, 04:37 PM LeBron to Miss Friday Matchup Against 76ers
LeBron James underwent an MRI yesterday at The Cleveland Clinic for a sprained right big toe. Results of the MRI were negative. He was re-examined this morning in Philadelphia by the team’s medical staff. A decision was made, in consultation with Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry and Head Coach Mike Brown that, as a pre-cautionary measure, he would not play tonight in Philadelphia against the Sixers. He is now listed as Out for tonight and day to day moving forward.
Maybe we can luck out and have him sit out Sunday too?

Gilbert Arenas has scored 97 points in two games against the Lakers this season, including 37 on Saturday. Arenas' average of 48.5 points per game against the Lakers this season is the highest by one player against one team in a season since Karl Malone averaged 50.5 points in two games against Milwaukee in 1989-90 (minimum: two games played).

Glenn 02-05-2007, 05:01 PM Payton suspended for arguing with ref after ejection
Associated Press
MIAMI -- Heat guard Gary Payton was suspended one game without pay Monday for talking back to an official who ejected him during a win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
Payton will serve the suspension Monday night when Miami hosts the Charlotte Bobcats.
The incident occurred late in the second quarter on Saturday, when Payton, starting in place of the injured Jason Williams, was ejected by official Mark Davis for arguing a call. Before leaving the floor, Payton leaned in close and said something to Davis. The Heat won the game 117-98.
The 16-year veteran is averaging 5.6 points and 2.9 assists this season, both career lows.

Thomas only dunking for dough
By K.C. Johnson
Tribune staff reporter
February 6, 2007
SALT LAKE CITY -- Perhaps Tyrus Thomas will display more energy and enthusiasm during the slam-dunk contest than he did Monday in discussing his participation.
Asked if he were excited about becoming the first Bull since Scottie Pippen in 1990 to participate in the event as part of All-Star weekend, Thomas barely looked up from untying his shoes.
"Not really," Thomas said. "I'm just going to go out there, get my check and call it a day."
Asked if an opportunity to rub elbows with some of the game's greats could be beneficial for a rookie, Thomas kept unlacing.
"I'm just into the free money," he said. "That's it. I'll just do whatever when I get out there."
Thomas makes $3.26 million.
The winner gets $35,000. The runner-up receives $22,500. Third and fourth place are worth $16,125.
Thomas' competition is Orlando's Dwight Howard, Boston's Gerald Green and defending champion Nate Robinson of the Knicks.
Michael Jordan will serve as a judge along with heavyweights Dominique Wilkins, Julius Erving, Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter. This slightly stirred Thomas.
"I might have to break out some tapes of old contests," he said. "But I'm just taking it for what it's worth."
Jordan is the event's only back-to-back winner, and his winning dunk from the foul line at the Chicago Stadium in 1988 still resonates with Bulls fans.
Boy, it's hard not to be a Tyrus Thomas fan.
I'll be pulling for him to get that much-needed extra $18,875.

They fined him $10,000 for making those comments about "just wanting the free money" in the dunk contest. So now it's going to be the hot topic on talk radio and all over the web AGAIN today.
What's in it for the Bulls to make their own young player look bad?
A better solution? Talk to the kid and make him announce that whatever he wins is going charity. The kid (and the team) would get positive headlines instead of what they are going to get now.

Pacers involved in nightclub scuffle
Indianapolis - Metro police are investigating a bar fight involving two members of the Indiana Pacers at a west side nightclub.
According to police reports, Jamaal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels allegedly punched a manager of the Eight Second Saloon early Tuesday morning. Police say Pacers guard Keith McLeod was inside the Tremors nightclub but was not involved.
Police say the fight started between a manager and an individual suspected of stealing coats from a coat check area. According to police reports, Tinsley and Daniels punched the manager and Daniels threatened to kill him.
"It first started I think with the threat that 'I will kill you' and then it turned into a punch being thrown, striking the manager in the face. There was another punch allegedly thrown by Marquis Daniels to the manager, hitting him in the ear, I believe. So at least we know the manager was struck a couple of different times," said an officer at the press conference Wednesday.
The bar manager appears to have suffered a broken jaw and a severed ear lobe, according to police reports. Police say Tinsley may have suffered a cut to the forehead (revealing no brain inside). A cousin of Pacers guard Keith McLeod lost a tooth.
Six off-duty police officers were working in security in the parking lot at the time of the fight. By the time they got inside the bar, Tinsley and Daniels were gone.
No charges have been filed and no players were arrested. Detectives are working the case.
Indiana Pacers CEO and President Donnie Walsh issued the following statement: "We are aware of reports of an incident Monday night after the Golden State game allegedly involving members of the Indiana Pacers. At this time, the incident is under police investigation and until the investigation is completed, we have no further comment."

Black Dynamite 02-10-2007, 10:15 PM Wizards centers Thomas, Haywood fight again
ESPN.com news services
WASHINGTON -- No, they can't just get along.
Washington Wizards teammates Etan Thomas and Brendan Haywood fought in practice on Friday, according to Washington media reports, and Thomas was suspended for two games.
It's the third time over the past two seasons that the two centers, who have split playing time at the pivot for the Wizards, have traded punches. They fought in the locker room on Nov. 2, and Haywood was suspended for throwing a punch at Thomas last season.
The team announced the suspension on Friday night, saying only that Thomas had been suspended for conduct detremental(espn can't spell?) to the team, and that it was a team matter that would be handled internally.
The two centers were jostling for position at one end of the court when Haywood elbowed Thomas, the Washington Post reported, citing a source with knowledge of the incident. When play continued at the other end of the floor, Thomas, who thought the elbow was intentional, shouted at Hawyood and threw a punch. The two then traded blows until their teammates broke up the scuffle.
Haywood was not available for comment, the Post reported.
But Thomas, who recently returned to the team after missing 13 games with an ankle injury, confirmed to the Post and The Washington Times that the fight happened and offered his own version of events.
"I am trying to find my rhythm after missing a month with this ankle injury, trying to put together some decent games, feeling good to be a part of everything that the team is accomplishing, and this cat decides to hit me with a cheap shot during practice and I reacted. I could have turned the other cheek. I guess I didn't," Thomas told the Post.
"Why on earth would he throw an elbow at his own teammate? Save that for Tyson Chandler or Eddy Curry. Kwame Brown would be more than happy to trade blows in cake throwing contest with him," Thomas told the Times. "I know the difference between an accident and a cheap shot you dirty bastard."
After Saturday's practice, coach Eddie Jordan was asked if the latest scuffle is a distraction to the team.
"For the moment, yes. But after everything is said and done and everything is taken care of, no," Jordan said. "We had a morning meeting, watched film, moved on to practice and we had a very good practice today. We addressed various things at the meeting."
Thomas said Haywood was not happy because he played only 21 minutes in the Wizards' 110-83 loss Wednesday to the San Antonio Spurs.
"San Antonio just beat us by what seemed like a hundred but I guess all that matters to him is he didn't get the minutes he thinks he deserves, so he's mad, which results in a displacement of anger," Thomas told the Post. "What does he think, that throwing a cheap shot at me is going to keep him on the floor? Bottom line, I'm not putting up with any garbage from Brendan Todd Haywood, but at the same time, I do feel bad and upset with myself for allowing him to bait me."
Despite the hard feelings and three fights in two years, Thomas said he hoped he and Haywood could put the incident behind them and finish their late popcorn movie session of brokeback mountain..
"Hopefully he's gotten the message and we can continue this season peacefully," Thomas told the Post. "We can be competitive without being enemies, it just doesn't have to be like this."
Uncle Mxy 02-11-2007, 08:05 AM Etan Thomas sure has woman problems... geez...

SALT LAKE CITY - Eddy Curry wears his emotions on his sleeve - and his hands, neck, chest and back.
The Knicks' center is covered with tattoos, and the latest piece of artwork is in response to being omitted from the All-Star team: "Bruised Never Broken" is written across his chest.
"The NBA is killing me but they can't break me," Curry said of the tattoo he got on Monday.
Curry scored 27 points last night - the ninth time in his last 11 games he's topped 20 points - on 9-of-15 shooting (plus 9-of-11 from the foul line), though he also committed eight of the Knicks' 22 turnovers. He's in the midst of his best season and is upset over not making the All-Star team. His teammate, Stephon Marbury, hinted that the NBA alters the coaches' vote in order to select the seven reserves the league wants. When Curry is in uniform, the word "Never" is visible in the middle of his chest.
"Yeah," he said, "I'll always remember this year."
And, on a better note -- yay for AD!

Police find Foye in fight outside bar
Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Randy Foye was cited early Monday for disorderly conduct after police found him in a fight outside a Minneapolis gas station.
Foye and two others were released after receiving citations, Lt. Amelia Huffman said. A fourth person, Pierre D. Mitchell, was booked into Hennepin County jail for obstructing the legal process after he kicked at officers while refusing to be seated in a squad car.
According to the police report: Officers responded about 2:40 a.m. to a witness report of a scuffle outside the gas station about 2 miles south of Target Center. They found four people in a fight next to a parked sports utility vehicle while the store was closed.
It was unclear what caused the fight, police said, but Foye and the three others were apparently acquaintances who had been traveling together in the vehicle.
Foye, a point guard taken seventh in last summer's draft out of Villanova, started his second game of the season on Sunday against Boston and is averaging nine points and 21 minutes. He was chosen to play in the NBA's rookie game as part of this weekend's All-Star festivities in Las Vegas.

Black Dynamite 02-14-2007, 12:00 PM houston wins the title, lead them to victory. almost assures us that they arent trading for dale davis or anyone else from us.
Glenn 02-14-2007, 12:03 PM Well, I've been waiting for them to get another big (we discussed that about a month ago) but Big Jake is not really the missing piece.
Once Yao gets back, if he can stay healthy, they should be alright with Deke as #2 C.
Deke might snag himself a MLE contract for next year if he's not careful.

Uncle Mxy 02-14-2007, 03:01 PM Bickerstaff asks Sean May to grow a pair.
http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/basketball/nba/charlotte_bobcats/16693457.htm
Bernie Bickerstaff to Sean May: Learn to live with it.
May, a second-year power forward, will miss his 10th straight game tonight because of a bone bruise on his right knee. By not playing tonight, May gets six extra days of rest because of the All-Star break.
But sooner or later, the Bobcats coach says, May has to accept playing in pain.
"Most guys in this league have some kind of pain," Bickerstaff said. "Guys have to play through it."
Bickerstaff compared May's situation to that of teammate Raymond Felton, who has an ankle that throbs all the time.
"It's a mental toughness thing," Bickerstaff said.
May said the cartilage that's been removed from his right knee makes him more susceptible to bone bruises. He understands that pain comes with this job, but he also illustrated just how injured he was, after trying to practice Monday.
"I couldn't walk up my steps," May said, "because my knee was so stiff."

b-diddy 02-20-2007, 09:28 PM gotta love a gm calling out a player.
i had a bad bone bruise on my ankle the summer before last (drunk+fence hopping+sandals+concrete=ouch) and i wasnt playing basketball for a while afterthat. if i was may i'd be the living hell out of bickerstaff.
Glenn 02-21-2007, 10:35 AM A few betting lines on trade liklihood:
Will Vince Carter (NJN) get traded before the NBA trade Deadline?
Yes -130
No -110
Kidd
Yes -180
No +140
Maggette
Yes -125
No -115
Gasol
Yes +115
No -155
Posey
Yes -230
No +160
Bibby
Yes -105
No -135
Ridnour
Yes -135
No -105
Rashard Lewis

So based on these lines, from this group, Posey is the most likely to be traded, followed by Kidd, then Ridnour and so on...
THIS FUCKER BETTER HAVE DISLOCATED HIS DAMN SHOULDER. MOTHER FUCKER IS GETTING WHEELCHAIRED OFF THE FUCKING COURT AFTER ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENED TO HIS ASS.
Honestly, I've seen about 6 Heat games all year and I can think of 1 where this bitch didn't go back to the locker room in the middle of the game.
MoTown 02-21-2007, 11:22 PM Fool - it's like you took the words from my brain and wrote it before I got here.
What a pussy ass motherfucker. That's the face of our modern day NBA. PUSSIFIED.
Zekyl 02-21-2007, 11:50 PM Dammit, I just saw the clip on ESPN and came to call him out, apparently everyone's on the same page. He looked like he was crying. It wouldn't surprise me at all.
MikeMyers 02-21-2007, 11:53 PM LMAO. Pat Riley is going to extend his leave of absence until September.
Zekyl 02-22-2007, 12:05 AM After seeing another reply, I'd like to extend an apology to DWade.
Dear Mr. Wade:
You are not a bitch like I formerly said and I am sorry for demeaning you in such a manor. I have come to see the light of your greatness and the horrific circumstances of your injury and using such a crued word to describe you was completely inappropriate. Again, my sincerest apologies.
You are a HUGE bitch.
Sincerely,
Z
b-diddy 02-22-2007, 01:05 AM dislocated shoulder, out for weeks atleast. i really wanted to see them miss the playoffs. what a joke of a team. too bad they will be remembered as the great champions riddled by injuries the following year rather than what they are: a bad team that couldnt care less and one great player who is trying to injure himself out there.
Cross 02-22-2007, 04:24 AM LMAO. Pat Riley is going to extend his leave of absence until September.
Maybe he's coming back in the playoffs when dwade will take 30 free throws a game.
Glenn 02-22-2007, 09:13 AM If the Suns really offered Kurt Thomas, Raja Bell and the Hawks pick from the Joe Johnson deal (top 3 protected this year) for JKidd, I think the Nets should take that deal.
Kidd and Nash on the same team?
Black Dynamite 02-22-2007, 09:22 AM Kidd and Nash on the same team?
no reprieve from pg high paced offense for 48 minutes. ouch.
Zekyl 02-22-2007, 09:29 AM Just think of having them both on the court at the same time! Whichever one grabs the ball just starts running with it, giving them even more of a headstart. Both of them are solid 3-point shooters too. It would be sick.

You're right it would be sick.
Billups would do like he always does and abuse Nash
and Rip would be taking shooting practice against Jason Kidd.
WTFchris 02-22-2007, 11:26 AM If the Suns really offered Kurt Thomas, Raja Bell and the Hawks pick from the Joe Johnson deal (top 3 protected this year) for JKidd, I think the Nets should take that deal.
Kidd and Nash on the same team?
I actually think that would work quite well. Yes, they are primary ball handlers, but both work well without the ball as well (cutting, etc). It would be like the globtrotters out there.
Glenn 02-22-2007, 11:26 AM I wasn't criticizing it Chris, I was in awe of it.
WTFchris 02-22-2007, 11:30 AM They'd be my new favorite team (outside detroit) for sure. Nash is a solid spot up 3 point shooter too, so he'd be pretty good without the ball too. Add in Diaw and Barbosa and you've got a lot of great ball handlers.
Glenn 02-22-2007, 03:20 PM Worst trade deadline that I can remember (not just from a Pistons perspective).
Two trades?
Hopefully some more stuff trickles in, I seem to recall stuff being announced as late as 5:30 before.
I think Stern can give teams a few hours of an extension if they are close to a deal at the deadline.
WTFchris 02-22-2007, 03:26 PM They also don't have to be reported by 3 pm. Just signed, and maybe there is some leeway on that too. But still, this is a snoozer.
Glenn 02-22-2007, 03:39 PM I guess we can be happy that Bibby didn't go to Cleveland.
b-diddy 02-22-2007, 05:13 PM blockbusters at the deadline dont really happen under this and the previous cba.
im actually a big fan of the new cba, i just miss the days when you could debate what team made out better from a trade and only talk about the immidiate future. talent for talent no longer happens. stern should fix this. get rid of the tax and let the good times roll.
Uncle Mxy 02-22-2007, 07:01 PM Just think of having them both on the court at the same time! Whichever one grabs the ball just starts running with it, giving them even more of a headstart. Both of them are solid 3-point shooters too. It would be sick.
Kidd and Nash -were- on the same team for a couple years, the Phoenix Suns in 1997-8
b-diddy 02-22-2007, 11:15 PM if memory serves, the pistons almost picked up nash when he was only considered a real good backup way back when. before he left phoenix. how's that for a 'i wonder what would have happened if...'? nash and prime hill would have looked pretty good together, i'd think.
WTFchris 02-23-2007, 09:49 AM Kidd and Nash -were- on the same team for a couple years, the Phoenix Suns in 1997-8
Yeah, but Nash was a rookie that only started 2 games and Kidd was traded there half way thru the season. Certainly wouldn't be the same as today when Nash has elevated his game so much.
Glenn 02-25-2007, 09:27 PM I'll never make fun of big Z again. I say this as a father of twins and as someone who has also lost babies.
Ilgauskas back with Cavs after family tragedy
Associated Press
Posted: 1 hour ago
MIAMI (AP) - Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas returned to the Cavaliers' starting lineup in Miami on Sunday for the first time since his wife went into early labor and lost twin babies.
Ilgauskas missed four games, a stretch that began before the All-Star break.
His wife, Jennifer, began having problems after Cleveland played the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 11. She was about five months' pregnant at the time, and delivered a stillborn boy and girl on Feb. 14, Ilgauskas said.
"Neither one of them survived, so obviously, I just had to take some time for myself to take care of things," Ilgauskas said softly before the Cavaliers lost 86-81 to Miami on Sunday.
He added that losing the babies was the toughest thing he's ever experienced.
"It puts life in perspective," he said.
Ilgauskas stayed with his wife, grieving privately, for several days before resuming personal workouts last Wednesday and practicing again with the Cavaliers on Saturday.
The trip to Miami was the first time he'd traveled with the team since the tragedy.
"He looked good in practice," Cleveland coach Mike Brown said of Ilgauskas, who entered Sunday averaging 11.7 points and 8.2 rebounds, and finished with eight points and nine rebounds in 28 minutes against the Heat.
Ilgauskas said he was looking forward to getting back to basketball, if for no other reason than to have his mind occupied by something else for a few hours.
"The team needs me and I need these guys," he said. "We don't have many games left before the playoffs start, so it was important for me to be here. ... It felt like the right time. The more time you miss, the harder it is to come back."
He wasn't the only player Cleveland got back on Sunday.
Guard Damon Jones was active; he's been battling strep throat and had three points on 1-for-6 shooting. But forward Sasha Pavlovic (flu) was not with the team, and Brown said he wasn't sure when he'd rejoin the Cavaliers.
"It's a day-to-day thing," Brown said.
That is extremely sad, my heart goes out to the guy. When I was in high school one of my teachers lost his triplets because his wife went into labor early. Every time I hear about a baby dying I think of him and how terrible that must be, and can't imagine his grief to lose multiple children. I am not saying losing one is easier, I just think the pain is magnified exponentially when more than one kid dies.

That looked worse than Wade's dislocation, yet Wade was the one balling his eyes out.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUCH.
Glenn 02-27-2007, 03:32 PM Not surprisingly, there are reports that Livingston is done for the season.
Glenn 02-27-2007, 03:39 PM According to ESPN News, Jamal Crawford is also done for the season (needs ankle surgery).

An 8 point second qtr. is mighty impressive.
b-diddy 02-27-2007, 09:22 PM one could do pretty well betting on the suns, mavs, raptors, and 2nd half pistons. if one were so inclined.

Willis McGahee in the national championship? That was a horrendous hit on his knee.
b-diddy 02-27-2007, 09:34 PM yea, i had the same reaction to that one (screaming like a girl), but livingston's knee moved like the second hand on a clock.

Like Zekyl said, McGahee was nasty. Lets not forget Theisman, and Napoleon McCallum of the Raiders. That one is less known so here it is:

We can just make this into the 'nasty injury thread', Brian Butch could be included as well with his elbow injury vs OSU this last weekend.
b-diddy 02-27-2007, 11:35 PM xdKd6xYskHU
not that bad, but thats gotta be pretty scary to rip your helmet off and see a mass of blood fly out.
which sport would you expect the worst injuries (no nascar)? basketball is a contact sport that puts guys in rediculous defenseless positions often, football is a collision sport, and hockey puts guys on meddle blades on ice with clubs.
b-diddy 02-27-2007, 11:41 PM actually, i think i may have just answered my own question:

honestly thats fucking sad. this team needs to start over by getting rid of KG, Marko Jaric, and Troy Hudson
btw bdiddy, do you know what happened to that goalie?
micknugget 02-28-2007, 10:34 AM The goalie was Clint Malarchuk. It was a serious and potentially fatal injury but he survived and went on to goaltend for a few more years. He did however become one of the first goalies to wear a neck protector after that.
WTFchris 02-28-2007, 11:05 AM I can't imagine the beating goalies took before wearing masks. Who wants to take a 100 MPH slap shot to the face? Not me.
WTFchris 02-28-2007, 11:54 AM I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I have Dish Network and I just noticed something funny on their page for FSD:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/whats_on_dish/programming_packages/channels/index.asp?NetwID=50348
Description: FOX Sports Detroit direct from the Motor City, FOXDT's extensive coverage of professional and collegiate teams cannot be surpassed. With coverage of the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings, to Grant Hill and the Pistons, to those frisky Tigers of the MLB, as well as collegiate baseball and basketball coverage, the Motor City's finest play here. FOXDT offers sports fans a colossal amount of programming including coverage of professional wrestling, auto racing, boxing and harness racing.
Zekyl 02-28-2007, 12:11 PM I don't know if they got the memo, but we don't even have anyone left from the TRADE of Grant Hill, let alone Hill himself.
RegicideGreg 02-28-2007, 12:27 PM I'm guessing that's from like 1998
WTFchris 02-28-2007, 12:48 PM I would call them and let them know, but most of those people have never even seen an NBA game that work there.
...to Grant Hill and the Pistons.
Maybe they meant full NBA coverage? Probably not, but worth a shot.
