View Full Version : ABC's miniseries "The Path to 9/11" being protested
Glenn 09-08-2006, 02:00 PM Dear MoveOn member,
In a little over 48 hours, ABC will air a five-hour "docudrama" on the 9/11 attacks. The movie was written and produced by a right-wing activist who fabricated key scenes to blame Democrats and defend Republicans.1 It's so partisan that even Rush Limbaugh was surprised ABC decided to air it.2 And an FBI agent who was brought in to consult on the docudrama quit because, he said, "they were making things up."3
Public outrage is mounting across the country, and Variety reports that ABC is now "mulling the idea of yanking the mini altogether."4 But we only have a little time to act. We'll start delivering this petition to ABC headquarters tomorrow at noon and continue as more signatures come in. So we're looking for 200,000 signatures TODAY.

The Path to 9/11 appears to be part of a coordinated push—including speeches by President Bush and millions of dollars in advertising—to exploit the five-year anniversary of 9/11 for political gain. That's not acceptable from anyone—especially not a news organization like ABC.
It's not just that ABC's movie is slanted. Big parts of it are simply untrue. The producer himself even admitted to simply improvising a key scene which depicts the Clinton administration letting bin Laden go when they had him in their sights—a complete fabrication.5 Last night, the movie's star, Harvey Keitel, said "It turned out not all the facts were correct."6
It's really pretty simple: ABC shouldn't have any role in the political exploitation of 9/11. But this docudrama is designed to do just that—spreading a false message to millions of viewers across the country.
Sign the petition to tell ABC not to air partisan propaganda on 9/11. Click here: http://pol.moveon.org/abcdoc?id=8709-3137850-CJo9lra.brmynJW1RQVrIQ&t=5

Moveon.org, credible as always, throwing out blatent lies.
im not going to backup moveon.org as a whole, but everything they said in that article is true according to cnn, fox news, nightly news, and the people involved in the situations that abc is trying to depict in their movie. its pretty much fact that the abc movie is full of garbage, do your research first cruscott before trying to knock stuff down. this movie has gained a lot of hype due to the fact that it is soooo far off the mark, and i signed the petition to stop it from being aired because people who are less educated on the subject will assume its true. in a world of lightning-quick misinformation we dont need more inaccurate 'reporting' to aid the ignorant.

How surprising. If you can't dispute the message, attack the messenger.
Go ahead and point out the lies for us please.
Uncle Mxy 09-09-2006, 10:45 PM Note that The Path To 9/11 is supposedly being "re-edited", so what appears on TV might not be quite what the initial reviewers saw.
I'm not losing much sleep over it. I'm just hoping it's not pre-empted because bad guys decided to do something to us to celebrate the 5th anniversary.

our gov's false flag operations department arent dumb enough to help a 5th anniversary event happen, everything will be fine on 9/11/06.
Uncle Mxy 09-10-2006, 01:39 PM It doesn't have to be much. Osama simply sends a letter via Al-Jazeera wishing us well on the 5th anniversary, and the country will go on apeshit high alert.
At this very moment, I'm dealing with a non-Middle-Eastern foreigner buddy who was delayed on their flight (who I was otherwise supposed to pick up at the airport about now) owing to heightened 9/11 anniversary paranoia.

Except for the part that I bolded...The screenwriter is not a republican, nor is he a part of the conservative movement, and has written very liberal movies too.
And to the petition signer, did you do that for Ferienhiet 9/11 too? No, you didn't.

just because hes not republican or conservative doesnt mean he cant write lies. and no i didnt sign a petition against fahrenheit 911, that wasnt aired on network television and i wasnt presented with a petition for it.

No offense, but you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Cyrus Nowrasteh is a well-known Neocon. Read this and then we can continue the discussion. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/max-blumenthal/discover-the-secret-right_b_29015.html
Seriously, read it, don't just try to come back with an attack on the source.

Moore's film also was not marketed as being "Based on the 9/11 Commission Report" (which is a joke), and he largely used real footage, not actors. Monumental difference there, friend.

Cyrus Nowrasteh is a conservative, in his own words. This is an interview with him from the conservative film festival he was part of a year ago (well before the recent controversy):

cruscott35 09-19-2006, 11:47 AM Well, I heard an interview on the radio where he said he wasn't republican, if he's going to lie about it, then fine...
As far as which one is worse, this or Moore's Lions that he put on film, easily Moore's, his "documentary" using real people and real quotes makes everything look more 'official'.
Uncle Mxy 09-20-2006, 08:59 AM One could be conservative and not necessarily be Republican, especially in today's age. I don't get how an imperialistic stance in foreign affairs while overspending like a drunken sailor is especially conservative, either in the "traditional" or "measured" uses of the term. I "get" conservatism in a Barry Goldwater sense, but not a neo-con one.

I agree fully, that's why I always tell people that I'm conservative before republican...And I for one hate Bush's spending habits.

One thing we agree on.
I am (somewhat) fiscally conservative. But pretty socially liberal.
Unfortunately, there is no party that is fiscally conservative today, so I root for the social issues.
