View Full Version : OGT: Idaho @ Michigan State
Jethro34 08-31-2006, 02:46 PM Noon Saturday.
Idaho was horrible last year, finishing 2-9 while allowing 419 points.
Spartans will roll.
Prediction: MSU 52, Idaho 13.
MoTown 08-31-2006, 03:39 PM I don't know about the rest of the Michigan fans, but I'm rooting for Stanton. I'm hoping he wins the Heisman and only plays one bad game (about 40 miles away from Lansing).
Glenn 08-31-2006, 03:41 PM What's the over/under on potatoes thrown onto the field?
Darth Thanatos 08-31-2006, 03:43 PM Shouldn't a Spartan fan make this thread?
DennyMcLain 08-31-2006, 08:17 PM MSU rolls in first quarter, until snipers with potato guns start picking off MSU players.
Prediction: MSU 27, Idaho 17, MSU 13 concussions....

"Cauze ol' Idaho Jeb said so."
Spartans have lost openers to bad teams before such as Rutgers. So I won't overlook anyone but since State only sucks following the 1st qtr of the Michigan game till the end of the season, I say they kill Idaho 62-7.
How great would it be to actually have Stanton live up to the hype? Not a lot of Spartans are capable of that, recent history show us Jack (aka Smoke) and Coke (aka Fire) couldn't, so I can only hope Stanton can.
Baker 09-01-2006, 01:19 PM Stanton already lived up to the hype. He's coming into this season as one of the Top 3 Quarterbacks in the country. He wasn't even close to the Top 3 QBs coming out of high school.
Last season he was averaging 300 yds a game passing after playing against Notre Dame, Michigan, and Ohio State. That average didn't drop until he broke his thumb on his throwing hand the following week.
Stanton doesn't have to live up to hype. He just has to be himself. He's more than capable of leading any team to any Championship. His only problem is that his defense has nearly destroyed his entire career and any hopes he had of accomplishing team oriented goals. Let's hope his defense can come through for him in his last year so that he can prove just how great he is.
Idaho hired Dennis Erickson. This won't be your average horrible opener. Dennis Erickson won two National Championships and he taught John L. the spread offense while John L. was coaching under him. Even if State looks far better than Idaho, Idaho will be decent with the spread and John L. will not want to run up a score on one of his closest coaching friends.
44-20 Spartans
He's more than capable of leading any team to any Championship.
Wow, I hope he doesn't have to live up to that hype.
Baker 09-01-2006, 03:12 PM That didn't come out quite right. What I meant was, he is a Championship type of quarterback. He's capable of carrying a team to a Championship if given some support.
Not any team, because nobody could have carried that whack ass defense to a title last year.
I wasn't questioning the fact of his ability vs where he was projected coming out of HS. By far he has exceeded expectations, what I was talking about is, as Michigan State fan everytime I get excited about a guy, and the media talks about heisman or top pick potential it seems like something happens that makes the person seem like they failed miserably because of pressure or hype.
I am just sick of the starting off like a national championship team and fading into the distance. I just want the same productive QB game one as in game 11.
Ugly Ugly Ugly. The Michigan State Defense was awful. The D was on top of every play but seemed to lack instincts and tried to make bigger things happen, such instead of knocking the ball down going for the pick and overplaying the play then letting the WR get by. The false rush recognition was terrible, State bit on every screen and delay and over pursued way too much. Lastly the D was fairly poor at tackling and allowed way to many key downs get turned into first downs.
Discovery 09-03-2006, 10:02 AM Shakey performance by Sparty today. But, a win is a win. The defense needs to get better if they want to compete with Notre Dame and in the Big 10. Stanton looked good and I like the number of options they have at RB and receiver, but they will have a hard time competing against the elite teams.
Jethro34 09-05-2006, 04:27 PM I caught crap for starting this thread, so I'll let the Spartan mod or a global unsticky it and start the next thread for the big EMU game.
