Had a debate last night with the wife re: Big Bird.
I say it's female and she says it's male.
My argument is that it is always sitting in a nest, how many male birds do that?
She decided to call one of our friends that knows a lot about these things (I think everybody has one of those friends), and he says that all female Sesame Street characters wear clothing, so Big Bird must be male.
We've had similar discussion about Tweety Bird before too, and if I recall correctly, there are a ton of conflicting opinions about that one too.
Anybody have any insight or other examples of gender confusion with cartoon/children's characters?
C'mon, it's Friday.
p.s. I suppose you could throw Peppermint Patty in there, although she's clearly a female, it has long been rumored that she is a lesbian.
