View Full Version : Would you accept Artest as a Piston?

It's been nearly two years since the brawl. Would you accept Ron Artest if he came to Detroit and put on a Pistons uni?

- Artest has proven that he can be one of the league's elite when he is kept in check.
- The player who the Pistons fans defended the most with the incident, Benedict Wallace, decided to leave for a couple extra pennies.
- Artest was in Detroit, and reports say he got along extremely well with Detroiters, showing that they were forgiving and treated him very well.
- He epitomizes Defense and hard work, which is exactly what Detroiters love about basketball.
- Who wouldn't want to see Artest vs. Wallace, Pistons vs. Bulls?
- He's 26.

p.s. This isn't a trade thread for Artest. I know a trade wouldn't work with the cap and we don't have the pieces to trade for him. This is just a "Would you accept him" thread. So don't give me the "numbers" breakdown or any of that bullshit - that would make you a dildo.

Yes. I don't give a shit about the brawl. Of course, he cracks under any sort of pressure so that team would drop in the playoffs like ... well like last year's Pistons but I'd "accept" him.

I dont think I could put up with his general stupidity. The last thing this team needs is a headcase.

But I love his game and dont actually hate him (anymore). To be honest, there's a certain goofiness to him and the out-there comments he says now that's kind of funny and semi-likeable.

well, if Joe D pulled the trigger and he was a Piston, i'd have no choice but to accept him. Artest has done some bonehead things, but he hasn't done anything horrible wrong off the court, to hate him. i'd root for him, but i'd be praying everyday that he doesn't snap.....especially in the playoffs, like Fool mentioned.

i don't think anyone doubts his talent.

we should, however, consider changing the team name to the bizarro-Pistons if Artest was ever a Piston[smilie=stars.gif]

One thing to consider would be if he every was a Piston, and we still had Rasheed, would we turn into JailBlazers East? Sheed could relapse instantly with a bad seed like that on this team.

Rasheed and Artest would make a hell of a tag-team in the WWE....

Not if we trade Rasheed so we can sign Billups to the max and still keep Will Blalock.

i agree with Glenn and Uncle Mxy. as a cowboys fan i already have TO on my mind, i wouldnt need artest too. its not just about the brawl anymore, he has done dumb shit off the court too. wanting to take time off to promote his record label, saying stupid stuff to kids, basically saying stupid stuff anytime he opens his mouth.

Ron would make a great Piston. Trade Tay.

Only if we got Brad Miller in exchange for Sheed too!

Get the fuck outta here with this question.

I'm deadly serious. Did the Bulls win titles with Rodman because they were worried he was a suicidal cross dresser?

Hell no.

Tay is great. Ron is greater. Crazy as Taymelo at a Hezbollah Weekend Retreat, but still the greater SF.

When you put it that way, it's intriguing. However, the bulls had one of the strongest personalities ever to rule a lockerroom in MJ. He could step up and say "Oh that's just Dennis being Dennis" and that was the end of it. We don't have that kind of guy in detroit.

You people kill me with the goddamn Artest vs. Rodman comparisons. Rodman was "wacky". Artest is certifiable. Rodman never managed to single handedly destroy a team, he was just an attention whore. Not to mention Artest is one of the most overrated motherfuckers in the league.

No shit... two posts in one day by -Q-. Does this mean you are back for a while, or did you just find this an intriguing topic?

It means I'm out on vacation, so I have some actual free time.

Also, I REALLY hate that piece of shit Artest.

I'd only want Brad Miller as a Piston if Arnie Kander could keep him healthy. The thing that Rasheed did last year, where he got injured and worn out at the end of the season, is something Brad does every year.

LOL @ calling Rodman "wacky".

No doubt.

Rodman wasn't wacky. He demanded a trade (that set us back). We still had Zeke, Lambs and Joe D. Maybe not title contenders, but a decent team that could have rebuilt around him and Joe D.

I love how Rodman gets a pass for going ballistic on his coach, sulking, his suicide/attention episode in the Palace parking lot, and folks can't bone up to admit that RonRon has more game than Blossom.

Btw, I love Worm, warts and all. That's why Ron would make a great Piston. He's Rodman and Mike Tyson wrapped up in one. I like Bad Boys. Not Metrosexual Euro MVP girls.

Rodman didn't try to physically assault our fans on national teevee.

Note that Rodman was 32 and JD was 30 at that point... not exactly what you'd call "rebuilding" age.

Once Chuck Daly left, it was over for Rodman in Detroit.

Rodman grabbed almost half of his career rebounds AFTER he left Detroit!

I hate Shawn Elliott.
You my man.

Oh yeah, it's easy to guess his durability in hindsight, but when you think "rebuild", you don't generally "thirtysomething wing players", that's all.

Without a good coach, his distraction elements would've overshadowed the value of his play, as what happened with the Spurs. Rodman missed a lot of games with us and the Spurs because he was basically a head case. After Daly left, we would've needed a master head doctor like Phil Jackson to get the best out of him, but we got Ron Rothstein and Don Chaney instead.
