I really wanted to fit Dwight Howard in there somewhere, because I think he's going to have a monster year, but a lot of these awards are won on reputation, and he's not there yet.

This is the year they give the DPOY to Bruce Bowen (twice runner up). The East is pretty even power wise so most of the other awards go West as well. Kobe for MVP, and Mussleman (http://www.doyouremember.co.uk/images/memorabilia/Toys/muscle-men.jpg) for COY.

I just noticed that I have all of my winners coming from the East, lol. Maybe the "east coast media bias" will help?

As far as Flip goes, I think the stage is set perfectly for him to win COY.

Given up for dead, fools like Hollinger projecting 20 fewer wins, if they win the Central again, Flip would have to be a favorite.

Man, that division is going to be a dogfight.

First off, lets take 'T-Mobile' off rookie of the year. There was a rookie of the year way before T-Mobile existed, and advert plugs like that are my biggest pet peeve right now. But, I believe theres a thread here for that anyway.

Coach of the Year: Isiah
Defensive Player: Amare
Sixth Man Award: Dice
Rookie: Morrison
Most Valuable Player: Lebron
Most Improved Player: Nazr

Sure I had two homer votes (Isiah doesnt count). I think Dice should be sixth man every year because who else has an awesome big that comes off the bench first in every game during an era where any big is such a commodity. We all know Detroit has a big six, where most teams have a starting five. I think Nazr will win most improved because I believe he will have a career year in Detroit. Isiah can go over .500 and get it just because of how horrible NY was last year, and it would be that much better than LB did. Amare will live above the rim like he is supposed to, and will average about 50 blocks per game. Morrison has had the media sucking him off for a couple years already, and unless someone blows the NBA up like Chris Paul did he will get it. Lebron, needs to fulfill the prophecy so he will get the vote. If you ask me he should have got it last year (even though I hate Leoffarm) because the Cavs without him would have been worse than the Suns without Nash.

coach: skott skiles (isiah thomas wild card)
dpoy: ben wallace (my lock pick) (zo wild card)
6th man: zo
rookie: aldridge* (cheik samb wild card-my insiders say he'll be a player if he gains 50 LBs of muscle).
mvp: james (chauncy wild card
MIP:ben gordon (raymond felton wild card)

*aldridge im picking cuz i thought he was far and away the best college player... but since he's missed training camp and he'll start the season on the IR, i'll make a backup pick of foye. aldridge is also contingent on the lock trade of the year: randolph getting traded to the knicks.

My coach of the year pick just got a DUI. He's not starting off well.

MVP: LeBron James
DPOY: Ben Wallace
Rookie: Adam Morrison
Sixth Man: Jerry Stackhouse
MIP: Mike Dunleavy, Jr.
COY: Flip Saunders

I look for LeBron to continue his momentum from last year's playoffs. I think Ben is going to have a monster year (he's got a ton to prove). Morrison will get plenty of chances in Charlotte. Stack is in a contract year. Dunleavy is in a system which will maximize his skills (similar to Diaw).

As for Saunders, everyone needs to remember that no coach was under more pressure to win last season than Saunders. He was replacing a coach who, in his 2 seasons, led his team to one title and was one win away from another. THAT, IMO, is why Saunders played the starters so much. He had to win.

This year, there isn't nearly the expectations. Most Piston fans are expecting around 50 wins (or they should be). Saunders will be able to give more minutes to guys like Delfino, Murray, and Maxiell, even if the Pistons lose more games. Remember, this was a coach who made players like Malik Sealy, Trenton Hassell, Rasho Nesterovic, Troy Hudson, and Mark Madsen into key contributors for winning teams.

So I agree with Glenn. With the lower expectations, things are set up perfectly for Saunders to win this award.

Missed this the first time around.

Coach of the Year: Scott Skiles (I'm liking the Bulls this year)
Defensive Player: Camby (if....)
Sixth Man Award: Nocioni (surprised he's the popular pick already)
T-Mobile Rookie: Brandon Roy (it's in his name, how can you not pick him?)
Most Valuable Player: LeBron (the league will nearly hand it to him if he's close)
Most Improved Player: Darko (yeah)

Daviticus 2.39

COY: Mike Dunleavy (I really think the Clippers are going to win around 55 games.)
Defensive Player: Duncan (Ben will not win it 5 times, it's a crime Duncan hasn't won this yet, and he's pissed about his "off" year last year. Ben won the last 2 on reputation.)
Sixth Man: Nocioni (even though this guy's a douche)
ROY: Randy Foye - Brandon Roy can't make up my mind
MVP: Kobe
MIP: JASON MAXIELL
