If we aren't going to play him, and he's got an expiring contract, then...

Let the make-believe trades commence!!

(Bill Davidson comments are welcome here as well.)

there isn't anything we could get for him really IMO. He's basically filler as part of another deal. Unless some team is without their big man for a long time we won't get much in return.

We do have two 1st round draft picks that we won't find playing time for...

Glenn

Denver lost KMart so...

Boykins & JR Smith for

DD & a pick

---------

PHX may want some Amare insurance...

Raja Bell for

DD & Delfino

---------

POR has injuries to Pryzbilla & LaFrentz...

Travis Outlaw & filler for

DD

---------

Watson wants out, we could use his defense. Sonics need bigs due to injuries.

Earl Watson for

DD & Flip Murray (after 12/15/06)

---------

Haywood wants out of Washington, still has some upside

Brendan Haywood & pick for

DD & Blalock

----------

Of course, any deal involving us taking on additional years/salary won't happen due to ownership's commitment to "fiscal responsibility".

I've learned from the Cato experience not to mock Glenn's desire to move dead big-men.

Not intereseted in any of those really. haven't seen enough of Smith to say if I really like him though.

I like Bell but Phoenix won't do that. He fits too well there.

Watson is a little overpaid, which would bite us in the butt if we resign Chauncey for 14-15 mil/yr. I'd like that deal if Chauncey pulled a Ben and left though.

I don't think Washington would trade Haywood and a pick to us for that.

I'd rather start Dale than Nazr.

i agree. the nazr signing got us a player who does pretty much what davis does. but we paid $25 million for him.

should've just gone with what we had and saved the money and not made this panicked 'PR move' to sign mohammed. don't get me wrong, the kid CAN play some.

but not for the money he's making or the way we're using (or WASTING) him.

i hope to god we can make a miraculous trade with him and/or dice who can opt out after this season too. we desperately need some young players and another first round pick or 2.

Davis and Dupree/Murray for Charlie Bell and Skinner(filler)

I have no idea why Milwaukee would do this... but I sure as hell like it

Davis appears to be back in the rotation.

All thanks to this thread, I'm sure.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – As the Seattle SuperSonics dropped their fourth consecutive game, a 97-93 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night, it became apparent that they need another big man in the middle.

With Robert Swift out for the season with a knee injury and with a clear problem at center because Johan Petro is not comfortable in the starting role, the Sonics (10-15) are on the lookout for a veteran starting center.

General manager Rick Sund and director of player personnel David Pendergraft, both of whom were at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Sunday night, are evaluating talent and making calls to other general managers in an effort to pry loose a player that could help them. A player such as Detroit’s Dale Davis is a perfect candidate.

“Until our young bigs improve a little – and by young I mean Petro and (Mouhamed) Sene – a veteran big guy would give us a better chance to win,” Pendergraft said. “If we had Robert (Swift), we wouldn’t be having this discussion. He is a legitimate starting center in the NBA.

“We are hopeful that Petro will continue to do what he is doing and we will continue to look for help. I think having a starting center would be a comfort to Ray (Allen) and (Rashard Lewis).”

I posted that deal with the assumption that Flip just wasn't going to use DD, so we might as well move him. Now, I'm not so sure...

The only problem is I don't think the Sonics would want Flip back.

Trade Nazr and a 2nd rounder for Watson and a filler. Please?

Glenn

^no shit, if we could give them Nazr and Flip Jr. for Watson and a project like Petro, that would work too.

That would solve our future center issue and our backup pg issue. Not very likely to happen though, especially after Petro went for 16 and 10 boards the other night. They aren't going to give up someone with that kind of promise for someone like Nazr. Blaylock looked better than expected the other night, but he's not up to being a primary backup yet.
