that was SWEEEEET!!

the music cue at the beginning timed with Max's block was perfect, and the ending was awesome. good stuff, drsimp.

Mad Max. Dunk Hard. Dunk Often.

Yeah, it was put together very well. I like that you weren't afraid to raise and lower the music to get good sound bytes in there. Maxiell had a sweet dunk this weekend (can't remember if it was against the Wolves or the Kings) set up by Chauncey that is probably my current favorite but that turn he made against Indiana was nice for sure.

P.S. Here's a link (http://www.lardlad.com/assets/404.gif) to a vid showcasing Maxiell's passing highlights.

Nice vid. Hopefully Max can learn how to keep more of his blocks in bounds. They look impressive flying into the stands but it doesn't give your team a chance to recover them.

Its like after you watch a Rocky movie, or some MMA, youre thinking 'hey I can do that too' even though youre completely wrong and you know it. It still gives you that manly feeling of being the most dominant human being in the universe capable of anything, even if just for those few minutes.

That's an elevation thing -- you have to get high enough to swat down rather than out. Maxiell should work out with some volleyball players in the offseason.

i'd rather Maxiell work on his ball handling and post moves. i think he's plenty athletic right now, since he shed some pounds in the off-season (remember?). as of now, his only post move is to shoot right over guys. he's got enough hops to do that, so i'd love to see him work on his post game.

that said, volleyball players have sick vertical leaps. Mad Max getting up even higher would be crazy. he'd be blocking shots into the 200-level seats at the Palace.

I hate to say this, but he needs to learn to rely less on dunking. He tries to dunk everything, when a lot of times if he layed it up he'd get the foul AND THE BASKET instead of just the foul. I love to see the dunks as much as anyone, but sometimes its good to get the 2 points guaranteed and go to the line.

It could also be said that if he didn't try to dunk it, he wouldn't draw the foul anyways. I think it's kind of a wash in that regard, and the last thing I want to see him lose is his aggressiveness.

I agree about the whole "tries to dunk it from everywhere" thing.

It's very Darvin Hamesque.

Not sure if it is strategically sound, but the fans sure dig it, though.

i'd really like him to catch the ball in the post, pivot to face his man, and work on some convincing pump fakes before he drives to the basket.

or at least fake left once and drive hard to the right.

his post game is extremely predictable right now. it's effective because he's so new that people probably aren't use to guarding him.

i'll go out on a limb and say that if his post game can mature, he can be a starter for this team down the road, when our bigs are ready to retire. he's strong as an ox, super aggressive, has a nice midrange touch, and i do think he can become a decent FT shooter. considering he's already played more games this season than all of last season, this is pretty much his rookie season and i know he's wowed pistons fans (as well as some fans/announcers from other teams).

For sure, Matt, he definitely needs some work on his post moves getting to the basket. He also should try some other post shots, like a jumphook or an up-and-under, then I agree, he could start for this team in a few years.

I'd prefer him to eventually become a great sixth man. He could still log heavy minutes, but this guy would spark this team big time if he became a more developed scorer. Because he sure as hell as the athleticism and has no fear.

So he'd become McDyess? I guess I'm cool with that, as long as he's happy in that role. If he's happy, he's a lot more likely to stay here than try to go somewhere else for a starting spot.

Shopping for babies in other people's carts?

No, he was shopping with a female and trying to look inconspicuous. It worked.... I don't think anybody recognized him but me, and I didn't bother him so he got away.

He was near the goldfish and birds though.
