in the past, i've usually gone to D.O.C. (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.docoptics.com%2F&ei=XdNtRZ6yB4iUogLbrfTjDA&usg=__cHDUyySP4292oEs3qShY6EzaWvE=&sig2=auy4Ao2w1Xn6Fy_P6UZ4vQ) and gotten eye exams there. i wear contact lenses, but i need to get some glasses, so i don't have to wear my contacts so often.
i noticed America's Best (http://www.twopair.com/) is pretty damn cheap. $70 for two pairs of glasses and eye exam. so cheap, it's a little worrisome. i heard some radio commercials for Direct Optical (http://www.directopticalsuperstore.com/) as well. i think Costco has an optometry dept, too.
any experiences or advice for eye places?

I can't believe that this is even a question.
Your eyes are important.

Well, I don't spend much time on glasses. i only wear mine in the morning/evening after I take my contacts out (for less than an hour). I just get a pair at a DOC type place and use them for as many years as I can. I order my contacts from lens.com and save a ton compared to an eye doctor. plus my insurance still covers their portion thru those sites (you just have to send the reciept to blue cross after you pay).
couldn't help you on glasses though. i hate glasses because you don't get even vision at all angles (ie looking outside the lens), the curvature can play tricks on you, you get a glare at night, they get dirty and always need to be cleaned, fogging up, can't lay down and wear them easily. I'm too chicken to get laser correction right now, so contacts are it.

I've had good experiences with Lynn Optical, on Telegraph between M-59 and Summit Place. They were recommended by a friend's mom a few years back. Everyone seems real and friendly, and no one is a jerk or pushy AFAICT. As of a couple months ago, I know they have at least one Pistons fan who works there, and there's some little NBA thingamadoo on the counter. I don't have fancy needs, and I've had decent optical coverage for awhile, so I don't have a clue on pricing.

I go to DOC. A bit expensive but you can't be cheap when it comes to eyewear.
