SI.com tossed out 4 KG trade ideas:

Bulls trade: Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas + PJ Brown/Allen as cap filler and 07' 1st rd pick (whichever they own between theirs or the Knicks)
Wolves trade: KG, Mark Madsen, Bracey Wright and 08' 1st rd pick

Lakers trade: Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum + Mihm/Mckie as cap filler and future 1st rd pick
Wolves trade: KG, Madsen, Wright

Pacers trade: Jermaine O'Neal and Danny Graner
Wolves trade: Garnett and two future 2nd rd picks

Nets trade: RIchard Jefferson, Jason Collons, Mile Ilic + McInnis as cap filler and 2 future 1st rd picks
Wolves trade: Garnett, Madsen, Wright

from scout

Every New York loss moves Garnett one step closer to Chicago. Why? Because the Bulls can switch 2007 first-round picks with the Knicks, and with New York struggling, that pick very well could turn out to be Greg Oden. Any deal with Chicago would begin with Ben Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and the pick (giving Minnesota two potential lottery picks in the talent-rich '07 draft). It likely also would include either Andres Nocioni or Luol Deng, plus P.J. Brown's expiring contract to make the salaries match and potentially keep the Timberwolves away from the dreaded luxury-tax threshold next season.

SI.com's trade: Garnett ($21 million), Mark Madsen ($2.1 million), Bracey Wright ($664,000) and a 2008 first-round pick for Gordon ($3.9 million), Thomas ($3.3 million), Deng ($2.6 million), Brown ($8.6 million), Malik Allen ($1.8 million) and the Bulls' 2007 first-round pick.

If the salaries don't match, we can't do it. I don't know what our cap number is (it's around 51 mil), but I do know we don't have any space. We'd have to match to do a deal. To do that Nazr would have to be in the deal.

I would give them Sheed, Hunter, DD and Orlando's pick for KG.

Hunter would be waived anyway, and we could always resign him.

Honestly, I think Joe needs to do something big (maybe not as big as a KG trade, but something big) to save this team. I don't think the Pistons are going anywhere this year, and the time is now for a lot of these guys. Just like the McCosky article says - these guys aren't excited anymore. A big trade that could make them the team to beat again would do it.

Something needs to change - this team is just going through the motions. When Joe D. got Sheed 3 years ago, he was a monster. He came in - everyone's demeanor changed. We were throughing alley-oops, showing emotion - playing with fire. We need to change something now.

Editors note - this isn't a sky is falling post, more of a "get your asses in gear" post.

the last time Joe did something big, we got Sheed and a championchip...nobody wanted to gamble with Sheed, thats why we got him for some scrubs....the problem with KG is, everyone wants him and so the Twolves will get a lot of young talent and/or some allstars...

Who's worth gambling on?

The guy I've been thinking of gambling on longer-term would be Chris Andersen, but that's mostly because I think he'd be amusing.

If I had an Alpaca for every KG to Detroit rumor there has ever been......well I'd lose them all on some random over/under bet

I agree that something needs to happen to get these guy's heads into it but KG is a little far fetched

i love KG but to begin with, we don't have the salaries to match to deal for him. if we did we'd have to give up half our roster (sheed and fillers, which the wolves wouldn't want) or our only good players to satisfy them.

then we'd just become the t-wolves of the east. so what would be the point? sure we'd get a true superstar and make an 'exciting' move to shake thigns up.

but if it's not really going to put us over the top like the sheed deal, why bother? (let's not forget how lucky we were to pull off the sheed deal and how little we actually gave up. that was a lucky, once in a lifetime trade that we couldn't do with KG)

i know people don't like to hear about draft picks because joe has missed on some. but we SERIOUSLY need to keep those picks and trading them in a deal like this would cripple this franchise IMO.

getting KG would restrict what other moves we could make and it would mean giving up valuable picks that are ESSENTIAL to rebuilding this team. because we're not going to get to the promised land with what we have at this rate.

so our only hope is to hold onto valuable first round picks in hopes of parlaying them into a wingplayer who can get to the rim and score off the dribble.

otherwise we will remain an extremely flawed team, capable of winning 50 games but incapable of getting past the 2nd round for years to come.

as painful as it is, i say that if we make any 'big' or major moves, they should be to get younger, more athletic players or cap space and draft picks.

there just aren't any moves out there we can make with this current roster that are going to get us a player to put us over the top, like we were able to do with sheed. this team IMO is mismatched and has no identity. so while we might not have to necessarily blow the WHOLE team up, we certainly need a LOT more than just one great player acquisition.

oh and BTW- KG is nice and i like him. but his knees scare the hell out of me.
