Derrick Thomas, he was my favorite player growing up, and he was a helluva LB.

LC Greenwood one of the most dominant DL player's is the 70's

Donnie Shell, on the NFL silver anniversary team, when he retired he was viewed as the greatest SS to ever play the game, was also the all time career leader in INT's for SS.

Alex Karras Lions DT he was dominant in a time when defense ruled the lansdscape and to be dominant was to be legendary during that period because so many greats played then. He was a pro bowl player 4 times which was no small accomplishment for that period of time. If not for being a controversial player he would be in the HOF, his gambling and ownership in the Lindell AC hurt his image, and his credibility. Also his rocky relationship with the Ford's has done little to keep him in the minds of football fans, since he has not been at any Lions reunions or old timers honorings. He has never been asked to be a honorary captain.

art def should be in.

madden should never be in because he is the stupidest commentator of all time. 'see he outran the defender because he could run faster. his ability to put one foot in front of the other faster than the defender, is what allowed him to outrun the defender'. nuff said.

michael irvin should be in. im a huge cowboy fan, but thats not a fan vote. he was the man in his time, and some drug charges shouldnt keep him out.

maybe, maybe not. he had a decent stretch for a couple years. but never maintained a high level through his career. hard to say. its the fact that he never really excelled consistently that hurts him.

yes and other commentators make great points. he's no more silly than randy cross, dan dierdorf, and quite a few announcers. he's by far more entertaining than any announcer, which is why he rose ahead of them. Its color commentating and he adds more color than most.

But yes he should be in because none of the coaches in there ahead of him could pull off a winning record against him. Including your boy Tom Landry of the cowboys. Not to mention he averaged 11 wins per season back when it was 14 game schedules and got to 100 wins quicker than anyone.. Jerry Jones was graceful enough to respect him on that alone. I guess not everyone can follow his lead. Just like Al Davis and Madden can give props to the cowboy O-Lineman who was elected in. :)

so john madden is too annoying to deserve it and crackpipe irvin's commentary isnt? Dude was sucking off TO during his baby fit with the eagles, almost got kicked off espn because of an incident where cops found drugs in his ride, and has always been a classless dickhead. if they can keep carson of the giants out because of his attitude for as long as they did before this year and madden had to wait 27 years, dont be surprised if irvin is waiting for a long while. most writers who have a hand in picking for the HOF dont really like Irvin. So he just better not O.D. on us over the next couple decades.[smilie=burgerking.:
