So long, Mo

Former Pistons forward Maurice Evans was a spectator on the first day of the Las Vegas Summer League games Thursday.

Evans, at his request, was traded by the Pistons to the Lakers on draft day for the 51st pick, Cheikh Samb .

"I called Joe after the trade to thank him," Evans said. "He moved me to a better place for myself and I really appreciated that. A lot of guys wouldn't have done that. They would have just kept me around for insurance, or whatever."

Evans, who averaged 5.0 points in 80 games for the Pistons, said he enjoyed his season in Detroit, even though he never was able to contribute as much as he'd hoped.

In the bonus

Jason Maxiell , who will start at power forward this summer, looks chiseled. He has trimmed about 10 pounds from his 6-7 frame, without losing any power.

…There have been some strong first impressions made here. Michigan State guard Maurice Ager scored 17 points in his debut for the Mavericks. No. 1 overall pick Andrea Bargnani scored 20 points for the Raptors, including 16 in the first half. Randy Foye , the first round pick of the Timberwolves, scored 23 in his debut.

Mo....did you REALLY think there was another team that would give you as many chances as we did? Seriously?

And I can't wait to see a picture of the new improved Jason Maxiell tomorrow.

actually we were one of the worst teams for him to be on. the lakers are a near perfect fit. he won't ever need to do anything more than hit 3's and get credit for being better than he is, like devin george.[smilie=burgerking.:

I agree with the above statement.

If anything, we are the exact wrong team for Mo.
And I cant wait to see Max kill people.

If Maxiell has lost weight so he can take a spin at SF... FUCK YEAH!

he was a little too fat last year, fatter than he was in college.

from what we saw of max last year, i cant see him playing too much sf. glad to hear he lost the weight, though. if he's going to try to replace ben, quickness is going to be a premium.

Jmax @ SF = Corliss

if he improves his dribbling i could see it. he can hit jumpers and attack the basket w/o fear. his "only" 2 things holding back was his weight and dribbling. he fixes those and i could see it. he is definately athletic enough. maybe as a switch up SF/PF based on matchups.

Jmax @ SF = Corliss

But with the touch foul rules (and without them IMO), there is no way Max could survive guarding SFs. He is and always will be a Power Forward.

co-signed. I'll never get the SF talk. Maybe on a switch or two he'd be great like Ben, but not in a role ESPECIALLY with rules that focus a lot more on speed than strength.

With Flip and his zone defenses Max could work at SF in certain situations. He sure as hell can't work that way on a game in game out basis.

now that ben (and our D's identity) is gone, i suspect we see quite a bit of zone D next year.

Nothing wrong with zone defense. Dumbasses just gotta learn how to recognize when teams are playing it and how to attack.
