View Full Version : MSU: 20 Win Season?!!

Michigan State is 17-4. That is unbelievable in my eyes given what they lost, the injuries they've had, and the lack of depth they have to deal with. 2 of those 4 losses were 2 pt losses too! The fact that this team has this record is astonishing to me and Izzo has even admitted it.

Tim Stout posed the question on the radio two days ago. "How many programs reach 20 wins during a bad/down year?"

Honestly, you can probably count on one hand, maaaaaaaaybe two the number of programs that hit 20 wins when they are having what is believed to be a "down" year. Just another example of the Elite level MSU has reached.

Will they get their 20 wins? I don't know, it will be real tough with many difficult remaining games. But, I like their chances. Everybody seems to be singing their praises this week. One radio show said "Drew Neitzel's emergence as a lethal scorer and leader is one of the best stories in college basketball this year." Another national show said, "Tom Izzo is proving that there is not a better coach in the country." Douche Huge said this might be Izzo's best coaching job ever.

I'm loving it! GO STATE!

No prob, but if you're gonna bust my balls, be accurate. Never trashed UM in any thread tonight. Said that I knew Amaker wasn't much of a coach. Not exactly bashing UM.

Seriously though, if a single MSU thread is started, a Michigan fan here is guaranteed to jump in within 15 seconds and make some joke or question the thread. Does it really bother you that much? I guess I should have asked for Spartan opinions only. LOL

Just bustin ya back

Not too tough when Tommy drops the big boys that he couldn't beat and schedules a bunch of (basically) 1-AA clowns. I see 1 quality win so far (Texas).

And no, we don't need another MSU circle jerk thread. [smilie=master_emot: There is an MSU basketball thread right? UGH. Some people never learn. [smilie=banghead.gi:

Dude, are you really posting this shit AGAIN? How many times have you jumped into an MSU thread and questioned it? You post this same garbage in every single MSU thread. You are right, some people don't learn!!!!! YOU DON"T LEARN! How many times have UM and MSU fans told you that if you don't like it, don't read it. Where the hell is WTFChris? Because this is the garbage I was talking about. Moodini jumps into every single MSU thread and questions it being there, but gets pissed off when a 2008 football thread is questioned.

Moodini, I think I underestimated your hatred for MSU. I'm able to pop into a "Wolverines returning" thread and post my opinion, or a "Michigan best D ever" thread and give my two cents. You can't even handle a MSU thread. They have success, you have to hear about it, and you just can't handle it. I think it just drives you crazy when MSU is getting props or is being talked about. You either vanish or can't fight the urge to take a shot/question the topic.

As far as "dropping teams he couldn't beat" goes, MSU is top 3 in the nation in wins over Top 10 opponents during the Izzo era. Even in a disappointing year last year, he recorded 4 wins over Top 10 opponents. Bet ya wish Carr could claim that.

Michigan could win 20 for the third time in 4 years and they're a joke, but State might win 20 and it's just another example of their elite status?

I'm not the only one saying it, the rest of the media is as well. I heard them giving MSU praise on three different talk shows this week.

It's an example of their Elite status because they were supposed to be horrible. This was the one year they weren't supposed to reach 20 and they weren't supposed to make the tourney. Michigan has been led by juniors and seniors the last 2 years and haven't made the tourney. That's the difference.

Well, the Spartans may have only 1 win over a ranked opponent this year, but I don't think any of the maize haters here before will be questioning the Spartans after last night.

Sure it was still a loss, however...the Spartans were a bucket away from beating #5 Ohio State ON THE ROAD. I'm not into feeling good about being close, but what this game showed us is that MSU can hang with anyone this year. And they are doing this with far less talent than opponents like OSU.

Thad has a team full of All Americans and Izzo is a bucket away from beating them on the road with not a single All American on the roster. For those of you that were doubting the fact that MSU will be crazy good next year with the freshman coming in, what do you think now?

The Badgers' 7-0 start to Big Ten play is their best since they went 12-0 in 1914.

Basketball was being PLAYED in 1914????????

I found 1924... ack! Dope shoes, though...

This is more like it...

Syracuse AVERAGED 27ppg that year... as a team.

Couldn't find Michigan or MSU. Michigan did not compete in the Big 10 from 1910 to 1917. But here's their 1882 baseball team...

Scout.com:

"In the process, the Spartans locked up a bid to the NCAA tournament for the 10th straight season and secured their reputation as one of the nation's elite programs."
