View Full Version : ESPN Bottomline? H1Man 01-04-2007, 07:09 PM Is it just me or is that an ESPN toolbar on the front page? Matt 01-04-2007, 07:10 PM i'm playing around with it...........do you like it? DrRay11 01-04-2007, 11:25 PM Where is it? Matt 01-04-2007, 11:41 PM i took it down for a bit, but i just put it back up. it's on the forum page ()www.wtfdetroit.com/forums (http://www.wtfdetroit.com/forums)) right under the navigation bar at the top. i'm not sure where to stick the ticker and if it's cool enough to even keep. LMK what you guys think. UxKa 01-04-2007, 11:55 PM Probably cant color it to fit I assume? Just because of that it looks weird to me. Cool you can stick it in though. Matt 01-04-2007, 11:57 PM Probably cant color it to fit I assume? Just because of that it looks weird to me. Cool you can stick it in though. unfortunately not. i'd rather it be on the front page somewhere. it kind of looks like an advertisement, up there. i just wanted to tinker with it to see how it'd look when H1Man spotted it :) UxKa 01-05-2007, 12:21 AM Yeah its decent aside from the advert look. I guess the question would be... does anybody sit on the page long enough to look at it? I know I click around a lot so I doubt I would see it long enough to see relevant info. Not trying to shoot you down or anything, just a thought. Vinny 01-05-2007, 12:25 AM I like it and don't necessarily see any downside to it. You don't have to sit there watching it to see stuff, you can just click on "NBA" and scroll through the NBA scores and news, etc. Matt 01-05-2007, 12:29 AM Yeah its decent aside from the advert look. I guess the question would be... does anybody sit on the page long enough to look at it? I know I click around a lot so I doubt I would see it long enough to see relevant info. Not trying to shoot you down or anything, just a thought. your opinion's definitely welcome :) Matt 01-05-2007, 12:31 AM btw, credit to NQ who showed me the espn bar a while back :D UxKa 01-05-2007, 12:43 AM Thanks Matt. It was just an opinion... it could definitely be a nice addition to the site. Matt 01-05-2007, 01:00 AM i stuck it on the front page (www.wtfdetroit.com (http://www.wtfdetroit.com) ) and i like the way it looks there, better. damn, i just realized it interferes w/ the search box and quick links box. Vinny 01-05-2007, 04:20 AM damn, i just realized it interferes w/ the search box and quick links box. Yeah, it wasn't doing that before? Any way to fix it? Jethro34 01-05-2007, 06:49 AM The ESPN bar is good, but I'm not excited so far about the rest of the current front page look. Too many really old posts and not as much ease of navigation. Just one opinion. Hermy 01-05-2007, 08:13 AM DOn't like it. We ran it for a while at WRH and it often had 6 months outdated info, like if they ran the NBA draft now. Cross 01-05-2007, 08:18 AM looks tight What I would do is have 2 wtfdetroits open, one for my searching around the forum , posting etc and one thats just open to the front page, alt tabbing between refreshing, loading etc. That's what im doing right now although you may miss some part of it. I honestly think its cool one bad thing would be that the HOME, FORUMS and CHAT are all a bit spread apart? Itd be cool if the quick links, etc were all back on that just my 2 cents Glenn 01-05-2007, 08:27 AM Thanks for trying out some new stuff Matt. My thoughts: 1. I'd like the bottom line if it were, in fact, at the bottom. It seems too prominent now. 2. Definitely need to get the "New Posts" link restored. Matt 01-05-2007, 09:28 AM thanks for the input, guys. i'd much rather you guys voice your opinions (for or against) than no one saying anything :) Glenn, i'm seeing the New Posts link. is it missing for you? Glenn 01-05-2007, 09:32 AM http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/8488/newpostsgoneja3.jpg Matt 01-05-2007, 09:37 AM wtf, i checked it out in IE last night and it looked normal. arg... Glenn 01-05-2007, 09:43 AM And wha-la, I am whole again. Thank you Matt. bangpow 01-05-2007, 12:24 PM On a side note. What is up with the front page anyway? Why are the two stories taken down? defrocked 01-05-2007, 02:41 PM I liked the Bottomline, but it does make more sense as a "bottom" line, rather than the focus. I'm not feeling the rest of the front page though. Looks very unorganized. The quotes don't show up right, so it's a bunch of code, and the column on the right is too thin to be of much use. That's my bitchy two cents. Jethro34 01-05-2007, 02:44 PM Looks much better today. My only remaining beef is that the few featured posts on the front show formatting coding and not the finished product. Not sure if there is any way to get around that or not. Cross 01-06-2007, 08:37 AM the front page looks so plain Matt 01-07-2007, 01:05 AM the front page looks so plain patience....good things are on the way :) Glenn 01-08-2007, 12:43 PM Matt's working on some good stuff, as usual. If anyone wants to make some suggestions for what kind of stuff you'd like to see on the front page, now would be a good time. |
