What should I have for my party? Obviously champagne but I'm not sure about food. Should I just get pizza?

Class it up a bit. See if you can get a Veggie Crudite (fancy talk for veggie tray with dip) and maybe some bruschetta or something. Get too much because it's embarrassing to run out.

Depends on the crowd. If you are talking guy friends, pizza is fine. If it is couples than it's always better to be a little more creative.

Either way, 7 layer dip with tortilla chips are always stellar.

i think we are going with kielbasa from the Polish market at Maple and Dequindre. Good stuff.

I think it depends. If you're just having the boys or close friends over, stick with the champagne and pizza. If it's just a fun night who cares about being classy.

If you're going a little more upscale - go with what Vinny said. Cheese and crackers are always good.

If you want to start getting even more upscale than that - insert the shrimp and that type of thing.

yeah, a tray of shrimp and cocktail sauce is a safe bet. if i'm going to a buddy's house though I'd rather see a stack of pizzas and beer though.

like everyone said above, depends on the crowd and atmosphere you're hoping for.....

......Jason Maxiell recommends chili con queso dip in the crushed skulls of his opponents.

Speaking of which, anyone know where I can find a good queso dip? There used to be a Rio Bravo that had a cook who made a killer queso dip but that place closed down and everywhere I've been since serves it pale-orange-shit-in-a-bowl style.

Thanks for the tips. Thinking shrimp cocktail, veggie tray, and some pizza would be best.

A dessert -- cookies or some handheld sweet thing -- might make sense, too.

If you get pizza, avoid too many items. I've been to lots of events where boxes of pizzas with varying items are ordered. Pepperoni-and-cheese and even plain cheese pizzas get eaten faster than the stuff with more items.

If you think you want to send extra food home with people (and thus have less of a mess to clean up :) ), be sure you have containers.
