I'm amused by the reviews:

I hate the Pistons and yet I'm still going to be forced to buy this because it has 6 games featuring Michael Jordan, including 5-27-89 game 3 where he scores 46-17 in the 4th and the game-winning bank shot over a helpless, inkless Dennis Rodman. Also, 6-2-89 game 6, one of Jordan's most famous moves: he steals the ball, saves it inbounds, gets it back and does a hanging, back-to-the-basket layup with a foul from Laimbeer. Could be worse, I could be forced to buy the box set for one game instead of six.

This wouldn't be complete about the last couple games of 1988, though. After Magic's injury, the 1989 Finals were anticlimactic.

wow! 11 DVDs....! that must be a pretty detailed look at the season. i'd love to get my hands on that. but yes- a 1988 version would be nice too.

I don't need a 1988 -version-, which would probably gush for the Lakers and miss out on the bullshit phantom foul Laimbeer got which made it all possible. But the urgency of 1989 just doesn't make sense without those last couple games as a starting point, much as the Bulls first championship doesn't make sense without showing past footage of us beating them again and again.

Kstat has some of these sets (I think). Are these just the games or do they include interviews or ant sort of featurette?

I have the NY, LA, Chicago and Boston sets. There's a Philly set too, but it was overpriced.

However, NBA entertainment has gone in an entirely new direction with the new sets (Detroit, Houston, Miami).

The previous sets included featurettes, the official championship recap videos, but ONLY the clinching games from each championship, maybe with an extra game thrown in here or there.

Those sets were no more than 5 DVDs. The Bulls and NY sets were only two.

The Detroit and Houston sets aren't focusing on the entire franchise history, they're only focusing on the FIRST championship for each franchise. This is a whole new twist. They're overloading on complete games, including EVERY conference final and finals game, in their entirety.

With the Pistons, it's an 11-DVD set, and they played 10 semifinals/finals games. So, I assume the extra DVD will be full of bonus features.

Amazon has it for $45 I believe.

I imagine local stores will have it for cheaper though, since they're likely to make double orders.

Jason Maxiell wins contests.

I'm bumping this thread because I just won this set from the folks over at DetroitBadBoys.com (http://www.detroitbadboys.com/archives/2006-11-14/dbb-haiku-contest-and-the-winners-are/)

Since I won it with a trademarked WTFDetroit line, I'm up for sharing this thing (however that would be done) once I get it. If anyone's interested let me know and we'll figure something out (burns/digital/whatever).
