Wow. This wasn't even their tough game. Looking ahead perhaps? With Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame still on the schedule they could end up with multiple losses.

Every week it looks a hair more realistic to believe that their could potentially be a perfect storm. With enough key losses (particularly in the SEC - as in the winner of the SEC championship game having 2 losses) I am starting to believe that a very close but well-played game on Nov 18 could potentially keep both teams ranked high enough in the BCS that we could see a rematch 7 weeks later.

I don't think it will happen, but I'm seeing signs that it is possible.

Yeah, SC goes down. I actually think Pete Carroll is relieved. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year, but the romp against the Pigs reset that theory.

actually odds our that we could end up with a rematch with notre dame or we end up with cal.

This is a good post from the UM Scout Premium board.

"My one contact in or around the team tells me the staff expects to end up in Arizona, regardless of what happens on Nov. 18.

Of course if we win we're in the NC game, and OSU will be picked by the Rose, for sure. But if we lose, my source says the coaches expect the Rose Bowl to look for a team that hasn't been there twice in the past three years (and coming off a loss to boot), and that we'll end up in the Fiesta -- where we'd meet the winner of the Big 12 (assuming Texas doesn't somehow end up in the NCG).

Btw, here's the official procedure for selections replacing teams that make it to the NCG, for those of you who don't know (like me, until I found this):

Quote:If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.

So if USC and the winner of the Big Ten were both to go to the NCG, the Rose would get to pick twice before any other bowls select a team."

Again this is a copy and paste job. Not my original work.

Hopefully this helps my 1-loss Badgers. I thought it was ironic that the announcer during the Badger game today was pointing out that Texas was the definite number 3 as the best 1-loss team simply because they lost to #1 but didnt even mention the Badgers even though their 1-loss is because of #2. By his logic they should be #4, but announcers suck. My 2c.

UxKa, I gotta give you some dap. Your Badgers are a damn good team and are looking like a real quality win for U-M. Any word on Hill's injury? Hopefully he's not out for too long.

O-State 9-0, Meeechigan 9-0, Badgers 8-1. The Big Ten is very top heavy.

I think the Badgers are a decent team, but there OCC schedule is always so weak it is hard to tell what you get from them, but the more they win the better it is for UM.

I dont even remember posting that, shoulda been in the drunk thread lol. Id like to adjust that too, forgot about WV. And I dont really think UW is a top 5 for the record. Havent heard about Hill but it looked kinda nasty when it happened.

The polls surprise me in anumber of ways.
First, the current BCS poll. The computer average gives Michigan a 1.000, meaning they unanimously have Michigan jumping over Ohio State after what most people called a lackluster win, while Ohio State won big.
Next, the big teams that Michigan beat continue to get zero respect. Neither Notre Dame nor Wisconsin moved in the polls. The team ahead on Notre Dame lost, but Cal jumped them to keep them at 11. Wisconsin stayed at 17.
This week should be big. Notre Dame probably won't get any respect until they play USC - and we'll have to wait and see where the USC program is at that point, after games against Cal and Oregon.
Wisconsin needs to beat Penn State this week to gain respect. It could be tough if Hill is out, but they need to get it done.
But Thursday is the big WVU - Louisville game that will drop another undefeated team. Plus I think this week is LSU - Tennessee, which should stir the rankings a bit as well.

Most of the polls used by the computer don't take into account score differential - for the most part it's just who wins. The computers feel that Michigan has had a harder schedule, and thus most favor them. They also give love to Notre Dame(whom they rank as #5). Cal jumped because it is currently undefeated in what most of the computer's feel is the toughest/2nd toughest conference. The computer formulas could definitely use some tweaking, but I was just trying to explain the current rankings. Wisconsin is a decent team, but let's be honest - they picked a tomato can OOC schedule and outside of Michigan they haven't really played a tough B10 game yet.

They were going completely apeshit up there in the valley. A friend of mine said he went to 7 parties that night.

We further south applaud the effort and can't WAIT for our turn.

That's just crazy talk. It's playoff time.
