depending on what you were expecting, this is either a huge or minor deal.

he would have been a lock for #1 if it werent for his signability problems, which are now gone.

dombrowski is officially the #1 gm in town. if his two rings (it should be two), dont prove it, its turning the worst franchise in sports into one of the best (in 5 years) should.

booyah!

Hell yeah. I was afraid this might not get done till Christmas. He could get some rookie ball in this year, maybe some A ball and the Arizona Fall League for sure. This is huge, if he's as ready as they say he is, this might mean he's up by next September.

Off to the Whitecaps ticket window.

(baseball prospects, especially "cant miss" ones in awful talent years, are always scary.....ah fuck it"

WOOT!

Hellz yeah, this is good news. Tiger pitching has a chance to be absolutely dominant in a couple years if we keep guys healthy and signed. Bonderman, Verlander, Miner/Robertson/Maroth, Sanchez, Miller.

Sick (hopefully).

Good news. If Sanchez and Miller could be Verlander like in a couple years, just imagine how good we'd be. Bonderman, Verlander, Sanchez and Miller. Yikes! If even one of them pans out you still have Minor, Maroth and Robertson.

Miller signs, will join Tigers in September
DETROIT -- Andrew Miller signed with the Tigers today, and he'll see you in September.

The Tigers signed their first-round pick to a major-league deal worth a guaranteed $5.4 million, and said he'll be with the big-league team in September, pitching out of the bullpen.

Miller will report to Lakeland Monday, and when he's ready, he'll make his pro debut in the Class A Florida State League. He's expected to join the Tigers as a September callup.

Wow, that's incredible. I guess he did pitch a lot in college.

I don't like the idea of immediately throwing him to the wolves and would rather wait another year, but I'm not a GM so whatever. I'm just glad we were able to sign him so quickly.

No reason to wait. None.

The fact is that he probably had something put into his contract about being on the 40 man roster. If that's true, and there is no place else for him to pitch in September because the minor league seasons have ended, might as well get his feet wet.

He signed quicker than I expected. But then again, Miller was the only Top 10 pick left to sign after the Royals signed Hochevar.

But I am not too sure if having him pitch in September is such a good idea. Didn't really turn out all that well with Baugh.
