Im going Gilbert Arenas.

Gilbert Arenas is making a good case for the all-star game this year

36 pts 9 rebounds 7 assists on 11-26 shooting, 13-14 ft shooting and only 2 turnovers. TONIGHT

The previous game 39 pts, 6 rebounds, 8 assists 10-19 shooting 14-16 ft shooting and an unfortunate 6 turnovers.

2 games ago..31 pts 7 assists 9-13 shooting(holy shit!) and a perfect 10-10 free throw shooting with 3 turnovers

Hes averaging 30.5 pts a game with 6.4 assits a game. Despite his shit 3.7 TOS a game hes carrying the Wizards(With Bulter and Jamison of course) to the best record in the southwestern division.

I hate to say it but i'd go with Kobe. It seems that he has grown up a bit this season and become a better team player. His scoring average might be down but his shooting percentages and apg are both up which are making the Lakers a better team.

Dwight Howard

i dont think anyone has really made too strong of a case yet. atleast from my pov, no one is really screaming mvp yet.

Kobe or Howard. Arenas is close but the Wiz arent making as much of a stir right now. Im sure Nash will be right there again.

I default to Tim Duncan until somene proves otherwise.

My MVP is the refs.

They decide the outcome of the most games and have the greatest effects on all teams.

Or David Stern, for killing defense in the NBA. Little kids who watch AND1 don't like defense it's "boring"

thats what i was thinking mxy, but he's not really having too great of a year, numbers wise, either.

He's playing only 30-32 mpg because he hasn't had to. The Spurs have had tons of blowouts, winning by an average of 10 points or somesuch.

I'd have to say Nash again, simply because no one else is outstanding...

Nash has been outstanding. Look at his #s. Look at his team's record.

Two 40 point games last month? He had 13 and 12 assists in those games.

I don't want Nash winning again, regardless of whether he deserves to or not.

It's hard to pick Nash when he has a couple All Star players on his team. Kobe and Arenas are winning with junk around them (besides Jamison). Still, there is no clear cut favorite at this point.

The favorite was Melo before he ...well he's Un-Melo.

Caron Butler isn't junk either. I'd take Butler over Jamison.

I think Butler is a product of a lack of a balenced team (much like Al Harrington was in Atlanta). He has skills, but I always thought he was overrated. He's a solid player but nothing special IMO.

>15 ppg on three different teams, shooting gets better every year ('cept for an injury year), and neither his D nor his contract sucks.

kobe has odom and a hall of fame coach, arenas has jamison and a very very underrated butler. knocking nash like the suns are booming with allstars at every position is very unfair. if that were the criteria, then billups isnt even an all star with Tayshaun, sheed, and Rip at his disposal.

All the talent in the world means nothing w/o the right set up guy, especially when guys like stoudemire and marion flourish in the fastbreak more so than just taking a game over on isolation plays. Marbury has had more talent than any point guard out there in his career and flopped with it all. lol [smilie=rip.gif]

True, but I expect the third option on a team to put up 15 PPG. Kyle Korver probably scores 15 PPG (with piss poor defense, yes). Butler is having a nice year, but he's also playing 40 MPG. drop that down to the normal 33 MPG range and he's putting up 16.5 PPG. he used to be a bad shooter but now his average is good. he's also rebounding better this year. I wonder how much is simply from having Arenas there drawing double teams or if Butler has truly improved his game that much. I have no idea, haven't seen the Wizards all year. I'm not saying he isn't a decent player because I haven't seen him this year. I just wasn't that impressed with him in the Lakers and Heat days.

I don't understand all the backlash against Nash's MVPs. Yeah, he's not a Jordan-like player but he just does so much out there. In my opinion, he's gotta be one of the hardest players to guard and scheme against in the NBA.

What do you do?:

If you play off him, he buries the three.

If you play up on him, he'll blow right by you.

If you double him, he'll find the open man almost every time.

He makes that whole team go.

I don't necessarily think he was a slam dunk choice either of the last two years, but since he DID win, I don't think he deserves all the bashing. He just plays his game and certainly isn't a terrible MVP choice.

Steve Nash came back from an injury and had those numbers. He's talented and shouldn't be cut down just because he has other good players on his team. If people like Nash, didn't have good people backing them up they probably wouldn't play as strong. Players wouldn't have assists if their team didn't have some potential.

Im still going with Arenas.

He has been a fucking beast and is consistent.

Best of all, he's winning on a shit team.

Arenas' team isn't shit! Caron Butler, Jamison? I think they are two of the more underrated/underappreciated players in the game.

Chuck Nevitt. End of arguement.

who watched the jazz game?

I didn't see it but by watching the highlights, you gotta give to to Arenas.

51 points but the game winner....in your face Booze...god i hate it when the announcer calls him Booze

Arenas is making a strong case, Im starting to agree with you guys on that one. Its looking like he has the best game along with Kobe, and he doesnt need love calls from the refs like some other players.

You could throw LeBron in there too. But yes, Wade is the ultimate love call picker upper since Bron doesnt rely on it and flop to make it happen.
