View Full Version : Would you like to see Ben stay or go?

It seems like there is a lot of division on this.

Two options, he re-signs and stays or he's gone and we get a sign and trade TBD.

I know that it largely depends on who is involved in the sign and trade, but let's not get hung up on details. Would you prefer that he re-sign or would you prefer that we get the best offer that we can get for him?

Sorry, but if you say go you are a stright up fucking moron. I have yet to see an alternative plan that comes anywhere close to the value we get from Ben, and any arguement about Ben "crippling" us is ass, we'll be well over the cap the entire 4 years. There are 0 arguements for him to go besides "I don't like it when he complains to refs".

I guess there is not as much division as I thought.

Nice intimidating post Herm, and B-Diddy calls me the master of skewing poll results, lol.

im surprised you didnt opt with "do you not want ben not to sign with a team that is not the pistons?". you must have been in a hurry when you posted this one.

hermy, you forgot an argument. if we go over the tax, bill davidson's net worth might go down 0.0000000000001%. no way we should let ben's greedy ass get market value when bill has to feed his children.

I don't think we can win with this current squad, so I went with a sign and trade. I think Ben is enticing enough to some team to get a nice sign and trade package including some young talent. I would prefer to ship Sheed, but I don't see that happening, so Ben is our best bet to get in fresh blood. I don't expect many to agree with me, and feel free to argue, but I think we need to shake things up any way we can and this is one of the few ways this can happen.

to be fair kilo, ben wallace is probably the easiest player in the nba to underrate.

but heres a number that should tell you everything:

62% (304-188): as in our winning percentage in ben's 6 seasons here.

or:

12, as in the 12 playoff series we won with ben.

or:

11, as in the 11 years we had gone without winning a playoff series before the TOR series.

I really don't want Ben back but i'm not willing to give him up for free. I say either a S & T or sign him and trade him ASAP ( Dec. 15th?)

If we want a chance to contend, then you have to say he must come back. He is the heart and soul of the Pistons hand down. As soon as the Pistons got beat by the Heat, his pending free agency was the 1st thing asked to the players and it was a consensus thought by all the players that he must be resigned. The players know he is the catalyst, and to even consider replacing him with fucking PJ Brown or that pussy Chandler? What a fucking insult to Big Ben. If he goes, this whole thing falls the fuck apart. It is not a matter of can we win with this bunch, we already have. How about a 64 game win season this year and two appearances in the NBA finals the 2 of the last three years. Fuck a shake up of the team, I call for a tweak. Resign Ben, get Bonzi, a competent back up PG, mold our badass young guys, put a foot in Sheeds ass, let Tay play some point and let him guard Wade next time and make that incompetent Fuck Flip attend some playoff basketball coaching seminars. No I take that back, Fire Flip and get Larry back or shit maybe even hire Hubie Brown. I just cant imagine a guy who has given his heart and soul to this city, its fans, and his teamates wearing another uniform. It just would not be right. He deserves to be a Piston for life.

No, fuck him. He's a bitch.

Called the Pistons offer disapointing, when the bulls offered him only 1 mill more. What a dick.

07-03-2006, 07:44 PM
Being a dick is being worth $3.5 billion and not ponying up and paying the man. Fucking morons. I love how Ben is being a greedy prick over $1 million a year (while he's worth $30-$40 million) but Dumbo gets a free pass (while he's worth $3,500 million).

I want ben back, but not if he wants us to break the damn bank for him.

DPISTONS90
07-03-2006, 07:50 PM
I would be a cock over a mill also. How fucked up is it to try to undercut ben like that. Seems the Bulls understand his value more than his own fucking team. Fucking pathetic.

the wrath of diddy
07-03-2006, 07:52 PM
Yeah cause an extra $1 or $2 million a year is too rich for a guy worth $3.5 billion. We're going to be way over the cap no matter what we pay Ben if we keep the starting 5 intact. This is all about you boy Bill's profit margin. It's his greed that's hurting the team not Ben's.

Kstat
07-03-2006, 07:54 PM
Yeah Diddy, as if the owner's overall worth from all his buisnesses has shit to do with this. Not my fault you're jealous of him lol.

Yeah, let's pay ben $16-$18 million per season and not be able to sign anybody else. Good plan.

the wrath of diddy
07-03-2006, 07:57 PM
The only reason we wouldn't be able to sign anyone else is because of Davidson you fucking tard NOT BEN. Davidson is handcuffing the team with this no luxury tax garbage you dumb little shit. WTF are you? The Tom Wilson of the internet? Davidson pays you to spin his bullshit in a positive light.

Anthony
07-03-2006, 08:00 PM
whatever it takes, get him back. if he dosnt come back, and we cant swing a sign and trade, we're fucked, and i'm going to blame flip.

the wrath of diddy
07-03-2006, 08:02 PM
And you'd be blaming the wrong guy.

Anthony
07-03-2006, 08:05 PM
Yeah, but I blame Flip for everything

the wrath of diddy
07-03-2006, 08:06 PM

Yeah, good thing they hired past proven NBA championships coaches like Chuck Daly and Larry Brown, right?

b-diddy
07-03-2006, 08:16 PM
lol, even if you forget that bill davidson is one of the wealthiest men in the US, and say the pistons should stand by themselves, theyre still one of the most profitable franchises in the nba that could easily afford to pay ben his money and go over the tax.

but bill davidson would rather buy another ivory back scratcher than see the pistons back in the finals.

the wrath of diddy
07-03-2006, 08:20 PM
He doesn't want to go back to the finals because the games start so late. He'd miss the early bird special at Denny's and have to shell out a few extra bucks for his grand slam.

KSTAT,
I was OK with you being pro Davidson in the Ben shit, but comparing the great Chuck Daley and the master of coaches Larry Brown and that jackass Flip is just plain wrong. The gods of Piston baketball are very unhappy at the moment with you.

so tell me, how "great" was chuck daly at this point in his career?

he was a HIGHSCHOOL COACH.

I love how everyone thinks that chuck was some kind of legend as soon as we hired him.

But no, Flip's awful after one season with the pistons in which he won 64 games. Nice.

Because its a deja vu of his work in minny. Look you need to come to grips with Flip being judged by his record before he got here. You're right Daly had no real experience before Detroit and inherited a not so great team. Thats a different scenario than taking over high expectation teams when you came from an "NBA" team that failed in the same format. Great regular season and iffy playoffs.

Kstat
07-03-2006, 08:41 PM
I came to grips with the fact he had a bad playoff season.

I never said he was a bad coach, nor should anybody else after a whole ONE season as coach of this team.

And no, his track record in minnesota doesnt mean shit, because this isnt the same group of players.

Artis Gilmore
07-03-2006, 08:48 PM
Well, he's gone, this team will suck, but fuck him. I hope we meet the Bulls in the playoffs and beat the fuck out of them.

DPISTONS90
07-03-2006, 08:48 PM
Never said he was a ledgend before coaching the Pistons, but he understood the intangibles of what makes a TEAM great. It took some time and great moves by MCCloskey, but he molded the Pistons into one of the greatest TEAMS of all time. I'll tell you something else, I would bet my left nut that Daley would have had the basketball IQ to do some things different in the Heat series rather than close his eyes and Hope the Pistons regain their so-called "Mojo" as Flip referrred to when asked why they were playing so bad duringthe fucking series. IE: getting Rip on some curls rather than that iso shit or putting Tay on Wade, something different. Flip sucks and has always sucked. He had a young and hungry Garnett to hide his shit for years and the last time I checked, they sucked in the playoffs also with the exception of one fucking year. His teams play like he coaches: no emotion, always room to blame someone else, and with half a fucking heart. He turned a team of warriors into a team of god damned pawns.
