FillyCheezeSteak 08-14-2006, 08:19 AM 2 quick questions Tre?
1) Where did this come from?
2) Do you know what the #2 most played "voice clip" on all of sports radio is (hint: #1 is the cat who ran for President doing his "HAAAAA" with the Tiger Woods arm swing) (hint: the #2 clip is of a coach and it involves a big time rant.)
Baker 08-14-2006, 12:37 PM Go to CBSsportsline.com and click on college fball. There is a monster article about college football this year, that post was just a small section of it.
FillyCheezeSteak 08-14-2006, 11:14 PM Tre, I'll help ya out with my second question. I'm assuming you don't listen to Jim Rome too often or else this would've been a super easy question to answer. Do you remember a certain college football coach that coaches a team that wears Green & White having a "major animated meltdown" after a momentum changing blocked field goal and subsequent return for a touchdown against a school with the initials of tO$U. This specific clip gets played regularly and I'm not saying that Lloyd doesn't rant or bitch, but at least he doesn't get laughed at on a national level as bad as everyone's favorite Batman character.

LOL. "The players are playing their butts off and the coaches are SCREWING IT UP!!!!"
Jethro34 08-15-2006, 07:47 AM And John L. doesn't even have to rant as much, because questionable calls aren't hurting the team's expectations. Sure, Carr rants. 80% of the time the guys in the booth are on national/regional TV agreeing with him that he should be ranting. But at least his rants are fighting for a call for a team that should be in the top 10 pretty much all the time.
So here's mine:
In: State being blown out by 5 scores at halftime against O$U.
Out: John L rants because they just screwed up a play and killed most of their lead.
Baker 08-15-2006, 09:37 PM Filly, I didn't answer your question because I wasn't sure if you were referring to Lloyd Carr's asshole halftime interview during the OSU game a couple of years ago or John L. blasting his special teams coach. Carr doesn't get ripped?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW, that is so untrue. He got blasted nationally for his halftime rant. I specifically remember it being talked about on PTI two days in a row. I had UM fans admit to me that they were embarrassed by that interview.
I felt John L's rant because he was totally right. His special teams coach was an absolute idiot and I was as pissed as he was. They were completely dominating OSU.
Jethro, that was a retarded post for several reasons. 1) You didn't even see Carr's OSU rant (why weren't you watching the game?) 2) The guys in the booth are agreeing with Carr 80% of the time? Are you talking about the UM radio announcers? Wow, that comment was completely untrue. The douche bag is known for being a cry baby and CBS pointed it out. 3) MSU dominated OSU last year, and yes the Special Teams coach did blow the game. I believe UM has been owned by OSU since Mr. Tressel came into town. So I wouldn't be so lippy.
Looks like UM fans aren't going to let the good discussion board happen this year.
Jethro34 08-15-2006, 10:18 PM First of all, are you really making your argument based on a game from 4 years ago? Is that the only evidence you have?
Second, I'm talking about whoever is doing the Big Ten games for ESPN plus, or the national guys if it's a national game.
Example - even Gene Wojcheihowski, in writing an article a week ago about Carr and how he's been too conservative with the program admitted that Carr had every right to go off about the Nebraska game, something that conference looked into and something that EVERYONE nationally admits was a blown game that Michigan deserved to win. I think CBS is referring to THAT game (maybe writers actually talk about the most recent game instead of going back 4 years to write a current article). Yes, Carr does rant quite a bit. More than any other coach in the country? Possibly. Fact of the matter is Michigan games tend to mean a lot more than most other programs, so it gets recognized more. Smith could rant 5 times as much and a ton of people would never know because nationally State games don't mean anything after mid-October.
Look, both sides are twisting the argument here, admitted. But don't pretend that Michigan fans aren't letting real conversation happen. If you want to throw jabs at Michigan and say it's real conversation, but it ends when we reply - that's even more retarded than you claim my post is.
Baker 08-16-2006, 02:14 AM haha, CBS makes fun of Lloyd Carr for being a crybaby and you try to claim its all because of one game. Wilbon rips Carr for being a crybaby and it's probably because he's a NW alum. You've got more excuses than crybaby Carr himself. Your UM arrogance was gleaming in that post. People notice Lloyd Carr's rants more because UM's game mean more than anyone elses?! haha LOL I haven't heard anyone ripping Weis, Tressel, Saban, etc. about crying too much and I see them on TV all the time. Fact is, Carr is a crybaby. Relax. He's done more than any MSU football coach. I'm just saying he's a crybaby. I don't think you disagree, i just think your being defensive because he's your coach.
If somebody says John L. is a loony wildman that needs to get to a damn bowl, I'm not gonna argue it.
Filly, I forgot to mention this before. Don't make shit up. The most nationally played sound bite? Where the hell did you get that stat? Soundbites.com? I think Iverson's practice, Mora's playoffs, and J Dubs "homeboy" sound bite might have been played a little more. Don't make stuff up to make a point.
Baker 08-16-2006, 02:16 AM By the way Jethro, if you look above, you'll see that all I said was that I thought one part was funny. I didn't rip anybody, just thought it was funny. The Wolves here went into a rant about it.
