BREAKING NEWS: Yankees, D-backs agree on Johnson trade
The Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks reached a tentative agreement Thursday on a trade that would send Randy Johnson back to Arizona, a move that allows the Big Unit's agents to get him a contract extension.

So i've heard about this trade at least 10 times now but i've yet to hear who he's being traded for. Is it so pathetic that it's not worth mentioning?
Luis Vizcaino and three minor league guys.

Apparently the Yankees have also just signed Doug Meintekwicz (sp?) to a 1 year deal as well.
At least you can't accuse them of contrition.

I'm struggling to come up with the word I was thinking of. It was a word that's essentially synonymous with complacency. I should have just used that.

LOL at the silly rich people who are bad investors, yet somehow still manage to be silly rich people. I envy them so much. I wish I had the money to be like "Let's throw $26 million at this 40+ pitcher coming off two down seasons and back surgery. What do we have to lose?"

By the way, LMAO at the financially challenged D-Backs giving a 43 year old coming off a 5.00 ERA $26 million for the next two years.
I predict he wins 11 games next season. I'm sure they think he'll win his 300th game the following year and it will be worth it, then he'll go into the Hall of Fame wearing a D-Backs hat, the first player to do such a thing, and it will be money well spent.

I think that the DBacks still owed him a ton of deferred $ (even after he was dealt to the Yankees) so maybe he forgave some of that future cash for more upfront $ now?
I am only speculating on that, haven't seen or heard anything that suggests that to be the case.
Its hard enough for most folks to even find a decent job and this washed up old turd gets 26 mil for two years? Sometimes I hate this world.

As retarded as this move is sports wise, it is actually a GOOD business decision. How? Why? Because A. Zona loves Randy. B. He could reach 300 there, which they would LOVE and would be accompanied by sellouts from 290 on easy. C. Because RJ just became the only actually recognizable name on that team(Webb deserves it, but isn't), and will spike Jersey's and other stuff for Zona.
RJ sucks, but is good business.
