View Full Version : Playoff rotation Glenn 09-26-2006, 12:12 PM Leyland may not have the luxury to get it exactly the way he wants it since we're still battling the Twins for the division, but if you could set it any way that you wanted to, what rotation would you use for the playoffs? MoTown 09-26-2006, 12:15 PM Rogers Bonderman Verlander Robertson I'd even keep Ladezma out of the Bullpin for the playoffs. Glenn 09-26-2006, 12:30 PM Rogers and Nate have been on fire over the past month, and Bondo/JV notsomuch. If Kenny & Nate weren't both lefties I'd be tempted to go with them as #1 and #2, but I think it would be wise to stick a righty in between. Rogers has been shit against the Yankees, so if we were to face the Yanks, it might not even be a bad idea to move him to #3, and that would allow him to pitch after Bonderman, which would be a nice change of pace. So I guess I'd go with this if we play Oakland: 1. Rogers 2. Bondo 3. Robertson 4. Verlander And if we play the Yankees: 1. Robertson 2. Bondo 3. Rogers 4. Verlander b-diddy 09-26-2006, 01:24 PM since games are played every other day, you probably will only see 3 starters... and in a real jam, teams have pitched a guy on 3 days wrest, which never works. clearly rogers and robertson are in. bondo and verlander both struggled down the stretch. i really dont have a clue who i'd use for the third spot. but gun to my head, i'd take verlander, just cuz he's such a change of pace off rogers. MoTown 09-26-2006, 02:06 PM I thought the games were always 3 out of 4 days. Three teams will play and one will sit. Am I losing it? b-diddy 09-26-2006, 02:21 PM ALDS A Game Matchup Day Date Time TV Gm 1 TBD @ TBD Tue Oct. 3 TBA TBA Gm 2 TBD @ TBD Wed Oct. 4 TBA TBA Gm 3 TBD @ TBD Fri Oct. 6 TBA TBA Gm 4* TBD @ TBD Sat Oct. 7 TBA TBA Gm 5* TBD @ TBD Sun Oct. 8 TBA TBA * - if necessary NLDS A Game Matchup Day Date Time TV Gm 1 TBD @ TBD Tue Oct. 3 TBA TBA Gm 2 TBD @ TBD Thu Oct. 5 TBA TBA Gm 3 TBD @ TBD Sat Oct. 7 TBA TBA Gm 4* TBD @ TBD Sun Oct. 8 TBA TBA Gm 5* TBD @ TBD Mon Oct. 9 TBA TBA * - if necessary ALDS B Game Matchup Day Date Time TV Gm 1 TBD @ TBD Tue Oct. 3 TBA TBA Gm 2 TBD @ TBD Wed Oct. 4 TBA TBA Gm 3 TBD @ TBD Fri Oct. 6 TBA TBA Gm 4* TBD @ TBD Sat Oct. 7 TBA TBA Gm 5* TBD @ TBD Sun Oct. 8 TBA TBA * - if necessary NLDS B Game Matchup Day Date Time TV Gm 1 TBD @ TBD Wed Oct. 4 TBA TBA Gm 2 TBD @ TBD Thu Oct. 5 TBA TBA Gm 3 TBD @ TBD Sat Oct. 7 TBA TBA Gm 4* TBD @ TBD Sun Oct. 8 TBA TBA Gm 5* TBD @ TBD Mon Oct. 9 TBA TBA your right for the first round. but i think eventualy it becomes every other day. i like our 4th starter probably more than any other 4th starter in the league, so this is a good thing. JickBoy34 09-26-2006, 04:01 PM I'd go Bondo/Rogers/Verlander/Nate WTFchris 09-26-2006, 07:19 PM I think he will be able to set the roation how he wants to. We are basically up 2 (with the tiebreaker) and have 6 games against junk teams. Even with minor and Ladezma starting we should win 4 of those no problem. I agree with Barbaro's lineups BTW. Vinny 09-26-2006, 07:57 PM Toronto's by no means a junk team so be careful there. I could see Barbaro's rotation very easily but I also think they'd LOVE to sandwich Rogers between Bondo and Verlander so that wouldn't shock me. I think they probably go with a 4 man but if not I'd bet on Robertson or even Verlander getting pulled over Bonderman. Vinny 09-26-2006, 08:04 PM Verlander's getting shut down now supposedly so we'll see. Glenn 09-27-2006, 02:08 PM Anybody know who is starting the remaining regular season games? Earlier today, Yahoo had Andrew Miller starting on Sunday, but now they list Ledezma for both Friday & Saturday. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/det/schedule?v=list&m=09&y=2006 They also still have Bondo for the last game of the season, but if you listen to Leyland, he's probably done until the playoffs just like Verlander. It would be interesting to see Miller get a start. Also, the Twins have named Santana as their game 1 pitcher and Bonser for game 2, so you see that they have placed a priority on the playoff rotation over winning the division (Leyland has said the same thing). Also of note is Brad Radke is coming off the DL to pitch tomorrow night, in what is a huge game for both the Twins and for Radke's career. Glenn 09-27-2006, 04:37 PM I'm guessing that they'll throw Zach Miner out there if/when they clinch the division. WTFchris 09-28-2006, 07:45 PM I think Miner and Miller get the starts and they pick the remaining playoff pitcher based on their showings. Glenn 10-02-2006, 08:12 AM Robertson Verlander Rogers That's what has been announced so far at least. I know that Kenny's had an amazing year, but I have very little faith in him (same for Jones) now that it's playoff time. Fool 10-07-2006, 09:53 PM Good call about Rogers and Jones.
