I know the laptop I have isn't the greatest, but it isn't the worst either. It is less than a year old (6 months), somehow the LCD burst. I used to work for ever retailer out there and know that it won't be covered by warranty, but I want to fix it.

The screen is 15.4 and I want to fix/replace it does anyone have suggestions that can make this repair, less expensive. The laptop wasn't the most expensive but at the same time I don't have the heart to just call it a throw a way. The new screen pricing I have seen is between 425-475 which is still cheaper than buying a new one. So I was hoping for some suggestions as to where I could send it to be fixed.

Not trying to be a dick but spare me the better off buying a new one suggestions unless there is a functionality issue related to get a new screen.

Well it's probably a good idea to buy a new one since the warranty on the rest of your laptop is most likey void now.

One option is to ask the computer maker to see if they will replace your screen with a screen from a refurbished/used computer. But there is no guarantee that your manufacturer will do something like that though. If you do find that they are willing to do it, it's a lot cheaper than getting a new screen.

If you feel comfortable taking apart your laptop, buying a screen off ebay and swapping it out yourself is probably the cheapest option.

I dunno where you live, but there's typically local stores and|or folks who'll deal with refurb laptops, if you don't want to do the repairs yourself for any reason.
