Tom Izzo decided to put Michigan State on his back this weekend when he attended Lowell's playoff game. Izzo visited Keith Nichol and put his basketball recruiting skills to work. He let Nichol know that Michigan State is not going to accept mediocrity or below mediocrity with its football program any longer. He assured Keith that MSU would hire the right coach this time.

I tell you what, Izzo just keeps amazing me. What basketball coach would do this for his University? Most basketball coaches would probably be happy with being the program that is center of attention. I don't know if there is another bball coach in the country that would spend his weekend time helping the University/Football program like this. Izzo continues to show what a stand up guy he is.

I tell ya what, hire a HC and let Izzo recruit for the football program too.

Tom Izzo-insert bow down emoticon

The kind of response I'd expect from a Michigan fan.

Caputo was talking ... I think Friday night ... about whether Izzo would want any say in the decision of head coach. This seems like a very self-sacrificing way to be involved (I assume Nichol is a player prospect). It might also be a sign that he's going to throw his hat into the ring over who gets to make the final decision as to the head coach. I don't expect Izzo would be cool with putting his rep on the line to players and then watching the administration pick another lunny who blows up every season.

This is the same Izzo that advised his buddy not to take the job because it was a no-win situation.
Translation = State football isn't good enough for Izzo's best friend but he's more than willing to look a recruit in the face and lie to him about the direction of the program.
That's not typicla Michigan response. That's 2+2.

Can someone tell me how this thread is different from the thread that Muhm made ("Stanton Says") and Tre went nuts over, with the exception of the context?

Its not...Tre just hates me. lol

Izzo is the man and he knows what he has to do. Too bad Nichol got poped and lost.

Get your facts straight. Izzo never advised Mooch not to take the job. That was an article where a writer thought Izzo might do that. Go to scout.com for proof. That was Michigan created garbage.

What in the hell are you talking about? You make no sense at all.

“Stanton say” –an entire thread based on Stanton saying “Michigan’s D is better than OSU’s last year.” -Sorry, not a story

“Izzo visits Nichol” –a thread based on a Basketball Coach spending his own time to go out and ensure a Football recruit that MSU will find a great coach. –Seeing that I’ve never heard of anything like this before, I’d consider it a story.

Found several articles on the Izzo story, didn’t find any about Stanton’s comment. How are they the same in any way? You sound retarded.

More typical Michigan fan stuff. You guys can’t handle one positive thing said about MSU, you have to post something immature or idiotic in the thread. Here you’ve got a coach doing a really cool selfless thing and the thread lights up with Moodini jerking off or Jethro twisting it into Izzo’s a hypocrite story. Absolutely pathetic. Go look at the “Hart best back” thread, the “Michigan’s D” thread, the “Manny to Meeeichigan” thread. Do you see any idiotic “hater” posts by Tre? Nope, because State fans don’t act like middle schoolers.

This is my favorite line: "Typical Michigan fan stuff" A statement Tre uses to try and ridicule Michigan fans. Sorry to break it to you, but you sound like an idiot every time you say that. Clumping Michigan fans together every time after a statement you disagree about is kinda pathetic.

Anyways - back to the point. My point wasn't to tell you this thread is stupid. I could care less about the thread. You are a tried and true Spartan fan - congrats. My point is actually the one that you are making:
You create tons of threads daily about the Spartans and who commits and who says what. No one has any problem with it. If you don't like the thread, you don't read it, that's the way I've always seen it. But Muhme comes in and starts a thread about the Michigan defense and your response is "This thread is stupid! Who cares!?!?" Guess what - Michigan fans care - they are interested in what the Spartan QB (That every Michigan fan respects) has to say. You can call it a bragging thread - but the thread is still legit. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's a stupid thread. I'm sorry that a thread that has Stanton's name in the title isn't soley about him.

So, in conclusion, you made my point for me. I don't care if you make countless threads about MSU. None of us do. But don't come in and blast a thread made about Michigan's D because you're not interested in it.

Dude, you completely missed my point in that Stanton says thread and I already explained it there. Had the thread been, "Michigan's defense" or something to that extent and had Muhme proceeded by initiating a discussion about how good their D is, I wouldn't have complained. That wasn't the thread though, it was just Stanton said their D is better than OSU's. It was a thread based on a general quote. Muhme did explain later that he just wanted to initiate a how good their D is thread and that is fine. You missed the point.

I agree with Mo. Do we need an entire thread about Izzo's visit to Nichol? Sounds like football recruiting to me.

If you don't like it, don't read it.

I could have done without a Hart praise thread and a Michigan D thread too. Didn't see me complaining.

Admit it, you just can't handle one good thing said about MSU. It's a good story.

You're totally missing the point. There are appreciation threads all over this site. Check the NBA forum, there's a Nazr Mohammed appreciation thread right now. Why can't there be a Mike Hart apprectiation thread in the NCAA forum when he's the clear cut fiery leader on a 10-0 Michigan team?

The Michigan defense thread is a very valid debate. Michigan's D was dominant in '97 and won a National Championship. Many in the national media are saying the defense this year is even better and they have a chance to win a National Title this year. It's a common debate this year in Big Ten circles and I thought it would get some interest here.

Your story about Izzo visitng Nichol is newsworthy, but I'm just saying it should be in the football recruiting thread.

Man, the college news is definately slow when the UM and MSU slaps are bitching at each other over thread legitimacy.

UM and MSU fans will always argue about anything. You could flip a coin and the one that loses will argue about the result. That's the nature of the rivalry. Everyone on here will skew stats, flat-out make shit up (I've caught everyone at least once, even if you deny it), and over-/under-rate the other team for the sake of feeling better. If it were any other way, it wouldn't be nearly as fun.
Still blows my mind that I have more State fan friends than Michigan fans. It seems that disagreement is more fun that consensus.

I didn't make that Detroit Free Press Article up! haha I have never "made up" anything in my life. Was I wrong? Yes, but when I posted it, I thought that was what I read. Keep in mind I read it in our locker room after a game in the midst of celebrating. Just want to clear that up lol

Well that Grady getting an MSU offer was actually true, but I misread where it was a football schollie and not a Bball one from MSU.

Everyone makes mistakes when getting information from other place, because we are not there to actually hear stuff first hand (for the most part).
