Games start on 12/19/06
It's based on confidence points.
Glenn 12-19-2006, 10:16 AM So I take it that nobody wants to do this?
unstickied
tail between my legs
MoTown 12-19-2006, 10:18 AM I tried to sign up but then got bored when they wanted me to make an account... too much work.
Glenn 12-19-2006, 11:43 AM I thought that might happen, but I couldn't find a Yahoo contest.
swat
Glenn 12-20-2006, 10:59 AM My quest to dominate this league is off to a roaring start with a big win by TCU at the San Diego Credit Union bowl last night.
1-0 and I had 27 confidence points on that game.
I'll provide periodic updates here to document my dominance at picking college bowl games.
(is it possible to get a threat swatted to an even lower rung forum from The Stands?)
MoTown 12-20-2006, 11:10 AM I'll tell you what Glenn... we'll do this manually since I am doing the same exact thing. So we will have a head to head matchup based entirely off each other's word.
I too am 1-0 after picking TCU. However, I only had 7 confidence points on the game. I will also provide periodic updates.
MoTown 12-20-2006, 11:10 AM Glenn - 27
Mo - 7
Glenn 12-20-2006, 11:16 AM Consider your challenge accepted.
You seem to be a worthy opponent, which isn't saying much because my picks/predictions are generally somewhere in between "horrible" and "laughable".
Also, I don't really "watch" college football at all, except for Michigan games.
If you'd like, we can post our picks for the next few games in advance in this thread. You know, so the throngs of readers can follow along.
Glenn 12-20-2006, 11:20 AM For the games taking place 12/21 through 12/25 I have...
Oregon-13
Rice-3
South Florida-4 (I consider this to be one of my "locks" despite the low confidence, don't sleep on South Florida)
New Mexico-5
Utah- 6
Hawaii-7
Please note that I hope you will not change or alter your picks based on what I have revealed here. I'm banking on your honesty and sense of integrity.
Also please note that I was too lazy to adjust the confidence points from the presets in several instances.
MoTown 12-20-2006, 11:30 AM I like that idea. That way everyone else can be jealous of how cool our dual league is. And I am a worthy opponent - check out my pro football pick-em... firmly planted in 8th place.
My picks for the weekend are:
Oregon - 3
Troy - 2
USF - 1
San Jose - 5
Utah - 4
Hawaii - 10
We really could be doing this over PM, but what would be the fun in that?
MoTown 12-20-2006, 11:32 AM Trust me - I won't be doing any pick switching.
If you'd like I could go over every single pick... and I'll do it one post at a time so I can be considered a post-padder.
Glenn 12-20-2006, 11:33 AM We really could be doing this over PM, but what would be the fun in that?
And we'd miss out on all the glory that will surely follow.
Maybe we should set up a vBookie wager between you and I. People could bet on who they think will win between us.
Well, probably not such a good idea since I have publicly-known a head start now.
Maybe if we set you at 349 to 347 odds and me at 347 to 349 that would even things out a bit.
MoTown 12-20-2006, 11:38 AM Actually that sounds like a great idea. You could keep it 50-50, since technically we're both 1-0... but being that I really suck at any sort of gambling, that should give you better odds.
Make it so.
(And give me back at least 25 alpacas to bet on you)
Glenn 12-21-2006, 10:52 AM No bowl games last night.
The score remains unchanged.
More updates tomorrow.
MoTown 12-21-2006, 10:56 AM HUGE showdown tonight with us both picking Oregon. I guess I should root for the O to lose, considering it would hurt you much more than me.
It'll be a 30 point lead for you tonight if Oregon does come through.
Glenn 12-21-2006, 11:00 AM Solid analysis.
Maybe we should do an Oregon vs. whomever they are playing OGT?
Man, I'm almost tempted to think about watching the game.
MoTown 12-21-2006, 11:53 AM I'm still waiting on the MoTown vs. Glenn vbookie wager.
MoTown 12-22-2006, 09:56 AM Big non win for MoTown last night. The lead stays at 20.
Big time weekend matchup. A chance for me to catch up... unfortunately no way for me to take the lead.
Glenn 12-22-2006, 09:57 AM I see that the worm has turned...
Comrade 12-22-2006, 03:38 PM I'm going with MoTown - like the Hypnotoad gives me any other option.
MoTown 12-23-2006, 08:36 PM You'll be sorry you made that pick, Comrade... soon my bad luck and lack of looking at numbers before each game will come back to embarrass me.
Though I have had a pretty good couple of days so far.
Zip Goshboots 12-23-2006, 08:58 PM I'll bet you five alpacas I'm completely sloshed right now! I LOVE IT!
Glenn 12-26-2006, 08:43 AM *UPDATE*
I'm now a disappointing 4-3 with 44 pts.
Tonight I've got CMU with 18 confidence points.

MoTown 12-28-2006, 09:59 AM ***UPDATE***
Glenn isn't playing by the rules and giving picks before the games.
MoTown gets 10,000 bonus points.
WTFchris 12-28-2006, 12:31 PM I wish I had seen this earlier, I would have joined. I just joined anyway, so I am 0-9 and 64 points behind you Glenn. Let's see if I can catch you.
MoTown 12-28-2006, 12:34 PM I'll allow it. Welcome aboard, Chris.
WTFchris 12-28-2006, 12:38 PM I won't catch either of you anyway, but I want to see how much ground I can make up. I wish I had gotten in fast enough to put 32 points on my chips though. I can't believe you guys didn't load up on that game.
Glenn 12-28-2006, 02:16 PM Sorry Mo, I had UCLA and 22 pts.
Tonight I've got
Bama- 10
Cal -11
Rutgers- 12
Currently, I have 62 points, as Chris said.

Where you at Mo?

MoTown 01-02-2007, 09:40 AM I would total up your numbers fellas, but it's still before 10:00 and I've only had 1 coffee so far.
I'm at 279.
WTFchris 01-02-2007, 09:52 AM I would total up your numbers fellas, but it's still before 10:00 and I've only had 1 coffee so far.
I'm at 279.
According to ESPN I have 249 and Glenn has 235.
249 is not too shabby for getting the first 9 wrong automatically.
BTW, I would have picked ASU and UCLA wrong, but I would have gotten all the rest of those 9 right. You snooze you loose I guess.
EDIT- I would have picked Oregon too and gotten that one wrong.
WTFchris 01-02-2007, 10:03 AM Just did the math and if Western and Ohio win I beat you Motown. Glenn can only beat me if all his picks lose except Cincy, since we have the same picks for everything else. He cannot catch you though.
Glenn 01-02-2007, 10:43 AM I wish more people would have joined so more of them would have beat me.
MoTown 01-02-2007, 12:20 PM Chris you're really good at making me feel good about my picking ability. I mean, I knew I was bad, but the fact that I can lose to a guy who didn't pick the first 9 games is awesome.
Glenn, I'd say you and I should stick to picking basketball games, but judging by our amount of Alpacas, maybe we should stick to just watching.
See you in Vegas.
WTFchris 01-03-2007, 11:17 AM Recap:
Motown: 304
WTFchris: 277
Glenn: 236
Glenn 01-09-2007, 02:00 PM Interesting that I went 18-14 and Chris went 14-18 and he still beat me. Goddamn confidence points.
Chris actually went 14-9 because he started out 0-9 due to joining late.
Could have made some alpacas at 14-9.
Need your final score to wrap this up Mo, we ended up at 306 and 280.
WTFchris 01-09-2007, 02:15 PM I would have done really well if I didn't pick as a homer on all the Big Ten and MAC teams. I never thought Iowa, Purdue or Ohio had a chance, though I still would have picked Western I think.
Glenn 01-09-2007, 02:22 PM We'll have to do this again next year guys, make it an annual tradition.
I'm pretty sure the people would like, nay demand, that.
MoTown 01-10-2007, 09:36 AM Sorry guys - been out of town.
363
23-9 overall - looks like I put the points on the wrong games - I should have had a lot more points.
