View Full Version : Is Joe done? (posted before Dupree was signed)
Glenn 07-17-2006, 02:06 PM I'm not so sure.
Could another trade be in the works? (Davis? Sheed? Delfino?)
Could we sign another PG at the league minimum (Pargo?)
Any chance that ANYONE wants to acquire Cato in a S&T?

Glenn 07-17-2006, 02:10 PM ^that's not very fun
I'm holding out hope that they have told Cato to go out and find his best deal, and that deal is higher than someone's BAE and lower than their MLE. That's about the only shot we have at making a S&T, IMO. Now, would Billy D take on another salary? That's another question.

Joe Asberry 07-17-2006, 02:18 PM i'm still hoping for a Dale + our '08 first round pick for Brevin Knight deal, i cant imagine going into the season with Lindsey beeing our primary and only backup PG, Blalock has shown nothing in the SL...all the talk about adjusting to the new NBA style and having Lindsey playing major minutes just doesnt seem right to me...

I think this place would implode.
All the Delfino fans would have aneurisms.
KVH has to be able to at least get someone's BAE, right?

fwiw, mccosky seems to hint that Flip M will play back up 1/2:
But the Pistons feel Murray can be the proven scorer off the bench they have been looking for. He can play both guard positions, but more importantly, he has the ability to get to the basket and make plays off the dribble -- something the Pistons sorely lacked since Mike James and Chucky Atkins departed in 2004.
...
Mohammed will likely replace Ben Wallace in the starting lineup, and the primary bench rotation will include Antonio McDyess, Murray, Carlos Delfino and Lindsey Hunter. McDyess and Murray will likely play starter's minutes, close to 30 per game.

My guess is Joe will let the dust settle, then come Sept if there is a deal to be made, he will make the deal then like the Stack deal.

Darth Thanatos 07-17-2006, 02:33 PM Apparently not.
Ronald Dupree Part III

Here's a list of guys that fit that criteria. Note that most of them are not expiring, which means if we are in penny pinching mode that they're likely out.
Lue (3.7m)
Brevin (4.4m)
Boykins (2.9m)
Alston (4.2m, and a lot of years)
Anthony Johnson (2.9m, where's BigDT?)
D.Stoudamire (4.1m)
McInnis (3.6m, expiring, got kicked off the team by NJ)
Dixon (2.7m)
Calderon (2.4m)
Arroyo (4.2m)
^that last one was a joke
Do you guys think that we could S&T Cato and send him along with a pick for any of those guys? Would you want to?
I know this is improbable, but it's possible, especially if we're willing to part with a pick.
More likely would be Joe signing Howard Eisely to the vet's minimum after he clears waivers.

Two year deal no less. I wonder who makes the last few spots now, not enough room for everybody, is there?
Kstat 07-17-2006, 02:53 PM Delfino is either our new backup PG, or he's being shipped out for someone who will be.
Neither would surprise me.
Glenn 07-17-2006, 02:56 PM I can't believe this, I thought you guys were joking.
Another well timed thread.
edit: typo
Kstat 07-17-2006, 02:58 PM Oh, and bye bye Acker.
That makes the 4th guy on our roster that can play the 2. Acker won't make the team.

Dupree doesn't count as an "acquisition". He's more like the dude that just somehow shows up to the party. Do ten day contracts count as "doing something" too?

notreally
Pharaoh 07-18-2006, 11:22 AM With Dupree, Acker and Blalock we'd have 15 players on the roster.
But we still need a back-up PG.
It looks like The Acker Experiment failed, so he's out.
Murray can't run an offense at all IMO.
And Blalock is NBDL material at the moment.
Either Delfino plays some PG or he's traded for someone who can.
Problem is he doesn't make much (around $1 million) so we're unlikely to get anything decent. If Joe can someone swing a trade for a decent back-up PG, using only Delfino I'll be very surprised.
Glenn 07-18-2006, 12:27 PM Not sure if we cleared this up the other day or not.
Can a trade exception be moved along with Delfino?
No a trade exception cannot be sent along with another player contract from your team because TEs are non-simultaneous trades.
Non-simultaneous trades can only include one player from your team leaving to go to another team. That one player is the player for whom you get the trade exception for. Thus, if you try to send someone else off with that TE it violates the rules for non-simultaneous trades.
