Small ball is fun (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061114/SPORTS0102/611140370/1127)

The run-and-gun style, in vogue again because of teams like the Suns, is changing lineups.

Seemingly everybody, including the Pistons, is experimenting with a smaller, quicker lineup.

Prince has seen his role change, going from a small forward (three) to a quicker four (power forward) when the Pistons go with a three-guard set.

"It's a way to win in the regular season, but it ain't the way to win in the playoffs," Prince said. "It's just not going to happen. I mean, sooner or later it will, don't get me wrong, a team that plays small will win eventually because everybody is starting to convert that way. But right now, nah, it's not going to happen."

there's something about players criticizing the coach's decisions publically that worries me.....[smilie=sayitaintso:

Maybe we need a "players griping about Flip" thread.

Tayshaun doesn't want to play PF against Tim Duncan again.
I can't say I blame him.

Bring back Darvin Ham. He can do it

well to be fair, when you have a coach like Flip Saunders, it's not like you have to put much effort into finding stuff to criticize. but yeah it is bad form I guess. I can't seem to care though considering how mediocre we look.

I don't see that comment as a shot at Flipper.

It's just Tay giving his opinion.

No where does he say "Flip is a fucking moron for thinking small ball is gonna work in the playoffs"

I don't get why Maxiell can't play the four in those situations anyway. He's quick enough to run the floor and won't get completely dominated down low.

Small ball is absolutly retarded, but with the complete lack of big men, I can see why teams are doing it.

Big men aren't effective in the new NBA. They're just the clouds who foul Wade and Bron Bron on their way to the rack.

i think they are even more important(big centers and fowards) in the new nba. miami, SA, and even Dallas all still subscribe to the idealism with fairly good results. I mean honestly how good is miami w/o shaq. no even the officials could make up for his absence.

Thank you NBA, for all those fouls on Sheed Ben and Dice.
If I have nightmares about that, I bet Tay does too.

Um, Hall of Fame Coach LB had Elden Campbell and Darko Milicic on the bench and refused to play either of them against Duncan, or play McDyess with 5 fouls at that point in the game.

Forget your nightmares, kill LB for making such a stupid fucking choice in the biggest game of his career.

watching this sorry excuse of a team miami w/o shaq reminds me how silly it is to think that big men are falling out of favor in this league. they still own this league and we need sheed to be our big guy weapon with no Ben.
