View Full Version : Alvin Williams? DrRay11 07-26-2006, 11:40 AM He was bought out and released by the Raptors. Any interest? Glenn 07-26-2006, 11:49 AM If his knee is sound, he'd certainly be a better #2 PG than Lindsey, IMO. Zekyl 07-26-2006, 11:50 AM He was bought out and released by the Raptors. Any interest? Maybe they just released him because of his injury. He may not be able to play anymore or something. He's only played 1 game in the last 2 years. If he's healthy again and we can get him to play anything close to what he was doing a few years ago, then I'd be all for it. Pharaoh 07-26-2006, 11:52 AM IIRC the guy's knee is cooked. He can't play at all. Higherwarrior 07-26-2006, 01:27 PM 4 years ago, maybe. now...no thanks. Glenn 07-27-2006, 09:11 AM Looks like he vants to play... http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1153950611065&call_pageid=969907729483&col=970081562040 The NBA has only gotten faster since Williams last played regularly. His strength — muscling smaller point guards with his 6-foot-5 frame —has become basically illegal in the no-touch era. But yesterday he said just what you expected him to say: that he wants to attend an NBA training camp and make a club. "This is the only thing, other than my family, that I have a passion for and I love. And I'd give my life for it." Dice part Deux? giffman 07-27-2006, 09:14 AM Looks like he vants to play... http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1153950611065&call_pageid=969907729483&col=970081562040 The NBA has only gotten faster since Williams last played regularly. Glenn 07-27-2006, 09:17 AM I think you missed the joke in your absence. giffman 07-27-2006, 09:20 AM I think you missed the joke in your absence. Do tell . . . Glenn 07-27-2006, 09:24 AM "Joe never once asked me to play Darko," Brown said. "We were trying to win a championship. It's not like Darko can't play, I've been reading his comments. He was saying the same thing he said to me (speaking in a European accent), 'I just vant to play.'" Pharaoh 07-27-2006, 10:49 AM Alvin Williams might "vant" to play but his knee is fucked and the game has changed. From memory he was never a quality 3-point shooter and with his knee his lateral quickness probably isn't there, so he can't really play a "specialist" role And if we're going to sign a guard named Williams, that's also coming off an injury why not sign Jay Williams? At least he's younger. Zekyl 07-27-2006, 01:05 PM And if we're going to sign a guard named Williams, that's also coming off an injury why not sign Jay Williams? At least he's younger. I couldn't agree more! He's a young guy that was supposed to become a star that's coming off an injury. He's out there looking to prove himself, and no one works harder than an athelete trying to prove he's as good as he used to be. It seems like everyone's just forgotten about him. At the very least, we have a roster spot open, invite him to camp! I'd love to see him come back and revitalize his career in detroit, a la McDyess.[smilie=reporter.gi: giffman 07-27-2006, 01:48 PM Alvin Williams might "vant" to play but his knee is fucked and the game has changed. If we are bringing on a Williams who stinks at basketball, I'm voting for Vanessa. defrocked 07-27-2006, 02:49 PM And if we're going to sign a guard named Williams, that's also coming off an injury why not sign Jay Williams? I have a hard time believing all those teams, who are in need of a PG, are passing on him if he has much of anything at this point. |
