Saginaw's own Jerome Jackson gave the Wolverines the win on this TD plunge in OT in Iowa City last year. Will the rematch be that close?

Not much hype for this game, probably due to Iowa's stunning loss @ Indiana, but it should be Michigan's toughest test before the showdown in Columbus. Iowa is very banged up, but I wouldn't overlook the Hawkeyes, they have some talented cats that can do damage, led by the do everything QB, Drew Tate.

The #2 team in the country has already lost 4 times this year, can Michigan avoid the jinx?

i think that meeeshigan will avoid the jinx. even though the iowa QB is like 10 feet tall, he cant do it all. iowa is good an all, but i just dont see them takin it to michigan. michigan has had i believe, three games this year within two touchdowns and want to blow that stat line up since only one of those scores was against a good team, wisconsin. (homer plug there  ) 31-13 UM.

I thought Tate was actually a midget.

No, seriously, he's only 6'0", quite short for a Big Ten QB.

shit, maybe i should follow iowa more lol. was i thinking of chandler? i know a year or two ago they had a really tall quarterback. my bad. [smilie=sayitaintso:

Yeah, Chander was a QB and his brother a TE. That's ok, I can understand a Wisconsin fan living in the past.
lol
Totally kidding. Actually, being the 3rd best team in the Big Ten and blowing out the majority of your opponents, you can say just about whatever you want. You'll likely finish with just 1 loss.
But yeah, Tate is a shrimp. Dang good, but a shrimp nonetheless.

Well I'll help bring it back a bit.

I have no clue what to expect from this game. I have a hard time forgetting that Michigan always seems to lose one midseason game and, in the Tressel era, the Ohio State game. I can't see us losing to Northwestern or Ball State. I thought Indiana would be a blowout as well, but they have an amazing receiving threat, the kind of kid that if he keeps his head on right can win a Biletnikoff, that could take over a game. So I'm not positive about that one.
But otherwise all signs point to this game. For a few years Iowa was Michigan's nemesis. They've beaten Michigan at the Big House to put a damper on the season in recent enough memory. They're a team that has enough talent that they were picked by some to be among the top in the Big Ten, and they found themselves respected in the rankings until recently. They're very angry, and Tate was picked by some as the best QB in the conference!

All that being said, I don't think they will do a good enough job stopping the run. Michigan will find enough offensive rythym to score over 20. I think Tate may be able to will this team down the field and catch the secondary napping a bit to score a couple TD's. But when it's over Michigan should win by at least 6. But the line is at 13.5 or something, and I just don't think Michigan will cover that spread (which would be the first time all season they have failed to cover the spread).

Michigan will win big. Tate will throw two ints and have a meltdown in the 2nd quarter. Michigan wins by 21+

I believe Michigan is now the best team in the country and it is their National Championship to lose. There is nobody but OSU in their way and that will be the NC game. Nobody waiting in the NC game will be able to beat OSU or Michigan. I seriously would pick Michigan right now.

Bob Griese should not be doing Michigan football games. The guy is so biased it is unbelievable. After a big Breaston return, this was his comment, "Field position hasn't been a problem, it is what WE do with it that has been the problem."
Unbelievable.

i was coming on here to say braestan had his best half of the year, and then he goes and pops a huge kick return.

i am a little concerned, though. henne doesnt look nearly as good as he did last week. part of that is probably Iowa's d.

Wow, Tre.[smilie=jaw-droppin: Shocking outlook and admission from DrTre. I feel the same way, but I'm obviously a little biased. It took some serious cajones to come on here and make that statement. Much dap playa.[smilie=applause.gi:

ugly win . way too conservative, and the defense was giving up too much space. they very well coulda lost that game. but on to the next game and hopefully manningham will be back soon. Arrington is showing to be a good possession receiver. but not a deep threat.

Overall a good day at The Big House. It's obvious the loss of Manningham is hurting Michigan. Without Super Mario, defenses are able to creep their safeties up to the line of scrimmage, slowing down the Wolverine rushing attack. Without run success, playaction becomes less effective. With all of that said, Michigan's defense proved again they are the best in the country, not allowing a touchdown all day to Iowa, and forcing the Hawks to settle for 3 when they got the ball deep in Michigan territory. I am very impressed with Michigan's performances, it beating 2 quality opponents the last 2 weeks without their most explosive offensive threat.

Michigan is now 8-0 and have covered the spread every week. Just wait until Mario comes back, which should be the Indiana game. This team is on a mission.

Just a few moments, observation and insight from yesterday......
Tyler Ecker was walking fine as he walked in the locker room, he should be ready to go soon.

I saw Mike Massey walk into the locker room with his arm in a sling. I sit next to Jake Long's girlfriend at the games, and I asked her about it, and she told me he has a separated shoulder.

Mario Manningham was walking around on crutches, but didn't seem to be using them. He was just walking regular, putting weight on both legs.

I saw RoJo as he was walking to the Michigan sideline. I shouted, "RoJo!" A guy he was with, I'm guessing it was his dad heard me and tapped RoJo on the shoulder and pointed to me. I shouted, "RoJo!" again and gave him a point. He smiled then I yelled, "Come to Michigan baby!" and I pointed to my Michigan sweatshirt. He was all smiles and feeling it big time. Lloyd Carr should put me on the payroll.

8 down, 5 to go.....GO BLUE!
