I didn't want to muddy up the What you rolling? thread.

So I bought an XBox but won't be able to open till Christmas. ERay said it'll prolly have an IP address.

Will I be able to launch games from anywhere in my house?

It has 2 wireless controllers...will i be able to play games with keystrokes from other parts of hte house?

My son and I play Need for Speed from different parts of the house with one of us hosting the game, etc. The X should host we just access it over our subnet???

Thanks to whomever can help.

How did you know?

My house is 7000 sq ft, I have a media center where all cat5, coax, phone lines, etc termintate. I was thinking of hooking it up in there so I could play it wherever I wanted.

What do you mean by "launch games from anywhere in my house" Wouldn't you want to launch games near your T.V. that it's hooked up to? What do you mean by keystrokes?

My wife has functions at the house and thats where me or my boy would want to hook up the box play most of the time(except when she has biz there). I wanted to launch from the other side of the house.

I have TVs in a media room, game room, Family room. I was hoping to be able to split the video out at the media center, run it to each room and hook to a particular input to various TVs. ???

Or, if the box has an IP adress, won't I be able to launch a game on my laptop and use keystrokes instead of controlers?

As I was thinking through the questions, I'm thinking this will be harder than what I thought...if its possible at all. Maybe I should buy a few more boxes.

What you are trying to do is not possible.

I've always played games on computers, so I thought the new systems had capabilities like servers or something. My bad. thanks.

Yup, not possible. If you want to play Xbox in multiple locations, you have 2 options. A. Buy more Xboxes, or 2. Move your Xbox.

And you can't play your Xbox games from a laptop either. Gotta have the actual system somewhere nearby.

Ooooh, they have WiFi there? I'm moving.

And Tahoe, no, what you're doing won't be possible -- No playing games on your laptop, and while you could try to launch games from elsewhere in your house via the splitter, the controller only has a 50 ft wireless range. (I think, it might be 30 ft).

I heard that it's 40 ft., but we're in the same ballpark.
