I may have too much time on my hands, but bear with me. If USC nudges OSU and UM beats LSU impressively, can UM win another half NC? Would the AP voters faovr UM like they did a couple years ago when USC and LSU shared the national championship? Am I a geek?[smilie=beat_deadho:

I think it's possible because U of M did not lose to OSU by much. It's less possible for USC to beat OSU though IMO.

I think if U-M wins impressively vs. LSU and USC squeaks past OSU, Michigan might have a shot at the AP title. I mean, if Nebraska can leapfrog an undefeated Michigan team in '97 that won the Rose Bowl, Michigan should have a shot to jump a team with one loss who lost to unranked Oregon State.

What would really be interesting is if USC beats OSU in overtime, Michigan beats LSU by two TD's, and Florida wins in a blowout.
3 teams would have a strong case for the NC.

Now that we know we're going to the Rose Bowl, I'm wondering if OSU kills Florida and we destroy USC, if there could be any hope of a split national championship??

If OSU kills Florida, no. OSU would have to lose a close game to Florida. Meanwhile, Michigan would probably have to beat USC by at least 3 scores.

Example: 1 loss Florida beats OSU 23-20.
Michigan beats USC 31-13.

IF something like that were to happen, the BCS would award Florida as the champion. However, I think the AP would possibly award Michigan.

But any scenario in which Ohio State wins, they are the obvious sole champion, having beaten the #2 team in the country 3 times.

I would also guess that OSU and Florida would have to play a sloppy game, maybe with lots of turnovers/miscues.

It's going to be a tall order to get the split, since we'd be depending on voters again.

Almost any Florida win is going to make them feel like they made the right decision with the Florida-OSU matchup.
