Sorry, UM BBall #40 - They haven't made a tourney during this period, not a one. MSU FBall at least made a bowl over that period.

MSU Fball should be rated a little higher IMO, but are about that shitty, UM Bball should drop 20+ spots though, they haven't performed anywhere close to Kent St. for crying out loud.

This just proves that the top 65 teams are not the 65 teams that end up in the tourney. The Worldwide Leader in Sports has just supported my claim.

As for the Pontiac Cup, Pontiac dropped the sponsorship because they saw it as about the same rivalry a hammer and a nail have. When has the nail ever won?

No it mean that this list is retarded.

You should have to make the tourney at least once. And the top 65 teams don't make it, just like any other sport, the 65 most deserving teams make it. But has Michigan been a team that deserved to be in the tourney over the past however long? No. They haven't. And that's why they are overrated on this list. UM needs to sack up, and try to get some coach from the MVC, and then they could actually earn that #40 spot.

This list is an absolute joke. Michigan's basketball program is a disgrace. Say what you want about MSU's football program, but we've at least danced around in the Top 25 at times and played in the postseason.

Michigan's basketball program has done NOTHING for a decade. How the hell can you put a program at #10 when they virtually have only one sport?

JOKE.

BTW, in regards to the pontiac challenge cup, nobody cares. It is decided by a bunch of sports that we don't follow and don't care about. All we care about is football and basketball, admit it.

Let's look at the teams ranked just below Michigan in bball on there:

41 - Clemson
42 - UCLA
43 - Iowa
44 - Vandy
45 - Virginia

year by year (total):

Michigan: 11-2, 22-11, 13-18, 23-11, 17-13 (86-55)
Clemson: 12-0, 19-13, 16-16, 10-18, 15-13 (72-60)
UCLA: 11-0, 32-7, 18-11, 11-17, 10-19 (82-54)
Iowa: 7-6, 25-9, 21-12, 16-13, 17-14 (86-54)
Vandy: 8-4, 17-13, 20-14, 23-10, 11-18 (79-59)
Virginia: 7-3, 15-5, 14-15, 18-13, 16-16 (70-52)

NCAA tournament year by year:
Michigan: none all 5 years
Clemson: none all 5 years
UCLA: final 4, 1st round, none, none , sweet 16
Iowa: 1st round, 1st round, none, none, none
Vandy: none, none, sweet 16, none, none
Virginia: none all 5 years.

Out of Michigan and the 5 teams behind them, I would rank them this way:
UCLA, Iowa, Vandy, Michigan, Clemson, Virginia.

65 best vs 65 most deserving is an argument based on twists, opinions, and meaninglessness. Either way, you end up claiming that some 'necks that knocked off some other 'necks who could barely beat many state champion high school teams earned the right to get waxed in the first round. Hell, let's put the WAC, Mountain West and MAC champions in the BCS because they're freaking deserving. Go drink your own piss and die with an arugment like that.

The trolls have me in a horrible mood, and I'm taking it out on regulars with idiotic arguments.

I don't feel like getting into the 65 best or 40 best or whatever argument is being made.

All I know is that MSU has made more minor slashes nationally in football than UM has in bball (last 5 years). And if you want to take MSU out of the equation, that's fine. Let's just talk UM bball. I'm sorry if this sounds like trash talk, but its not. It's the truth. UM has done NOTHING for a decade but clean up a dirty program. In my opinion, no schools should be on the list unless they at least have a decent 2nd sport whether it be bball or fball. That includes MSU.

While I think that u-m basketball has been subpar for a few years. [smilie=reporter.gi: I am curious if sparty fans realize that the vastly superior spartans have had the same big10 record as the vastly inferior wolverines two of the last 4 years. [smilie=reporter.gi: I suppose matching a mediocre spartan basketball team every other year doesn't count as making slashes at greatness though.

This is a funny list. Oregon is placed at 28th, in a tie with USC. Denny McLain will be shitting a brick.

I agree. My comparison of the #40-45 teams had none of those lowsy auto bid schools. They were all schools from power conferences. So comparing NCAA tournament results is fair IMO. Also notice I said I would only drop Michigan 3 spots on the bball list, which might not drop them at all on the overall spot.
