mickey arisen (miami heat): 5.8 billion
mark cuban (dallas mavs): 1.8 billion
james dollan (new york): 2.1 billion
jerry buss (LA lakers): not one of the 400 richest americans (?)
ed snider (philly 76ers) not one of the 400 richest americans

billy pennypincher (detroit pistons):3.5 billion (61st richest american)

the teams listed are the teams currently with the highest payrolls (as of today). the pistons are sitting pretty with the leagues 21st highest payroll.

just food for thought.

I'm not saying he has to spend like Dolan and throw money at every problem, but if you want guys to come in, you have to pay up. You're worth 3.5 billion. Your glass business is going to always make you money, you have sold out 100something games in a row. You charge up the asshole for beer, food, and memorbilia. The least he can do is put that money back into the team. Its not like he's taking a loss every fucking year.

Don't worry I am working on the answer, I think Tom Wilson is either his lover or bastard son and thinks he is getting the money.

how bout this: what title contending team has let its (whatever ben was to the pistons) walk away (to its rival) because it didnt want to pay up?

what title contending team has ever just given up like this?

the closest thing i can think of is the 98 bulls. but that wasnt due to a cheap owner. if you really want to blame anyone, it was jerry krause clashing with phil jackson.

i'll say it again. no team has ever left more on the table than the 2000's pistons.

But the Bulls completely ripped it apart.

The Pistons wont.

We're about to become "competitive" for the next few years.

Why?

I see no point in being mediocre.

Either overpay Ben and go for it next season or rip it up.

If we failed next season Sheed can be dealt, Billups can walk etc.

It's 1 fucking season!
