i saw something interesting on pbs at ~3am last night. a sit down interview of joe dumars by emery king. it didnt say the date, but it had to be sometime last summer after larry brown left.

anyone else see it? it wasnt a typical sports interview, but there was a lot they touched on.

race... joe's surprised by how segregated michigan is. also, when asked about only white owners, joe immidiatly talked about how greatful he was that davidson took a chance on joe to run his franchise (kind of a strange segue, but it made sense), which brought the interview to:

loyalty... after seeing that interview, i'd bet my life joe never gm's another team. i'd also say that joe is in complete control of the team. i wouldnt even be surprised if the 'no tax' idea was joe's, not bill's (this was tough because joe contradicted himself, he said he was in complete control, but then hinted--maybe unintentionally--that davidson was a big part of carlisle and brown's departures. but it was obvious that joe is fiercely loyal to BD, and it wouldnt surprise me if joe was trying to run the pistons to make them as profitable as possible.

he talked about a few other things, he seems to be friendly with isiah still. but his relationship with davidson was by far the most interesting thing, imo.

From reading the opinions on here it would appear to an outsider that Wilson has Davidson's ear more than Joe.

Is that perception accurate?

I watched it, he talked about his childhood and his dad and shit like that. It was good.

And what about his childhood/dad/shit like that?

Some of us don't get to see these interviews.

Can I get a decent Recap or not?

I don't have time to chase this now, but...

I'd look for Kingberry Productions and documentaries available via libraries in Michigan. The few words I've Google'd for about Emery King suggest that his documentaries might be available there. Most of what I've found is about a Rosa Parks thing he did, though, but I have no idea of how his work would be bundled or not. Maybe the local PBS channel you watched that through has some pointers about that timeslot?
