Highlights of the Pistons home schedule include the only meeting between Shaquille O’Neal, Dwyane Wade and the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat on April 1, two home meetings against Eastern Conference rivals LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers (March 7 and April 8) and single-game match-ups with the Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks (March 18) and high-powered Phoenix Suns (December 31). Ben Wallace makes his return to The Palace of Auburn Hills when the Chicago Bulls come to town on February 25 and April 4 while Central Division rival Indiana visits twice on December 29 and January 28. The Pistons have one five-game homestand, the longest of the season, from February 6 through February 14. The Boston Celtics visit the Palace on Tuesday, February 6 (7:30 p.m.), followed by Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers (February 8), Chris Bosh and the Toronto Raptors (Feburary 10), Elton Brand and the L.A. Clippers (February 12) and Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs (February 14). Detroit will play eight of its 11 games during the month of February at home. “We’re excited about the 2006-07 NBA schedule and pleased that our fans can enjoy 22 weekend or holiday home games,” said Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars. “With 30 national television appearances, Pistons basketball will be well represented throughout the NBA regular-season.” The Pistons will make five national appearances on ABC, including two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, February 4 (2:30 p.m.) and Sunday, April 8 (1:00 p.m.). Other match-ups on ABC include games with Chicago (2/25), Dallas (3/18) and Miami (4/1). The club plays 10 nationally televised games on ESPN [at Sacramento (11/8), at L.A. Lakers (11/10), vs. Washington (11/17), at Minnesota (1/19), vs. Indiana (1/28), vs. Milwaukee (2/2), at Miami (3/2), vs. New Jersey (3/30), vs. Chicago (4/4) and vs. Orlando (4/11)] and six nationally televised games on TNT [at Miami (11/30), at Dallas (12/7), at Cleveland (12/21), at New Orleans/Oklahoma City (1/4), vs. L.A. Lakers (2/8) and at Chicago (3/29)]. The Pistons will make nine appearances on NBA TV. Detroit’s local television schedule on TV20 and FSN Detroit will be announced at a later date. Detroit will play 22 sets of back-to-back games this season. Six of their back-to-back sets fall on the road, 11 begin on the road and conclude at home, four are home-and-away back-to-backs and one is a home-and-home back-to-back.
