If we decide to use it, that is.

I'm not saying that I like all of these guys, but here are some potential candidates for the Pistons BAE.

Jannero Pargo (UFA)
Rasual Butler (UFA)
Qyntel Woods (UFA)
Darrell Armstrong (UFA)
Tony Delk (UFA)
Calbert Cheaney (UFA)
Richie Frahm (UFA)
Eddie Gill (UFA)
Chucky Atkins (UFA)
Milt Palacio (UFA)
David Wesley (UFA) (Cleveland?)
Jim Jackson (UFA)

Others? Thoughts?

For the record:

The BAE comes with a guaranteed 2-year deal starting at $1,750,000.

I could be convinced to give Rasual Butler the BAE but everyone else on that list is a waste of money.

The rest are minimum wage earners (it's insane that the minimum for a guy like Jim Jackson was $1,100,000 last season)

So there's nobody else that you would (realistically) extend the BAE to other than Butler?

(I'm not going to let you just get away bashing my list, you're going to have to work some on your own)

edit: also, how did the Lakers give their BAE to Shammond for only 1 year?

I have no idea how the Lakers did that, and I believe I asked that question in the thread.

And there is nothing wrong with the list. Some of those guys could come in handy considering our roster. (kill me now j/k)

Someone used to have a hard-on for Pargo (can't remember who).

Delk proved himself in our system last season.

The vets (Amrstrong, Jackson, Wesley and Chucky) are all capable.

Woods is all potential.

I just don't think any of them are worth using the BAE on (except maybe Butler), especially when you consider that IF we use it this off-season we don't get it next off-season.

There is no disputing that (unlike the 2-year thing)

Considering the free agent class of 2007 and the amount of teams over the cap and near the tax threshold I'm gonna guess that using the BAE next off-season is a better move.

EDIT: I was gonna explain in the other post but was too lazy.

Oddly enough, I was the one that had Pargomania.

I thought maybe that the Lakers 1 year BAE was just misreported, but it looks legit as far as I can tell.

As weak as that list is, this FA class has been probably the weakest that I can remember, so some of those guys are probably going to get BAE deals from somebody.

Like you said, at this point it's probably a choice whether or not we use it this year or next. The bench is looking pretty thin for this year, so I'm not sure that holding onto it for next year is the best way to go, especially if Joe still thinks we're contenders (regardless of what some here think).

Per Larry Coon's FAQ: It may be split and given to more than one player, and can be used to sign players for up to two years, with raises limited to 8%.

use it if joe can find 'his guy'. dont use it just to use it. ie, dont sign Mo evans, just to create a log jam. and especially dont turn around and trade Mo evans when the other half of the logjam also wants out.

not to hijak the thread.

I'm still thinking we should use it regardless, so if nothing else we have another tradeable salary.

it depends, we might be shedding contracts like mad men to get the space to sign chauncy next summer. another 2 million might make the difference.

and while i would typically agree with adding more salary as an assett, im not sure ownership would.

It'll be Milt or Chucky. Joe will bring in another PG but there is not a chance in hell we add a SG/SF while el Fino's vagina is so jam packed with sand.

Another well-timed thread by yours truly.

This one might even be better than the "do you want Ben to stay or go?" thread.

It's a comedy of errors, really.

The thread might have been ill-timed, but the list certainly didn't help discussion.

What a shitty fucking list of free agents.

Lucky we didn't sign one of them IMO
