View Full Version : Jason Maxiell is Blossoming at the Right Time iorek64 12-18-2006, 01:15 AM I'm sorry I just couldn't resist...17,12, and the game winner?? I think that counts as blossoming... Glenn 12-18-2006, 09:32 AM need a ruling on this, gents re: Blossoming[smilie=punks.gif] MoTown 12-18-2006, 09:50 AM I think blossoming is taken. Here are some new alternatives to describe J-Max: flourishing burgeoning developing maturing eating young thriving evolving ripening rising budding encouraging bloodshed promoting mass infant genocide exterminating mankind BubblesTheLion 12-18-2006, 09:53 AM promoting mass infant ---------- holocaust Max eats the lean meat of Jewish babies, has to keep in shape. Glenn 12-18-2006, 09:57 AM I kinda like "rising" Fool 12-18-2006, 10:02 AM This should be a poll. "burgeoning" has my vote. UxKa 12-18-2006, 12:27 PM Jason Maxiell is feeding at the right time. Fool 12-18-2006, 12:40 PM Ooh, I like that as well. A poll is definately necessary. Zekyl 12-18-2006, 12:56 PM Maxiell is developing his bloodthirst for innocent children. We, the fans, could not be more proud. UxKa 12-18-2006, 01:30 PM I vote for a poll. A poll for a poll? lol Glenn 12-18-2006, 01:46 PM post the top 5 or so poll options, unless you want every option that has been named so far maybe we need a nomination process first, lol otherwise, somebody's going to come up with something better 5 mins after the poll is posted Uncle Mxy 12-18-2006, 02:34 PM For all those who want to see Maxiell "feeding", he'll be at the Hamlin Pub in Clarkston (well, I-75 and Sashabaw) tonight between 8pm and 9pm. It makes me want to check out what innocent babies they serve at the Hamlin Pub. The restaurant that used to be where the Hamlin Pub is was a Mafia front, so there may be a lot of buried bodies. :) Glenn 12-19-2006, 11:42 AM Anybody else LOL at :mccosky: 's headline today? Maxiell, Davis emerging at opportune time iorek64 12-19-2006, 01:17 PM Sometimes I wonder if they read sports forums and steal ideas... Pharaoh 12-20-2006, 10:44 AM I still think Joe could have taken a risk and possibly drafted Monta Ellis. Instead he went with his gut and got a rock solid guy that will run through a wall for the team. Nothing wrong with that at all. Varsity 12-20-2006, 12:30 PM I still think Joe could have taken a risk and possibly drafted Monta Ellis. Instead he went with his gut and got a rock solid guy that will run through a wall for the team. Nothing wrong with that at all. How much better is Monta Ellis than Flip Murray? I see what he's doing on Don Nelson's offense, but it's also Don Nelson's offense. Zekyl 12-20-2006, 01:38 PM Starters Rasheed Wallace and Nazr Mohammed can hurt you with skill and finesse. Davis and Max just flat-out hurt you. That's what I like to see. [smilie=beat_deadho: Someone needs to make a smiley of Max eating a baby. Pharaoh 12-20-2006, 11:03 PM How much better is Monta Ellis than Flip Murray? I see what he's doing on Don Nelson's offense, but it's also Don Nelson's offense. Imagine what he could have become playing here with Billups, Hunter and Rip. I'm not saying Ellis is gnna be an All-Star or some world beater, but his ceiling is higher than Maxiell's, especially in today's NBA Joe made a good pick with Mad Max and it's basically a sure bet that Max has a nice solid career. I just think that at that point in time Joe could have swung for the fences. Of course, if Ellis ends up being nothing but a flash in the pan then Joe made the right choice. Time will tell. b-diddy 12-21-2006, 12:54 AM just a hunch, but ellis would probably rot at the end of the bench and we'd call hime White part 2. thats the thing about young guys, no opportunity means no results. FP22 12-21-2006, 03:35 AM just a hunch, but ellis would probably rot at the end of the bench and we'd call hime White part 2. thats the thing about young guys, no opportunity means no results. bingo. Just look at Amir to see where Monta would be. Zekyl 12-21-2006, 09:22 AM Everyone seems to forget that Amir was a second round draft pick, and not even early second round. The kid came straight from high school and the only reason he skipped playing for Louisville was because his grades weren't good enough. I want to see what Amir can do as much as any guy here, but I doubt he's as ready as we all seem to think. He's going to need a lot of development and polish before he can become a real contributor. It would be great if the NBA used the NCAA better for development. Draft a prospect and still let him play a few years of college ball to develop. It would keep people from coming out too soon and it would make sure there was always talent in college hoops. Amir could have entered the draft then gone to a smaller school with lower standards and worked on his game for a year or two and not worried about level of competition affecting his draft position. Maybe it wouldn't work at all. Maybe it would be a huge failure, who knows. Just a thought. Black Dynamite 12-21-2006, 03:16 PM Amir is no less polished than any other high schoolers immediately balling in the nba. Its not the NBA it used to be. Its soft as charmin and Play Doh. The "not ready" shit was good about five years ago. Some are immediately ready. I see no harm in playing him. We held Darko back Because we were too deep to get him out there and his Basketball IQ was Remedial low to death. I could wrong though and he could blossom better with Dleague experience. Who knows? Uncle Mxy 12-21-2006, 04:53 PM What Amir needs to learn is only going to happen in the NBA. In the NBADL last year, he scored 17 ppg and 7 rpg in 27 mpg on 67% FG shooting, and that's with him trying to restrain himself because he clearly dominated anyone he was matched against. He's had similar performance during the summer game and (especially) pre-season Pistons games. The biggest problem he has is stupid foul trouble, and he seemed to be getting better every game he played. He wasn't dumbass Darko with shit bouncing off of his head wanting to jumpshoot even when he should take it to the rack. I bet if Amir were at Louisville last year, he'd come out a lottery pick today. There were people thinking we would get a steal using our first round pick on Amir. That was a stupidly deep draft owing to the 18 year old rush, and Amir got tossed aside. BTW, Amir was Mr. Basketball in California. Look at the other players for the past decade or so who've had that honor: 2005 — Amir Johnson, L.A. Westchester, 6-10 2004 — DeMarcus Nelson, Sacramento Sheldon, 6-3 2003 — Trevor Ariza, L.A. Westchester, 6-8 2002 — Hassan Adams, L.A. Westchester, 6-4 2001 — Tyson Chandler, Compton Dominguez, 7-1 2000 — Tyson Chandler, Compton Dominguez, 7-0 1999 — Casey Jacobsen, Glendora, 6-6 1998 — Tayshaun Prince, Compton Dominguez, 6-8 1997 — Baron Davis, Santa Monica Crossroads, 6-2 1996 — Corey Benjamin, Fontana, 6-6 1995 — Paul Pierce, Inglewood, 6-7 With the exception of DeMarcus Nelson, still at Duke, all these folks played at an NBA level as (at worst) a competent backup. MoTown 12-21-2006, 09:24 PM I've never heard of any of those guys. Uncle Mxy 12-21-2006, 11:20 PM In the past 20 years, precisely four Mr. California players didn't make it into the NBA as (at minimum) a serviceable backup for multiple years. Two are still in college. Another had a career ending injury. A fourth was a headcase involved in a recruiting scandal who had the talent to play at an NBA level if he wanted to. Over the years, three Mr. Californias made it in the Basketball HOF (Walton, Sharman, Goodrich) and another on the HOF radar (Kidd). I remember digging into some of this stuff back when Tayshaun was drafted and being impressed. |
