You all know my hatred for AOL, well now america knows it:
Here is a lady that couldn't cancell AOL for her dead mother:

And the guy on the today show that they wouldn't let him cancell:

And here is the full audio of the 5 minutes he spoke with AOL (after 20 minutes on hold):

AIM's free. Who cares.
If you don't have a cable modem or better, you're garbage and deserve plight.
lol, AOL sucks donkey balls.
cancelling with them is SOOOOOOO annoying. i heard the tapes and it's just as bad as it sounds. they pretty much ignore you and urge you to stay with them. way back when, i had to repeat "i want to cancel" literally 8-10 times....laughing in disbelief. i swear, they must get $100 bonuses for every account they "save".

i heard rumors that older AOL(before the anti spyware campaign they push now), came with spyware. It might have been that crappy security system in IE though.

I know, I can't believe idiots pay 25 bucks a month for shitty dial up.
But, even though AIM is free, and doesn't require AOL, it does support that shitty company with their ads and such on there...so I refuse to use AIM too. not to mention the fact that even having JUST AIM allows them to keep spamming you with warnings to download updates to their software. That pisses me off. There is no option to turn off the automatic updates, and if you close it/hit "no" the update comes back 5 minutes later. you are forced to install an update that they don't even bother to explain what it does (probably uploading your personal information to them), or be annoyed until you uninstall the software. And the only reason I know that is because my wife had an AOL account when she lived at home. i'd sooner send a carrier pigeon then AIM someone. lol
But that's my personal vendetta, I don't expect other people to boycott them like me.

Why not just use a different client other than the AOL one?
